Hidden shipping fees

Purchased an Advent Calendar for £126. When UPS have tried to deliver I apparently owe £16 in shipping fees. I have had no correspondence from Happy Socks about this and was at a bit of a loss as to what to do. Their response - "not our problem, you need to just contact UPS". Whilst I understand shipping and import fees, and I am not opposed to paying the fee, I am very cross that this wasn't a) communicated at point of purchase (they said it was clearly communicated "you will see a notification that there will be a customs fee before you proceed with the order", it absolutely wasn't, I have just re-checked the checkout process and NO mention of this) b) I have had my time wasted by Happy Socks and UPS. I will not be using Happy Socks again as their process for this is appalling.

We assure you that we're not trying to hide this information, and that's why we have a grey banner at the top of the cart and checkout. We also state on the free shipping bar that you can get free shipping, but that it will be excluding any potential import fees.

There are no words for this company !!

Appalling worst place I have ever been appalling in every way , think their above the law they robbed £70 off us with no goods , didn’t give us the correct sizes and wouldn’t refund spoke to manager for over 45 minutes completely unhelpful and waste of time not willing to help , shop staff very rude this is the one on Portobello Road but I am sure that their all the same no refund policy but that’s actually not lawful terrible experience which lasted 2 hours and still not resolved have contacted trading standards and will be taking legal action also

Fikk standard svar etter mye om og men. At varene var sendt og jeg kunne følge den via ……….(nummer).

Purrer 8/11 og 11/11 med samme svar. Ikke noe forklaring.
Tragisk å følge pakken via det systemet.

17.november kunne jeg hente pakken her.
Absolutt ikke god nok informasjon, dårlig mulighet å følge pakken og alt for treg sending.

After reviewing your case, I can see that your order was shipped from our warehouse in the Netherlands within 3 days, but was unfortunately held by Deutsche Post for 10 days without any notice to us.

As we’re unable to monitor every individual parcel once it leaves our warehouse, we rely on updates from the carrier or the customer to flag issues. I also see that our customer service team responded promptly to all your inquiries, though I’m sorry the situation was still disappointing.

Prima service, slechte sok

De service is altijd prima en de prints zijn leuk. Dat is waardoor ik er soms toch weer in trap. De sokken zelf zijn namelijk de slechtste sokken die ik in de kast heb liggen. Ze zijn één of twee keer zacht, maar na een paar keer wassen worden ze stroef en stug als geen ander. Echt zonde! (Dit gaat overigens over happy socks van 1+ jaar geleden, kan intussen veranderd zijn, maar aangezien het al zo lang het geval was - heb in de loop van de jaren heel wat paar gehad - ben ik bang van niet).

Beware Excess Shipping Charges

Beware! I ordered their advent calendar direct from Happy Socks. It cost £180 and was followed by a £82.67 UPS excess charge invoice. Happy Socks are refusing to reimburse me ‘because info was on the website’. The same item is at John Lewis without the shocking UPS charge.

Billige Qualität - NICHT KAUFEN

Das einzige was an happy socks überzeugt ist das Marketing und Design,leider gehen die Socken sehr schnell kaputt. Dies ist wahrscheinlich die Masche,damit Kunden immer wieder Socken kaufen,ich bin leider auch lange darauf reingefallen.

Die Verzollungsgebühren sind sehr hoch und man wird darüber nicht gerecht informiert, sie machen Werbung für Rabatte der Socken und am Schluss kommt eine Verzollung sowie Einfuhrsteuer, auf die nicht hingewiesen wird. Sehr enttäuschend!

I was a bit worried at first, but then it was all good !

I was honestly a bit worried after reading some online reviews about Happy Socks, but my experience turned out to be really good.
I ordered a few pairs of socks, and they arrived in perfect condition — the packaging even had a nice scent, which was a pleasant surprise.

They’re meant as a gift, so I can’t comment yet on how they hold up over time, but the overall impression is very positive.
The delivery to France took about a week and a half, which is reasonable.

The only small issue was that I didn’t receive my tracking number right after purchase, but when I contacted customer service, they were very kind, helpful, and responsive.

Tolle Motive - Mangelhafte Qualität

Bin jahrelang ein glücklicher Kunde gewesen. Besonders wegen der Motive! Auch wenn die Shopping Erfahrung dubios erscheint, weil man keinen einfachen Weg hat sich seinen Account und Bestellverlauf sich anzeigen zu lassen. (Weshalb hier das Datum der Erfahrung mehr ein Richtwert sein muss.)
Leider ist mir seit ca. 2 Jahren ein massiver Abfall in der Qualität aufgefallen. Mittlerweile halten die neueren Socken nicht mal ein Jahr. Sehr schade, muss mir eine Alternative suchen. Im Worst-Case mit langweiligeren Motiven. Qualität ist dann doch das Wichtigste.

UPDATE:
HappySocks reagiert leider immer mit einer Standardantwort. Man erkennt es daran, dass HappySocks bei den Bewertungen hier immer mit demselben Kommentar antwortet. Der Satz "We have reached out to you to try and resolve the issue, but have not heard back from you." ist einfach nicht wahr in meinem Fall. Das lässt vermuten, dass HappySocks sich Kritik nicht zu Herzen nimmt und in aller Voraussicht sich die Qualität nicht bessern wird.

Poor comms and extremely long delivery times.

Little to no comms after placing my order and it took almost 4 weeks for the item to arrive (sending to the UK). Long past the date I actually needed it for.

There was minimal comms, I had to use their ai chat bot to find out my order number and then search for my order from there.

Once it arrived the boxed item was stuck with the glue from the cardboard packaging, I had to very gently pick it off.

Cannot recommend. Just try and find them in a local shop!

Nettes Design - unterirdische Qualität

Ich mag das Design der Socken, aber die Qualität... Die Socken gehen immer an der selben Stelle kaputt, fasst so als wäre hier ab Werk (vorsätzlich) ein Fehler eingebaut. Nach nunmehr gut 20 Paar Socken die alle nach kurzer Tragedauer kaputt sind werde ich es mal mit Kopien versuchen...

I can only second the quality issues

I can only second the quality issues!
Long time Happy Socks buyer. They used to be fun designs and great quality. I have some socks from 2019 that are still looking fresh. However, the new ones fray pretty easily at pressure points.
I love the designs, but having to darn my socks often is not great.
However, their customer support is great and responsive, they also ship items really quickly. Many positives but the quality has taken a dip in the past years! I hope their production team will consider these reviews and improve the quality.

Miese Quali und hoher Preis

Die Qualität ist Hund elendig für des Preis, machen wir uns hier nichts vor. Sie sind halt fast einzigartig und die Designs sind auch echt nicht schlecht. Die Sneaker Socken haben eine 1000 fach bessere Qualität, da sage ich ja das ist okey. Aber die Highs..... als würden di direkt von Temu kommen. Also ein jahr regelmäßig nutzen und die Dinger sind druch.

No free return. Waste of money

I bought sandals from Happy Socks. They proved to be too tight. There is no free returns policy. I will have to pay for postage in order to return them to the Netherlands! So, I'll be paying a lot of money for returning the sandals and all for nothing. Not good service. A company their size should absorb return costs. Unfortunately, a waste of money

Premium prices - premium service?

Premium prices, premium service? Not when it comes to Happy Socks. I wanted to return my socks, but first, you have to fill out the return form yourself (seriously?), and then you have to pay to ship the return to Sweden. In my case, that would have cost €12.50. Totally ridiculous for such a big retailer. They have really found a money-maker here.
