Zero Duty Of Care To Customers - Awful
I left a review on my issue 2 comments below. However since the response i got was to contact via phone and email, this time I used email.
I got a reply straight away, reference security etc. When I asked my question and looking for answers around the boiler specifics, warranty and complaint raised, I've had zero reply in a week.
Ironic that no communication with email when my complaint included no communication and return call as stated by citizen.
This place gets worse and worse, the duty of care to customers is reportable. (Process into this has already begun, they have royally left me, im sure others, in a state of worry and desperation)
I wonder what the reply will be to this message, please call, please email etc.
What do you do when you've tried both of these, and due to poor service, you get no closer..

I have been a tenant for over 5 years…
I have been a tenant for over 5 years and have sent numerous letters about my health problems and not being able to climb the 4 flights of as there is no lift due to having spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis in my hips knees and ankles I am classed as disabled and walk with a walker I have been told by Carter Williams who is the housing manager that don’t worry when I have the operation I will be able to run up the stairs this is not acceptable and I am a pensioner aged 73

couldn’t recommend enough !!
me and my partner are first time renters we both don’t really know the whole process with renting a property but Tommy could not of been any better the most approachable person we could of asked for, we viewed the flat on the 23/4 and had moved in on the 6/05 it was so smooth sailing not a single hold up. He was so helpful with everything any question he got back to me instantly even once we had moved in we got a call from him to make sure the move had gone well and everything was right, really made us feel like he cared which was lovely seen as how stressful moving can be :))
Really could not recommend citiZEN and tommy enough made moving so easy and stress free :)))

Wouldn’t give them one star
Wouldn’t give them one star. Bad housing company . Housing officer is not good either. Don’t do the repairs and leave you waiting a very long time before anyone comes out. Disgusting take our rent but don’t do the repairs the company needs shutting down. Treat us badly aswell get the odd few workers who generally try to help but if all comes from main head office they don’t care they don’t do the jobs!

Absolutely appalling housing…
Absolutely appalling housing association they for one do shoddy work when they come out . Secondly quick to take your rent money yet won’t do any home improvements that need doing yet quick to take your rent money. I need my roof re felting and new windows certain people living in same street or adjoining street get improvements , houses built the same time yet lie to you over the phone saying they are not due until 2031 yet the windows are over 40 years old yet don’t want to do the jobs yet get good money for rent and do nothing so it’s basically a post code code lottery as to hwho gets improvements and who doesn’t

Bad experience trying to get a repair done Ref No 1187081/1 Date 20/3/2025

The reason for giving a 1 star for the reference number above is as follows.
On Sunday 16th March we had burglars removing and breaking fence panels in the communal area that backs on to our garden. The Police where called out and they put a temporary barricade up. Since then some more panels have been broken and removed. We also had dogs coming through the broken fence. (Not the Dogs fault) Last night 3 more panels where broken.
When we raised the repair job on Monday 17th March we where told on the phone that some one would come out on Thursday 20th to fix it. All that happened was they took some photos and was told it would be repaired with in the next 7 days.
Its now the 8th of April 2025 and nothing has been done. Every time I make a phone call on this number 0300 790 6555 I keep being told I will hear some thing in the next 3-5 business days. I was then told today that it is with the Contractor but they could not tell me who the contractor is so I cannot contact them for an update.
It feels like we are being messed around. Does citizen housing not care about the welfare of the tenants?
I would like to know when the communal area fence will be repaired. When this was a council owned property the Council always maintained the fence and used to put anti vandal paint on the top. Since White Friars now called Citizen have too over. The area is getting worse. I could go on but I will leave it at that for now.
Not very happy at all how we have been treated so far.
If Citizen could listen to the recorded telephone calls and perhaps tell me what is going on that would be great.

Worst service
Worst service. There is an on going leak in my apartment from an apartment above. The lady above is registered with citizens housing and its been 8 weeks citizens have not sorted it yet. There is no electricity in my apartment since the leak started coz it's travelling through wires and after a month of suffering my son slipped and fell in bathroom because of water on the floor and hurt his elbow badly. I had to go to Airbnb coz the apartment was inhabitable and my appliances got damaged due to electrical damage due to water. Its still not sorted
coz they cant find where the leak is coming from and Im bearing so many expenses and free depression because of it. That all while fasting.

