Great time :)
I really enjoyed learning spanish at Expanish in Barcelona :) Kris was a great teacher and the activities of the school were also great!
But I would recommend to look for an accomodation by yourself because the ones which are offered are very overpriced.

Expanish Madrid
In the mid of august 2026 I did the Intensive Explore course from Expanish for one week. The classes in the morning were great and focused on speaking.
Most of the students are at Expanish for 2 -12 weeks. And because I was just one week I decided to take the Spanish in the city classes.
For the Spanish in the city class we went to a museum where we needed to answer some questions (was very basic) and a walk through the city were we were discussing our visions and meanings on the city.
I recommend to take just the morning classes at Expanish and go to the 4:30 activities they organise in the afternoon which are fun and a great way to meet other students!
For housing I would suggest to look for yourself. I choosed the shared student living, but they just place you in a random available co-living in Madrid. Which would've been cheaper if I had booked it by myself.

A School You Can Trust
I spent SIX weeks in Barcelona, and I LOVED studying with Expanish all six weeks. All the professors were so lovely, and the staff was really helpful as well. They try their best to accommodate your needs and check in with you along the way. I booked homestay through them as well, and had a fantastic experience.
I experienced only two disadvantages to the course, which is why I gave 4 stars and not five, but I would have preferred to give 4.5 stars because they really did try their best.
What the classes entail could have been clearer. For instance, afternoon classes focussed more on discussion rather than grammar. I would have preferred to have been offered the choice. Discussion can always be built in to grammar lessons.
Spanish in the City afternoon classes were great for getting to see areas of town I would have otherwise not seen, but the organisation sometimes left something to be desired. For instance when we were required to take the metro, no one knew this ahead of time. This presented a number of problems for me. So alternatives would have been appreciated. Or, only offering SitC afternoons within walking distance of the school would be another option.
My second point is in the organisation and administration of class levels. While it is good to divide participants by age, e.g. under thirties and over thirties, this sometimes led to certain levels not being offered. Also, moving between levels could be smoother. That said, it is not easy arranging for class levels when participants can change every week, so I recognise it is not an easy fix.
So overall, I highly recommend this school, and would definitely use it again.

In this case, one of the main takeaways for us is the importance of clear communication and providing our students with all the relevant information, so that expectations and the way our classes and activities work are always clear from the beginning.
Regarding the Spanish in the City activities, we completely understand your comment about transportation. Not all activities require travelling by metro; we only use it in certain cases when we feel it is the best and most efficient way to reach a particular location, and when we believe the activity is really worth the journey. That said, we take your feedback on board that this information should be communicated further in advance, so that students can plan accordingly and know what to expect.
We also find your comments about the content of the afternoon classes and the organisation of class levels very useful. They help us better understand how we can communicate and organise these aspects to make the overall experience as clear and smooth as possible.

Mein Mann und ich waren 2022 schon einmal in Buenos Aires und hatten dort einen privaten Kurs gebucht. Wir hatten dieses Jahr nichts gebucht und sind einfach mal vorbei gegangen. It's a great institute to learn…
It's a great institute to learn Spanish, with a very friendly environment. I will be joining the classes again in a couple of months. However, for beginners, the speed needs to be slowed down slightly through more classroom practise and speaking.

It’s possible that you joined a group that had already been running for a little while, which may have made the pace feel faster than usual.

If we had known during the course that you felt the speed was a bit fast, we could have provided extra review materials or followed up more closely to make sure you felt fully comfortable with the content. There are other places that will fight 4 yr business
I contacted them to learn what kinds of lessons they offer for advanced Spanish speakers. I received a very basic email. I had to write again to Maryana to get a clearer understanding. Again she answered a basic answer. That's when she probably decided she is not going to invest in me anymore and did not address the issue I was concerned about. I guess this was too much for Maryana and she opens the emails but no longer answers them. You dont get to ask questions there and you certainly dont get direct answers.

Unterricht, der nicht nur sein Geld wert ist
Ich habe Expanish in Buenos Aires von Ende Oktober bis Mitte November 2025 besucht. Mein Aufenthalt war bereits der dritte, nachdem ich 2023 mit Vorkenntnissen angefangen hatte.
Alleine schon die Fortführung eines früheren Lernbausteins, hinter dem keine weitere Erwartung steckt, als Fähigkeiten auf hohem Niveau zu entwickeln, spricht für die Schule. Das gesamte Umfeld bietet dafür ausgezeichnete Möglichkeiten. Dazu zählt außer der methodischen Vermittlung von Lerninhalten auch eine erstklassige Betreuung. Möglichen Unzufriedenheiten begegnet man auf allen Ebenen professionell, entspannt und mit einem Lösungsanspruch, der den Umständen gerecht wird. Mein ganz spezieller Dank gilt deshalb außer den Lehrkräften auch den netten und stets hilfsbereiten Angestellten in der Verwaltung.
Weil die Lerngruppen oft von überschaubarer Belegung sind, kann auf individuelle Bedürfnisse eingegangen werden. Der Unterrichtsstil lässt bisweilen Raum für Einblicke, die nicht im Lehrplan vorkommen, ihn aber ergänzen. Dabei entwickelt sich nebenbei im Unterricht die eine oder andere Diskussion auf anspruchsvollem Niveau. Genau so muss gute Wissensvermittlung stattfinden!
Ein Freizeitangebot ergänzt den Lehrplan auf angenehme Art. Bleibt dran in Buenos Aires!

I’ve been here many times
I’ve been here many times, and this time was a bit better than usual — mainly thanks to the teacher, who was very nice and engaging.
However, I still don’t like the system. You never really finish a topic until you’ve truly understood and can use it; instead, they rush through the book from chapter to chapter, no matter if students follow or not.
The facilities and location of the school are great — definitely an upgrade.
Still, I feel very anonymous here; nobody really looks after your individual needs.
In my opinion, this school is perfect for young people who want to have fun and meet others. But the 30+ classes feel a bit out of place. Altogether, it’s a good school for young students, but for those over 30, other places might be more suitable.

Très bonne expérience de la demande d'infos aux cours
J'ai voulu organisé pour mon fils un voyage linguistique et je me suis appuyé sur Expanish pour 4 leçons particulières d'Espagnol sur Barcelone.
Les renseignements que j'ai reçu ainsi que le suivi et la rapidité de réponse, le tout en ligne, m'ont de suite mis à l'aise et mis en confiance.
Quant au cours en eux-même, ça avait l'air très bien. Mon fils a apprécié.

Great school for both short and long visits to Madrid
I would definitely recommend Expanish for improving or learning Spanish. I had an amazing few months in Madrid and really don't feel like I could've picked a better school for my stay. Expanish really focus on the students and their well being, by offering immersive classes, invested teacher and fun activities outside of school. I really looked forward to going to school every day I stayed in Madrid.
My favorite part of Expanish was the teachers. They're really focused on improving your Spanish and put together classes to help their students understand, not just rehearse. The teachers were also very invested in their students improvements, and really worked hard to ensure that every student was at a good level in their learning.
Another great thing about Expanish was that the location and school premises was top quality. The school is fresh and modern and the location is super central and very easy to commute to.
All in all I could not recommend Expanish more if you're considering learning Spanish in Madrid. Im eternally grateful for all the memories and experiences I had in Madrid, many thanks to Expanish.

My week at Expanish
Gabriel, our tutor was excellent. Very energetic and enthusiastic. He held our concentration and was patient with us. I felt I learned a lot. All of the staff were very helpful. The games were fun and the outings good too.
