Horrible experiences with HGV/Diamond Resorts
The decision to end our relationship with Diamond Resorts/Hilton Grand Vacations stems from a multitude of ongoing frustrations and disappointments that have spoiled what was supposed to be a seamless and enjoyable vacationing experience. Regardless of how long we have been connected to this company, it in truth, only gets worse year over year. Compounding the issues is the consistent difficulty in navigating the DRI/HGV website and the inability to reach a concierge for assistance, leading to a significant barrier in planning and booking vacations. Upgrades to higher membership levels, which promised easier access and support, have failed to deliver the "hassle-free" vacationing experience that was advertised, with availability often not aligning with our requested times and locations. Additionally, repeated attempts to resolve these issues through customer service have been met with unfulfilled callbacks and unresolved complaints, even after escalating to supervisors. The pressure to purchase additional points during owners' updates, coupled with a feeling of shame for not having enough points for desired vacations, has only added to the discontent. Financially, the situation has become unsustainable, requiring us to dip into retirement savings, all while navigating health issues. These accumulated grievances have led to the decision that continuing this relationship is not in our best interest, seeking instead a resolution that frees our broken household from these burdens.
Unsatisfied experience with Diamond Resorts
Our experience with Scottsdale Villa Mirage and Diamond Resorts has been such a huge disappointment and we regret it so much. We were promised a luxurious and easy vacation experience but ended up with a costly and hard-to-use timeshare. Despite spending nearly $10,000 over two years, we struggled to book vacations and were misled about how to use our points.
Customer service is poor, and the website is confusing. We were never told about our right to cancel the contract and important financial details were hidden from us. What started as a $11,900 purchase has turned into a $25,639 expense, with no value for inheritance as promised by the staff. This timeshare has been nothing but a financial drain and a headache. Avoid Scottsdale Villa Mirage and Diamond Resorts if you do not want to be lied to. It is so sad to see how this company is being run and we hope they come to their senses.
My review of Diamond Resorts
We wrote a letter to the President of Hilton Grand Vacations, the parent company of Diamond Resorts, a recounting of our distressing experience and a plea for urgent assistance. Hoping that he can provide guidance, support, and intervention in our case. The emotional and psychological toll this ordeal has taken on us cannot be overstated. We find ourselves in a battle that we are ill-equipped to fight alone, against an entity that seems to have perfected the art of exploiting the vulnerabilities of the elderly as my wife is in her late 70’s and I am in my mid 80’s. We are not seeking retribution but rather protection and justice, not only for ourselves but for others who may find themselves in similar situations. Elder abuse, in any form, should not be tolerated, and entities that engage in such practices must be held accountable. The realization that we were deliberately chosen for this treatment because of our age is not only disheartening but deeply disturbing. It is a stark reminder that elder abuse can manifest in many forms, including through deceptive sales practices. Practices, I must add, that are unequivocally prohibited by law. We know that Hilton Grand Vacations has no responsibility for the actions of the employees of a company that Hilton has taken over, but we feel compelled to share our story with you in the hopes that Hilton Grand Vacations understands the precariousness and difficulty of our situation. We are both retired individuals, living on limited budgets and incomes, and feel that Diamond, at all points, took us for a ride. Diamond Resorts targeted us to push us towards making a timeshare purchase with them under the false promises of ease of access, the building of equity to hand off to our children and the ability to make extra income into our old age via renting out the timeshare. Our letter has fallen on deaf ears, now the harassing creditor calls have started, since we have been forced to stop making payments, we simply cannot continue to pay.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. For 2 years this company has repeatedly called me even after I said no and asked to be put on there do not call list there sells reps are extremely rude when they realize that they won't make the sell. Very bad business all across the board
Maintenance fees too much
I have tried to work out the maintenance fees with them by paying monthly, they set me up with a payment plan, filled out the paperwork and because their system was not taking out the money (I called and told them), they cancelled the plan and said i had to pay in full. I have tried to resolve this several times so I can stay in good grace and they will not work with me on taking fees off that they added. I will never recommend them and will be getting rid of my timeshare that i have had for over 20 years.
In addition to this they always make you go to a meeting and try to suck more money out of you. They promise you things that you never get, and when you keep saying no, they treat you like crap. I would stay clear of buying a timeshare, you can get better deals booking yourself.
We purchased a sampler package for…
We purchased a sampler package for 2900.00 in 2014, we told the representative it could be more than a year or more before we could use it. Fast forward to now and when I go to use it I am told it's expired can't help you. I spent almost 3000 and I end up getting nothing in return, they are a scam. We were lied to in order for them to make a sale. What is it called when you pay for a service and get nothing in return..... yea it's fraud.
