Our first time using Halfords for an m.o.t.went to Chorley, great service, great staff, would recommend.

Easy to book, helpful staff, good job all round.

they sent me a discount for a £20 MOT. I was worried it was a way to get me in and then nit-pick. However the guys in Tunstall were fast and fair. They took the time to explain what might come up next year.

Took my VW ID3 electric car in for service not sure if this was done properly as the tyres had supposedly more tread on them than the last service no battery health on invoice as requested and advised this would be done. Also took partners diesel car in for service and MoT it failed told over £800 to get it through price went up again when I rang to say I would have it done.Picked car up found oil on wing, on mirror and down door it a white car. Took car elsewhere had all work done £370.
Also found if I had taken electric car to VW garage it would have been £18 cheaper and would have been done properly.
I will need to take other car back for Retest I will update again.
My advice is have a shop around and don't just go for the convenience it could cost you £100s extra

Easy to book; very prompt service and friendly reception staff. Job completed ( replacement front brake discs and pads) in good time and to a high standard. Helpful advice about how best to protect the new pads over the
first 200 miles of driving. Highly recommended garage services.

Staff were very engaging, valued me and kept me fully info throughout as to what was wrong with the car, what needed to be done with it and when it would be ready. Service with a smile throughout and I felt valued.

I have been a loyal Halfords customer with previous vehicles and never had an issue—until now.

I recently took my 4-year-old car to the Bury New Road branch for a full service and MOT. Afterwards, they gave me an advisory note claiming the steering and suspension needed attention, specifically stating both rear shock absorbers needed replacing, complete with a quote to book it in.

Because the car is relatively new, I decided to take it to my main dealership in Stockport for a second opinion. After paying for a thorough inspection, the dealership confirmed there is absolutely nothing wrong with the steering, suspension, or shock absorbers, and they provided video footage of the inspection as proof.

I am deeply shocked that Halfords tried to charge me for unnecessary, costly work. Worse still, I have sent three separate written complaints about this and have been completely ignored—not even a basic acknowledgment.

Due to the complete lack of response, I am now reporting this to Trading Standards and have contacted BBC Watchdog, who noted they are receiving numerous similar complaints about Halfords.

I will never use Halfords again, and I strongly urge others to get a second opinion before paying for recommended work here.

I had my 2 rear tyres replaced at Halfords Garage Purley Way. The staff are always very helpful and gave me an accurate assessment of the time it would take .

I had an MOT and Major Service; the only person I spoke to was the young man on reception. He was very courteous and well informed. I was told the job would take 6-7 hours but it was done in 3!!

I was very satisfied with the work undertaken; and the nice chap fully explained the extra work required.

I am a member of the motoring club and I am very pleased with the price I paid for both an MOT and Major Service with perfect customer service.

The service has improved at my branch but it still seems to take a long time for them to change a tyre and do the paperwork, especially when it's not very busy.

I received excellent service yesterday, Tuesday, October 6th, 2026, 4.30 p.m., at the Poole Store near Tower Park from Luca and Reece. I needed a new inner tube replacement quickly, and they obliged without any fuss. It was a superb customer experience, and both are a credit to Halfords. Reece is an e-bike guru, too. Thanks, Guys.
