I unfortunately do not remember the agent's name, however, she was extremely supportive and thorough with my request to change my login email address. She made the whole process seamless...honestly, massive weight off my shoulders thanks to her! Whoever you are, you are the BEST :)

Extremely disappointing experience. My application was rejected because Co Wheels claimed I had "bad credit" and was considered "high risk". When I asked for clarification, the explanation I received was simply, "It means you have bad credit." Despite providing evidence that my Experian score is 1051/1250 and rated Very Good, they refused to explain the discrepancy or provide any meaningful details.

What made it worse was their refusal to let me speak with a manager, stating that a manager would "only provide the same response". The customer service felt dismissive, unhelpful, and lacking transparency. Responses also tended to arrive very late in the day, making the process unnecessarily frustrating.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Co Wheels to anyone expecting fair treatment or professional customer service.

Have been with CoWheels for many years. Excellent organisation and top-notch customer service. Always able to get through promptly to a real person when needed. They couldn't be more helpful and personable and have always solvede any problem in mere moments. Highly recommended.

Ridiculous sign up process that needs me to make photocopies of my driver's license and get them verified at the post office.

Colossal waste of time, just get a normal rental for a day...

I downloaded the app to have a look at what cars were available in my area. Gaining this information seemed to be within the app only. I had no intention of using the service and have been charged £10. I contacted customer services straight away as was advised it’s non refundable. Very poor customer service!

Having used co-wheels regularly for several years now, I'm generally quite happy with it, but a few recent changes prompted this review (moving from 5 to 4 stars):
- all vehicles in my are have been changed to MGs, including the bulky MG "ZS" which has replaced the Toyota Corolla. With the latter, I could do about 65 MPG, on a similar trip, the MG ZS does about 50 MPG, not so great if you claim to care about environmental impact.
- This is probably explained by Co-wheels being financed by the Chinese manufacturer SAIC (who owns MG). I just recently realised this. It would be better to use locally-made cars..
- The prices have recently increased, both for 1) hourly renting rates and 2) fuel AND EV rates. This was done without warning consumers. I'd understand a small price increase for fuel (given the current context), but why the other increases? And why doing it behind the consumer's back?
- there are generally few electric cars available in my area, and few small cars. Most of the cars are, again, MG ZS which will never be my first choice, but I'm often having to book one because they are the only ones available around.
- I recently had to drive a MG 'urban', let me know that I will not make that mistake twice. The car had its gear selector *on the right steering wheel handle* where the windscreen functions would normally be. Let me tell you that when rain starts to pour while driving is *not* when you want to be changing gear by accident.. certainly a model to be avoided.

On the plus side, it's as usual a very convenient way to move around, the cars are kept in good condition, and the service is usually up to the task. Hopefully the transparency on prices can be improved and the cars can be changed for more environmentally-friendly models at some point!

Excellent service as always. I was a co-wheels member/user many years ago and have just re-activated my account upon returning to Oxford. The staff as always can be counted upon to deliver excellent customer service.

I just came back from the Lake District where I used CoWheels Car Club for a week. It was fantastic, great service, customer service were very helpful with an issue I had at the beginning and they fixed it right away. All in all, it was super convenient, able to pick it up from the station, everything worked perfectly, would definitely use again.

Such a great app! I live somewhere where we have no idea train line and 1 bus service so co-wheels has been amazing. It’s so easy and simple to use and you can speak to someone 24/7

It's not great but bearable because it's the cheapest option.

Watch your back when using this company - make sure that you photograph the vehicle on collection and return, try to avoid using the fuel card - use as little as possible - since you might not get refunded, etc.

I've used a van 4 times probably over 4 or 5 years. There's always minor accident damage. The one I hired today had a failing battery causing fake error messages. I was getting low tyre inflation while they looked fine. Occasionally failing stop/start is the classic first sign that the battery is failing.

The van is never in the correct space because there's always another vehicle parked there. You have to look for it, might be worth allowing 10 minutes for this instead of paying for using it.

It takes a while for them to look at emails if they do at all. Probably best to ring if it's important.

21 July 2026: Co-wheels: "... if you have an accident that is your fault, there is an excess of £1000* payable on cars and £1250 payable on vans.

*£1250 payable for drivers under 21."

1. Make sure that it's not your fault.
2. Surely Co-Wheels can do better than this? I have very few accidents but it's an awful lot if it does happen ...

Been using co-wheels cars a lot recently, been stuck with no car & it's exactly what it's for. Cars have been good although you still have to search to find them. Increased 2 star rating to 4.

The system works really well, much better than the bigger name brand who also has a car club. I was just thinking yesterday how they have the best customer service people I've ever spoken to, but my call today dropped that down a tiny bit and I feel like the person I spoke to fits in more with the general experience of customer service and not the amazing people at cowheels. I find speaking on the phone really difficult and I never feel comfortable with the corporate conversations people force on us. Normally, the cowheels people absolutely stand out for being really understanding and kind. I have been using this service (and getting things wrong in terms of having money in the right account ready to pay!) for years and normally every call is really supportive and has a quick solution rather than being a bit resentful. Give me a while and I'd push this back up to 5 stars.

For the 5th time their VCR MG cars do not work. Buy your own car and save the hassle

Never had a bad interaction with customer services, always eager and willing to help. Cars are great and readily accessible.

I've been using Co-wheels in Edinburgh for a year now and can't praise the company highly enough. I'm lucky to have a car near me, so obviously that makes it more useful. The cars have been fantastic - great condition and fun to drive. It's easy to book one - and yes, there's times when it's not available, but that has been rare. The best thing though is the outstanding customer service. The phone is answered promptly and the queries dealt with swiftly. I overextended a booking by about 30 minutes by accident and they couldn't have been kinder - and it's very cool how they unlock the car instantly for you! I also had a bit of difficulty uploading my new driving licence and again a phone call dealt with it instantly. We chose to give up our car a year ago and to see how we got on. With Co-wheels it's been utterly painless.
