Japanese knotweed concern – awaiting a response from Hyde

I am a neighbouring private property owner rather than a Hyde tenant. I have raised a concern with Hyde Housing Association regarding Japanese knotweed in connection with 8 Ashlar Place and the potential effect on neighbouring property.

I wrote formally to Hyde explaining the situation and asking what action they proposed to take. To ensure there was a clear record of notification, I sent the letter by recorded delivery and retained the delivery evidence.

At the time of writing, I have not received a substantive response addressing the concerns raised.

I have therefore also brought the matter to the attention of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the Regulator of Social Housing.

I am not making assumptions about liability or Hyde’s reasons for not responding. I simply believe that when a neighbouring property owner formally raises a potentially significant issue such as Japanese knotweed, it is reasonable to expect the matter to be acknowledged, investigated and answered.

I would be very happy to update this review if Hyde responds and explains what action it intends to take. I hope it does.

£50,000 / fifty thousand pounds, to "update" the CCTV system in a block of flats. This works out to more than £2,000 per camera. Make what you want of this.

The necessity of this update is debatable, and it appears to be a means to increase the service charges.

Hyde were excellent from start to finish. Shenka Wildey was our sales representative and was wonderful, helping each step she was involved with, from the property viewings to completion of forms and even the move date.
SRC solicitors who acted on Hydes behalf could have had better communication and been more helpful in addressing some issues we had early on.

Updated comment 7/9/2026......Hyde housing association are useless and potentially dangerou, they won't allow you to make a complaint about them and the pathetic service they provide. They protect, racist and anti social tenants, they will even try and blame you. If your having problems with neighbours and Hyde refuse to do anything, contact your local council and start a Community Trigger. Hyde don't care about anything unless it cost them money. I've suffered with a bad neighbour for 20 years and Hyde have done absolutely nothing about the individual apart from bull **** excuses and trash mediation. The tenant goes quite and does the same thing again. Hyde have said for the last two months someone will contact me, surprise, surprise they never do. Hyde claim the issue has been resolved but nothing has changed. Hyde Housing association are complete rubbish and always have been.

Phoned at about 08.10 gave me emergency call out. They were here by 08.30, work completed, cleaned up and gone by 09.00.
What more could you ask for.

From the first interactions, my wife finding the website, looking at the properties, booking a viewing, doing the eligiblity checks, everything was clear and straightforward. Not that there wasn't a million things to gather, answer and do, but Shenka answered our questions and worked well with their brokers, our brokers and solicitors.

We booked the first viewing on 8th of May and we're completing on 18th of August, which is just about 3 months from start to finish.

Great service. Engineer's were very professional and very friendly and polite.

It was the work took longer than it needed to be. But overall great work very pleased. Repair man was great very polite at all time and helpful. But the stairs, plastering & then paint was nor all done on the same date which was a.very small area that needed to be done, in all took about 3 weeks to complete.

I moved into my house in September 2025
The previous Tennant lived in the house for 40 years.
the house hasn’t been updated in that time.
I had to hire a skip when I moved in to the house just to clear up the crap the contractor’s left plus all the Ivy that had grown from next door up the side of my house up to the roof (40 years of ivy🙄)
I have a wet room that leaks out of the bathroom out on to the landing,the first contractor that came and looked at it told me to replace the bathroom myself the second contractor said the floor needs taking up but I’m still waiting.
The communication with Hyde is applauding no one has a clue what they’re doing,I get passed from one person to the other and the app is a waste of good time!
My back fence and gate is rotting and falling to bits and they keep sending workmen round to bodge it a bit more,it’s on a public footpath by a road the contents of my garden is falling on to the footpath.
The list goes on 😕

Hyde housing is not great, they delay housing repairs through complaints services leaving vulnerable people at risk
