Nothing on their website works, so I can't access my account.
It won't let me register, it won't let me do "forgot password", so no other options available.
Live chat doesn't work.
No customer support telephone number.
So they want to auto-renew my policy, which I don't want, and they are preventing me from accessing my account to cancel.
Shocking company: avoid like the plague>

Absolutely awful been with them for a decade come back of holiday insurance lapsed by a few days and can’t renew because won’t allow on me to log in portal can’t do anything no contact numbers and every option says log in to portal if you can’t do this you have no chance but sorry to say the future of ai and faceless society is here used them because they were a local company but I assume the you know who have bought them

We can see that you have been in touch via the live chat facility and we were able to price match your renewal for you as it was within the first 14 days, and you have taken the policy out. The agent has added that new policy to your portal. Please contact us if you have any issues accessing that.

No facility to speak to customer services
I have been a customer for several years, but never had cause to claim. Today I tried to cancel my policy because I no longer have a bike. The only way to do this is via the portal, but I was unable to pay the balance, because the MCD's payment system was faulty. I tried several debit and credit cards, but kept getting payment error. I even tried my wife's debit card. I tried the live chat facility, but that didn't work either and wouldn't allow me to type in any text. I tried a different browser, but same result. I tried calling the claim line, recorded msg said they can't sort out policy issues. Eventually I contacted a broker for MCD and he gave me a number for customer services - after 30 mins of my time, I paid the balance to a customer services agent over the phone. Why do MCD make it so difficult to speak to someone? They actively avoid publishing a customer service number. If they are a digital company only, they should have a back-up just in case their systems are faulty. Will they pay me an admin charge for waisting my time, because their systems were faulty? I'm very disappointed, be aware of the limitations of this company.

Been great last year when I insured my…
Been great last year when I insured my bike. Came up for renewal and they sent it to my portal and told me that I accept it through there. I couldn’t and so emailed to tell them. Had someone call me and leave a message but when I tried to call back no one answered. Now just received and email saying they have cancelled it. I’m not happy and will be looking for another company due to not getting help with accepting the quote as couldn’t via the portal.

TERRIBLE customer service!
I wouldn't normally leave a review but I've just experienced TERRIBLE customer service! I have a multi bike policy and had to make a change to the reg number as I wanted to assign a personal plate to one of the bikes. You have to make any changes on the customer portal which is a pain in itself, but although you can make a change on the portal on a single bike policy, they won't allow you to do so on a multi bike policy??!! The 'admin' fee is £20 on a single bike policy but I had to pay £50 just to change the reg number, which is absolutely extortionate and there's zero justification in charging such an amount! I've been a customer of Motorcycle Direct for a number of years but was treated pretty much with contempt by the so-called 'agent' who had no empathy whatsoever, was very unhelpful and cut me off our chat immediately after I'd paid - I didn't bother shopping around this renewal but will certainly do so next year

I have received a message to phone you. It just directs you to the web site. 4 weeks ago I sent a letter by recorded delivery requesting a refund for the money you automatically debited from my account. I had already insured elsewhere. I'm not impressed with your customer service.

unable to contact this company, waited 33 minutes in chat to speak to an advisor who disconnected the chat in less than a minute because I hadn't replied quick enough. They asked what I was contacting them about but it was all in the chat history with the bot, they didnt even take the time to look at previous messages... absolute joke. No phone number, no email... businesses should not be able to operate like this.

Insurance policy was cancelled
Insurance policy was cancelled , no way to contact them to find out why as the only way seems to be an online portal which I can’t access as I don’t have a policy . Had been with them for many years and they did this after many years of auto renewals . Would not recommend at all .

We can see that a cancellation notice was sent out via email, and a SMS followed that. As we had no response, the policy was then cancelled down.

my insurance was cancelled after two weeks i have provided all documents all proofs of address bill driving licence v5 document no claims bonus proof. my insurance cost me £173 a year after 2 weeks cancelled and refund me only £42, i think it is scam company.

Before purchasing the policy you agree to the terms of business, which lay out the basic cancellations costs. Frustrating and Dissmisive.
Disappointing!!
I requested my document pack be sent through the post. After two months, I'm still waiting. Several phone calls later, all I get is welcome letters instead of my certificate etc. I was assured that three copies had been posted to me in response to my calls, and yet none materialised. It's odd that i can receive duplicate welcome letters, but no insurance certificate.
Blaming the postal service is no excuse, and the overreliance on the `Customer Portal` is limiting and seemingly impossible to access.

A further copy was printed in office on 12.06.2026 and posted out on 15.06.2026. On 23.06.2056 a further copy was generated as per your request, and posted out. Once the post is collected from the office, we have to rely on it getting delivered. We hope that you have received the documents that were posted out on 23.06.2026.
