Hi staying in Dartmouth and had an issue . Help given most graciously by Morgan . Who followed up with a phone message the next day . Can not thank her enough for her support . Issue resolved but it was the fact that she listened that was the most important .

We booked a holiday via Coast and Country but found it impossible to contact them with a request, the phone number leads you straight to the website, there no email address and the messaging service is an AI that goes no-where, they said contact the owner on the "no reply" email but they don't supply any contact details - do not book with them!

We arrived at our holiday cottage late Friday evening & had a few issues that were bothering us. I emailed coast & country, who manage the properties, I received a call within 10 minutes from a lovely lady called Sam, who honestly could not have done any more for us. She liaised with other local letting companies & had the whole family moved the very next morning, with just three hours to spare ahead of a family wedding. I cannot thank the Salcombe team enough for the exceptional customer service we received. You helped make our holiday a special one 😊

We booked through Sykes and their customer service team are very helpful, but this booking was handled through country cottages and the property is lovely but the staff in the Dartmouth office are just so rude. We didn’t have a complaint but they stand there, hands on hips or arms folded, all talking to you like you are stupid and being so officious. They really need to go on some customer service training - they’re the worst I’ve ever experienced. Why would you recruit such bad mannered people?

Rented a cottage and arrived to a damp, smelly, cold and dirty place - hairs on the sheets, unhoovered, plughole not draining because of hair clogging it, dust everywhere and the damp caused my partner’s asthma to flare. On putting on the heating, fleas just jumping from the carpet and we got bitten everywhere . We contacted Coast and country aka sykes for the property to be cleaned properly and they asked for photos to be provided to show the owner, which we sent. Then silence. Eventually on chasing they said that they weren’t going to do anything and we should take legal advice if we wanted any recourse. All we wanted was an apology and the place cleaned. Absolute shower of a company with no accountability and no customer service skills. Avoid.

Currently staying at a property in Salcombe managed by Coast & Country Cottages. Apartment is great but the service by C&CCis nothing short of appalling!
Rang them today to ask about rubbish bags and where to get them to comply with the instructions left in the property. Spoke to a person called Jesse, who told me he could not answer a question on rubbish bags as I had not booked the property and so it was against GDPR ru.es to answer my question related to this booking!!! I have read about excuses used by Companies to avoid answering questions but using GDPR as an excuse not to answer a simple question on rubbish bags must take the biscuit!! I said I wanted to speak with a manger and was told it would be 2-3 days to call me. I will have left the apartment by then. Who are these people!!! So be careful booking through Coast & Country Cottages as customer service is non existent.

The staff at Newport were extremely helpful with the last minute booking and went above and beyond with that incidence and the next one too- despite the second property not actually one with which they had previously dealt!
They were friendly and well mannered (though professional),
diligent and efficient and I would most definitely use C&C Newport again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating from me!
Both properties are very different from eachother but would stay in either again.

I had the unfortunate experience of using Coast and country Salcombe to manage my property and it was the most unprofessional and dire experience. They lie, they overcharge, they are rude and apathetic and do not want to deal with issues they cause.

Stolen bedding, missing bedding replaced with absolute crap, White Company bedding left stained and or replaced with Primark bedding. When addressed it was not even acknowledged and zero apology! No point arguing with stupid people. Do not work with them, they lie, take no responsibility for not managing and sending cleaners and left us in a mess.

I received a formal complaint from a guest due to their incompetence- absolute joke!

Trust pilot.. you need minus 5 stars.. they don’t deserve 1 star!!

As a family we are disgusted with Coast and Country cottages. We booked a top of the range house for my Mum who was diagnosed with cancer and wanted to spend a week in her favourite place looking at the view. Unfortunately her health unexpectedly declined very quickly and she is under palliative care and about to pass away. When we emailed to explain the situation to ask if there is anything we can around postponing or cancelling due to my mother dying, they haven’t acknowledged it in any way. We’ve chased a number of times and tried phoning with no response. Where is the humanity?! I will 100% never book with them again and will actively recommend others don’t either.

Absolutely appalling customer service. I booked through the parent company (Sykes Cottages) but had the misfortune for the property to be managed by Coast and Country cottages. We arrived to find that the changeover hadn't been completed (property not cleaned or linen changed) and there was no out of hours service. When I eventually reached the office the next day they were unresponsive despite promising to call back and rectify the situation. It is incredibly hard to communicate with them due to the automated systems (they still haven't responded to messages sent via the dashboard - their 'preferred' message of communication) and have not apologised. A speedy sorry would have significantly helped. Mistakes happen - it's how you deal with them that counts. I would avoid booking with them at all costs.

We stayed at 1 Lindisfarne cottage last week. Very pleasant cottage, clean and comfortable, kitchen reasonably well stocked, beds comfy. cooker a little hard to turn on. Unable to use sitting area(a shame as we had some sunny spells), because a mercadese car had parked right outside our window, and in front of the chairs.

Do NOT book with this company, there customer service is non existant !!