Diamond Resorts are Scammers
We write this review to expose the scams and lies we have endured throughout our experience with Diamond Resorts and Hilton Grand Vacations. What was supposed to be a free trip, turned into a trap to put us through high pressure sales presentations, in which we were strong armed and swindled into a timeshare contract based on lies and false promises made by their employees. The sales agents James Jackson in Sapphire and Jonathan Schlesinger in Maui are the main representatives responsible for such actions. They promised us limitless possibilities and benefits associated with our new “Elite” status, stating that we were making a Real Estate investment for profit in the future, including saying that Resorts are private meaning they would be exclusive to Elite owners and booking would be a breeze any time of the year, regardless of the destination. Very soon, we learned that to be untrue as the promised destinations were often unavailable and we were soon met with an unexpected increase in maintenance fees. In 2020, we also had a financial hardship that has significantly impacted our ability to pay for maintenance fees, let alone get to travel or use our membership. Hilton Grand has been made aware of this and we have yet to hear back or be acknowledged by them. We hope this raises awareness among the public in general and generates a response from Hilton Grand Vacations as we only seek to cancel our membership and dissolve our contract with them.
Diamond Resorts timeshare
We purchased in 2013 from Diamond Resorts. All of this started because we were lured into a meeting with the offer of discounted tickets to an attraction in Maui. During that meeting we were coerced into signing up. A year later, while visiting Phoenix, we were forced to attend an “owner’s update”. This update was just another sales pitch, and this time we were duped into purchasing 15,000 points in the US collection. Afterwards we were still having difficulty with availability. So, we purchased an additional 7,500 points, with the promise that we would finally have the access we had been promised from the beginning. Again, not true, duped again! Every vacation we have taken with Diamond Resorts has required us to attend a long, pressure-filled meeting where we are subjected to deceptive sales tactics and lies. In 2022, we were told that we needed to purchase more points so that we would maintain the same quality of service when Hilton Grand Vacations acquired Diamond Resorts. Then, when Hilton Grand Vacations did acquire Diamond, we were told that we needed to purchase more points to maintain our level of service. Every single meeting has been a ploy to get us to purchase more points to receive promises made at meetings prior. We were told that there was a buyback program, and our points would be purchased back when travel no longer became feasible for us. I am now 70 years old and my husband, Harold, is 87. Do you think there really is a buyback program? Of course not! Just another lie! Do not purchase with Diamond Resorts or any other timeshare for that matter.
If I could rate them zero I would
If I could rate them zero I would. First off, their annual maintenance fees of $1,600 a year is extortion. I can book 5 night stay in a beautiful hotel for that price. Second, the resort has not been kept up to a five star level over the years. Third, I've tried to sell it for years and no one is interested in the Orlando location.
Diamond Resorts HUGE Disappointment!
I am incredibly disappointed in how Diamond Resorts has treated both me and my mother. And still these same Diamond Resorts employees continue to upsell by using Hilton’s name having been acquired during Covid. Promising new benefits and refurbishments at the low, low price of $275,000.00. I have served as the sole caregiver for my mother, who suffered from multiple sclerosis (MS) affecting her brain. And now, I am partially disabled too, after I sustained a mild traumatic brain injury from a fall at work. It has been an incredibly stressful time made all the worse by Diamond employees. Admittedly, we have a long history with Diamond resorts. And in truth, it has taken us a long time to figure out exactly how we have been duped, repeatedly, through upgrades. In fact, the only thing you gain in the end is larger costs with diminishing returns. By large costs, we are talking about over a Quarter MILLION Dollars, just in contracted loans, independent of all the other fees. I am unable to afford the current maintenance fees, which have already increased by 16% over the past two years. As I am now living on a fixed income, these fees have become a significant financial burden. Separately from the costs we have also discovered that we were blatantly and purposefully deceived about what we were getting and how it could be utilized. It is also worth noting that during my stays at resorts in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Virginia, and Florida, I encountered loud and disruptive guests who smoked in their rooms. At the Liki Tiki resort in Orlando, we were compelled to contact security multiple times due to the excessive noise from neighboring guests, making it sound like an actual bar open until the early morning hours. Similar experiences with smoking and unruly, loud guests occurred at the Royal Kona, Point at Poipu, Cancun, and Historic Powhatan Resort. Collectively, these experiences were subpar and highly unpleasant. Regardless of how often we travelled, it was not worthy of the cost applied.
I was booked for Diamond resorts under…
I was booked for Diamond resorts under a owner by the name of Linda Winand and it was spiders and a web and public hair in the unit. She wouldn't answer her phone for me after I tried to call to see why she did me in such a way.She never answered the call. Our couch was dirty. It was a real dump.We was moved to another unit, but it shouldn't have never happened. Diamond resorts didn't do anything, but se d me off to call Expedia. It should be called low budget resorts and fraud behavior.
