Quoted £2k ended up paying another £1k on completion day!
Very poor communication...lots of mistakes and very patronising on the phone
AVOID!!!!!

Take back everything I said in my previous review as we had not completed yet. Do not use this solicitors they will overcharge you for everything on day of completion they asked for £4,800 because they had messed up and then apologised and asked for £800 instead after we had already paid our final balance the day before. We was also quoted £1,900 and ended up paying nearly £3,000. Only use these solicitors if you have a deep pocket. They also ignored every call and email from my mortgage advisor during the whole process

New Homes Law has been supportive throughout the process. Communication was clear and prompt.

What an amazing service provided by NHLaws. Couldn’t believe the speed and efficient from the day I submitted all my documents to exchanging contracts took 3 weeks. I was impressed on Niamh’s efficiency in replying emails, and how attentive she is to my case making sure everything is going smoothly. Especially with me giving them a very specific timeline that we are working towards. With Isaac’s team overlooking the whole documents, and the efficient is honestly top tier.

Every one’s else, has been really helpful whenever I called/emailed there’s always a response on things i would need to know. No entirely sure, but I believe I’ve spoken with tho both Jack and Lauren before which they are really nice to me x

Prior to Isaac’s assistance, this service was extremely frustrating due to the lack of organisation and failure to provide truthful updates within my case. I would not advise anyone to use these services for their home purchase.

Excellent service all round. Extremely punctual. Knew what they were doing. Communication was fantastic. The whole sale from beginning to end with New Homes was outstanding.

Although things began positively with lots of actions over the short period of time, that was the case leading up to exchange.

Our case worker changed during an integral part of the process. We had to chase for days to exchange contracts with no sign of any proactive action unless I rang and chased.

I am a first time buyer and I had few hard times în the process. The staff is very polite, and professional, but I needed more information that sometimes was hard to received, aspecialy from Luke.
However, Vimbai was so calm and professional when I was on the edge and she showed a very kind and caring approach when understood the full picture. She tried her best to find solutions every time. For her the company deserve 5 stars

I had an excellent conveyancing process with New Homes Law. The experience was as advertised - with a dedicated conveyancer, support team and a fixed price! Grace and team worked expertly and diligently to deliver a seamless service to completion (and now working towards closing the file).

The online ID and Financial checks were secure and easy to use via Thirdfort. Throughout communication was brilliant and consistent including via emails (my preference) and the Hoowla App which I could log onto anytime and view the progress of my case through regular entries made and the updated transitions along the progress flow chart from start to completion. I completed and received my keys to the new property. From my experience, I would recommend this firm.

From the moment I enquired with New Homes Law to see if they could assist me with obtaining a deed of variance, they were super helpful. They got back to me with a quote for the work and once I accepted it they got one with things really quickly.

They kept me informed on their progress and about all the associated costs, and the work was completed in an appropriate timeframe.

As first-time buyers, we were absolutely disgusted by the service we received from New Homes Law. The entire experience was stressful, unprofessional, and left us on the verge of homelessness.

When we first instructed them, both the developer and New Homes Law assured us that completing by 26th March was completely achievable. We were chain-free first-time buyers, so we were told the process should be straightforward. Our mortgage was with Nationwide, and although our broker warned us that New Homes Law were not on Nationwide’s panel, we were repeatedly reassured by the firm and the developer that this would not cause any issues because they had “done this many times before.”

We were renting at the time and had to give two months’ notice, so we handed this in on 27th February based on the assurances we were given.

From that point onwards, communication and progress were shockingly poor. New Homes Law were incredibly slow in requesting information and repeatedly blamed Nationwide for delays. By 25th March, we still hadn’t exchanged contracts and my partner and I were beside ourselves with stress. Our landlord already had new tenants moving in on 28th March, meaning we were potentially going to be homeless.

What shocked us most was the complete lack of urgency or empathy shown by New Homes Law. When I asked them to chase Nationwide, I was told they “didn’t want to annoy them.” That response alone summed up the entire experience.

In the end, we were forced to change solicitors on 26th March. Our new solicitors managed to achieve more in one day than New Homes Law had done in months. We later discovered that checks which could and should have been completed back in January had not even been started.

To make matters worse, we had already paid nearly £1,500 on a “pay as you go” basis. When I complained, they offered to remove a random extra £200 charge we supposedly still owed — despite never previously mentioning this amount and despite the fact they never completed the work. They refused to refund any of the money we had already paid.
Absolutely awful experience from start to finish. I would strongly advise anyone — especially first-time buyers — to think very carefully before using this firm.

So I have used New homes law to purchase my property back in 2021,
in 2022 I was told via email my land registry was still completing and I would be updated with paperwork. Which never arrived.
In Jan 2026 I sold my property and used New homes law as I thought it would be an easy process as my buyers was cash buyers with the knowledge the solicitors would have everything on file from when I purchased the property.
Fast forward 4 months I still have No land registry. So when speaking to land registry I had an application submitted in 2022 and it was cancelled by land registry in 2023 as they had no response from new homes law.
Another application was submitted in Feb 2026 when I sold my property and instructed new homes law for the sale.
Im now on the verge of loosing my buyers, out of pocket, paying for extra expenses I was unaware of and still have No land registry because they have submitted my application along with 7 others putting me at the bottom of the application list, so until those applications are cleared I have to wait which can take months and months.
When I asked via email why this was not done 4 years ago I received a response from my solicitor stating this has no relevance to your current application. Which is shocking because if my land registry was completed back in 2021 when I purchased the house I would not be sitting here now on the verge of loosing my buyers.

I also have had poor communication from them. I called overall 10 times in the last 3 weeks and was given excuses upon excuses as to why I was unable to speak with my solicitor. I never received a call back and emails went unanswered.

I have now been escalated to the client care team after making a formal complaint but I don’t see this being resolved through them but I await there response before I take matters further.

I would never use this firm again and I strongly recommend you to not waste your money or time.
From what should have been a simple house sell has not become a nightmare causing stress and anxiety.

I would never use New Homes Law again after using them for the sale of my flat. Bad service, poor communications, errors, and the cause of lots of unnecessary stress.

There was poor communication and client service throughout the process. I was constantly having to ask for updates and chasing for a response. Emails went unanswered for several days. Whenever my buyer's conveyancer asked for something which New Homes Law already had (e.g. fire risk assessments for the building, previous years' service charge accounts) they delayed matters by asking the council for those documents, even though they had already been provided by me to New Homes Law at the start of the transaction. This happened repeatedly and delayed matters.

Then, as we got to the completion date, they tried to add an additional fee to my bill and pressured me to agree it in order for completion to take place and not be delayed. This was a second fee for redeeming my Help to Buy equity loan, even though I had already agreed an additional fee for that. In other words, they were trying to charge me twice for the same extra service.

Finally, since completion there have been various major errors with the preparation of the completion statement. This includes completing on an incorrect completion statement which misstated the redemption amount owed to the Help to Buy scheme and was only picked up by me after I was transferred a much lower amount than I was expecting following completion. After a further review of the amended completion statement by me, an additional error has been identified relating to apportionments which is now subject to an investigation by the New Homes Law client care team, leaving me out of pocket while that takes place and causing significant stress.