Booked a holiday paid in full but then needed to change due to a new job, their poor customer service meant that they did not organise this and I am now almost £2k now and no holiday honestly do not book with these they are now like a third party booking service not local offices like it used to be and they just do not care !!

I have called emailed and they just do NOT get back to you.

The customer service in dealing with a problem of the electricity cutting out several times over 2 days was appalling in my opinion. Automated, no-reply emails leading to a page that didn't exist, or phone calls to a central office that are passed onto local office or the owner; or emails and mobile phone messages sent when we had already informed them we had no wifi (as electricity was off) and no signal at the property. We had to leave a day early because of the inconvenience and our request for a courteousy gesture of a small refund was totally ignored. Don't book with them!

Absolutely appalling experience, extremely unprofessional and chaotic. We would never book another stay through Coast & Country.

Terrible service. I was a landlady with them but as I hardly got any clients at all - 1 for the whole summer - and I wanted to rent it to a Ukrainian family, I withdrew. I was then charged over £1000 for withdrawing despite the fact they weren’t getting me any tenants. I have since been renting on Airbnb while waiting for the Ukrainian family and have got a five star rating and full bookings. Terrible service, as a holiday home owner I’d recommend staying away.

My husband and I have just returned from a weeks break in Dartmouth and stayed at The Old Wash House. From beginning to end the whole experience was delightful . Despite having to postpone twice due to COVID , the owners maintained contact with us throughout, giving us the confidence to continue with the break. From the minute we walked into the cottage , we were struck by the care that had been taken to welcome us and ensure we had everything (and more) , we needed to make this important time special. Every detail was attended to, right down to dog treats , and the information we needed to use everything in the cottage. The owners respond to any queries , even including where our friends could park their car and where is best for breakfast etc!! Comfortable beds, amazing showers and a lovely outside space. They had also decorated for Christmas in a very tasteful way. We didn’t want to leave and will be booking again as soon as holidays and bookings allow. The cottage is perfectly situated for walks into Dartmouth and is a perfect retreat after a day exploring .

Rented an expensive but beautiful property in Salcombe but the lights didn’t work in one of the en suites which meant no showered or toileting at night in the en suite. Not sure ideal. From then on the customer service was abysmal. Three calls and promises to rectify but by the end of the holiday still no lights. I then contacted to complain on return, finally got an email saying if this had been flagged up it would have been rectified ( literally ignoring previous 7 interactions). I complain again. Finally I was offered a bunch of flowers and a voucher to spend on another holiday with them. ( lol). The stupid thing is if the flowers had arrived on day 2 with an apology I’d have dropped it rather than now feeling insulted. Oh and I also got an email saying your enquiry has been resolved to my satisfaction. NO it most certainly hasn’t. Terrible terrible customer service

We have just returned from a cute little cottage in newport pembrokeshire, while the cottage was very small, it was quaint..but not suitable for anyone with any physical disabilities, due to stairs and low bed. The cottage was not very clean, a cupboard in the kitchen smelled aweful,lots of cobwebs and dirty window frames and skirting boards, we took this matter to coast/country and they said cobwebs come everyday, we was there a week and the cobwebs were there a lot longer than a week and we had no new ones.
Also just bear in mind (even though we knew this) it as not got a back garden, we actually missed this when it was a lovely evening.
Lastly and this is not mentioned on the site, but the cottage is on a very busy and i mean very busy noisy road, which is extremely close to the cottage, if you open a window you cannot hear the t.v or even hear each other speak. It wakes you up as it starts to get busy at 8am and still busy at 7pm, so beware.
It is in beautiful village, great location for visiting other places. I unfortunately would not return to this cottage, as there is some beautiful ones facing the estuary 5 mins down the road, which is peaceful and stunning .

We rented an overpriced, dirty property in Salcombe that was in terrible need of refurbishment. I pointed this all out at the end of our stay and suggested that if they wanted to keep my custom perhaps a voucher towards our next stay might be appreciated, instead I have been send a generic email trying to end the conversation. In my opinion they do not care about their clients. Sadly they clearly think they don't need to as they have a monopoly in the area. In future I will avoid using this company if at all possible.

Beware owned by Sykes Holiday Cottages! In the past had some fantastic holidays and excellent service BUT now owned by Sykes. My parents paid a deposit in October 2019 for a break in a large house for a lot of us in 2020, obviously we couldn’t go due to Covid. My parents transferred it to April 2021. Now they’ve had two weeks of e-mails asking for household details, which were provided many times, we are multiple households so again we cannot go due to restrictions. Having said they will be in touch with the options available they haven’t, UNTIL it gets to the day the balance was due to be paid! After many phone calls and e-mails they are saying my parents have cancelled the holiday, because they didn’t pay the balance as we cannot go, so they are not entitled to the deposit back! I think you’ll find the government say we cannot go. DO NOT use this company awful customer service, named and shamed on the Martin Lewis show and under review with the competition and markets authority.