If i could give a minus zero i would..my Elderly mother who lives alone called about her heating braking down from Friday and they gave her a 24 hour time slot with nobody turning up, and today is Monday and my mom called back and asked what was happening and they told my mom someone came at 7am and my mom was up from 6am waiting and nobody never came....its zero degrees outside and my poor mom has no heating and it makes me sick to my stomach...people are going to start passing away if they are left to get treated like this.

Very awful
Very awful. Terrible. I have a humming noise in my flat for the past 14 months, they keep lying to me and not doing the repair. They just waste your time and energy and are quick enough to call the police on you. There work is shoddy too. They know where the humming is coming from which is in the basement of block and still not repairing it. Now they want to make a forest on their grounds, what a waste of time and money. Poor service. This is why people call them shitazen

Having read the previous comments I…
Having read the previous comments I feel I have to put forward my opinion. I have been in my house for 25 years and in all that time I have never had cause to complain. Every time I put in a request for repair the issue is promptly sorted, unless its not urgent, when I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks. I had a new kitchen fitted a few years ago which was done quickly and to my own paint/worktop colours etc. So thank you Citizen. 😊

The Worst Housing Association Experience
I had a deeply frustrating experience with Citizen Housing. After being offered a property through the council, we were unexpectedly turned down, allegedly due to discrimination related to my pregnancy. This rejection was not only disheartening but also exacerbated my stress and health issues.
What made the situation worse was the lack of communication. The staff promised to keep me updated but failed to do so, leaving me in the dark. I often felt like I was talking to a brick wall—no empathy, no real assistance, just empty promises. It became a constant battle to get any answers, and I found myself having to chase them for updates, which was incredibly exhausting.
Overall, my experience with Citizen Housing has been disappointing and stressful. I expected better support during a challenging time in my life. I hope they can improve their communication and approach in the future, as the current system is failing those who need help the most.

Citizen were the worst housing…
Citizen were the worst housing association I’ve ever dealt with. I moved out of a Citizen property May 2024 and I asked my housing officer if I could leave the made to measure blinds as it would benefit the next tenant, the housing officer agreed with me. However the blinds were all ripped down and binned. Prior to moving I’d been a tenant with Citizen for eight and a half years, in that time I’d had black mould and bad damp and Citizens answer to this was wash it down, paint it and spray it and then a few months later the damp and black mould was back. I had ant infestations and Citizens answer to that was sprinkle ant powder all over the carpets. Some of Citizens workmen are inconsiderate men that wouldn’t even remove their dirty shoes or put covers on their shoes prior to entering the property. The intercom system needed upgrading as half of the time the system didn’t work. Quite a few times I wasn’t able to get into my flat as my communal key didn’t work and I phoned Citizen at midnight and they told me I’d have to wait until morning for a Citizen employee to come out and repair the communal lock. I’m on a lot of medication and I couldn’t even get into my flat to get it, but Citizen couldn’t care less. GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE WHO RENTS FROM CITIZEN BECAUSE THEY ARE A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. They’re happy to take the rent, but when it comes to getting repairs done or trying to get through to customer services complete waste of time. They don’t even care about the elderly people who that lived near me, as at one point they were having to flush their toilet with a bucket and Citizen wouldn’t be able to do the repair for two weeks. Customer service = useless, Housing Officer = useless, 50% of workmen for Citizen = useless

Customer service, well if that's the title.i would say Joke services.it takes 7 day to 10 days to respond ,unless lost in system.they cannot solve problems,you have to chase them,then it's another 7 to 10 days.overall I put a complai t in April and still waiting for it to be resolved. Resolution team haven't got a clue when there in. The whole company does not talk to each other.only emails.

Absolutely appaling service from…
Absolutely appaling service from Citizen we had 2 washing lines installed by some idiot who couldn't do his job properly they fell down the same day so many excuses about coming to sort them now coming upto a month and still nothing the excuse b4 was needs to men but only 1 installed the first time the excuse this time supposedly short staffed my blood boils with the constant excuses for God sake Citizen man up do what's meant to be done by 1 person feeble lies next step the Birmingham Mail then you'll be the biggest joke around bunch of numpties