An "owner update" meeting with Diamond/Hilton Grand Vacations
An "owner update" meeting with Diamond Resorts, now under Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV), at the Cancun Resort in Las Vegas epitomized our ongoing struggles with this organization. Initially promised as a sales-free event, it morphed into a grueling hours-long ordeal orchestrated by two sales associates. Despite our hopes of finding solutions to our increasing and ongoing financial burdens with HGV, we were bombarded with confusing schemes and relentless pressure tactics.
Throughout the meeting, promises of reduced ownership points and lower maintenance fees were dangled before us, only to be obscured by convoluted calculations and persistent sales pitches. The ordeal reached a new low when our privacy was violated as the salesmen interrogated my wife over her cellphone usage, suspecting her of using a recording device. Even after enduring six hours of stress and uncertainty, our hopes of resolving our issues remained unresolved, leaving us facing a 600-mile round trip for continued negotiations and a resolution. Reflecting on the debacle, we were left grappling with mounting costs, frozen accounts, and damaged credit, all stemming from the deceit and mismanagement of the HGV sales team.
I felt compelled to write a review…
I felt compelled to write a review about my experience with Diamond. I initially purchased a timeshare because I was told that I needed to attend a presentation and it was mandatory. I was upset because I already planned each day to go places and do activities with my children. In the presentation I was enticed with the promises made with retirement aligning perfectly with the timeshare. I paid in full for the timeshare. My experience on trips after that was more high-pressure presentations disguised as owner updates where I was pressured aggressively to continue to buy points and upgrade my timeshare. Throughout the process I was rushed to electronically sign the contracts without even disclosing important information. I remember at one point I was even asked to put more down on paper than what I originally made. I didn’t think anything of it, but now I feel like it was all for monetary gain for Diamond. I remember being told that I needed to merge with Hilton to prevent maintenance fees from skyrocketing. Of course, feeling concerned I paid in full once again. Later I received a statement from Diamond that I still had an active timeshare. Hilton lied to me that Diamond no longer existed. These people scammed me multiple times and right now I am trying to get this disputed and resolved. I had enough and they need to acknowledge their wrongdoing.
Everything is wrong about this company
Everything is wrong about this company. We booked a trip with them to go to Punta Cana. Unfortunately my wife was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer and we had to cancel the trip. 6 months later, they still refuse to refund my money. On top of that, I contacted the resort directly to see if I could get any support only to find out that a reservation was never even made for me. We would have gone and had no place to stay. Don't do business with them. This company is a scam.

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!!!
DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!!!
I booked a condo in Orlando ONCE in 2018 and they have been calling me relentlessly ever since - FOR SIX YEARS. I’ve asked them repeatedly to lose my number and they continue to harass me. Pay a little more and book with literally anyone else. I’m at the point of changing my number because the calls will not stop.
I feel like I have a stalker ex boyfriend that refuses to let go. WE ARE NEVER EVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER!
Diamond Resorts under a Hilton Grand…
Diamond Resorts under a Hilton Grand Vacation flag is engaging in misleading and manipulative practices that have cost our family thousands of dollars. We anticipate we are not alone in this regard. We wrote to the President of the company for relief and have been met with nothing but emails with “convenient” ways to pay for what we don’t want. A product that is grossly overpriced and misrepresented. The “Transitions program” requires that you pay for the privilege of being released from future payments by paying off the contract in full. Well, we say, roll it back to the original contract, and be grateful for what we paid. Their entire structure is built around if it’s not working you must need MORE POINTS. If it is working, then you need MORE POINTS.
Each time we balked at spending more money, the sales agents would sweeten the deal. At one point we mentioned how we wanted to take our girls to Hawaii, which we were told was easily doable. We were told that this vacation would only cost us points and absolutely no money out of our pockets. Later, when we attempted to book this trip, we discovered that we had to pay out of pocket for the flights–we were told this wouldn’t happen and that our points would cover flights and rental car. Since our trip to Hawaii, our youngest daughter–who had been battling an auto-immune disease–was also diagnosed with arthritis. This has put an immense financial and emotional strain on our family. We have repeatedly tried to contact Diamond to explain our hardship, but this has been impossible since the merger between Diamond and Hilton. Our family comes first, and we have been severely misled about the cost and benefits associated with our timeshare contract. This has become too much to bear for us and we are seeking a swift resolution in the form of our contract being terminated.
They promise a cruise when we bought…
They promise a cruise when we bought points didn't get the cruise then we called to use the points they couldn't find or account now after 2 years that the points expired they found the account they whon give or money back 1700.00 hundred dollars we pay for it don't buy anything from this company they just take your money
