Shower Maintenance, Cleanliness and Freeloaders
The shower maintenance is so poor - one shower was out of service for over four months. That gets fixed another goes out. Then the showers have no hot water!!
Health suite is meant to be booked and paid for but it is regularly entered by freebies - not a problem for me when enough space but frequently it fills up with freeloaders. The gym staff have to be more proactive in managing this!!
The pool does not appear to be cleaned. The changing rooms are not clean either and some of the customers should be ashamed of themselves as they leave soiled nappies for others to dispose off. Increase the cleaning please

Terrible maintenance of swimming pool facilities…
Terrible maintenance of swimming pool facilities. Showers have not been working properly for weeks in the changing area. Today all the showers were cold, toilets were disgusting and hairdryer was not working. These issues have been ongoing for weeks and nothing seems to ever resolve. If you can afford to pay a bit more go somewhere else as this is a council led rip off.

unjustified price for services
unjustified price for services. there are not enough exercise machines inside, some basic exercise machines are missing, basic exercise machines such as a bench press are generally in one copy, this is extremely ineffective. exercise machines break down and remain untouched for several weeks, or even longer. the condition of the gym itself also leaves much to be desired. in general, the gym is frankly terrible, I would not recommend it to anyone!

Things can be improved
Cleanliness could be better. Gym smells bad from the moment you enter and until you leave. Toilets are dirty and the trainer lady isn’t very friendly or kind.

Swimming Lessons
Swimming Lessons we seem to have a different teacher every week. Most of which are inexperienced and not confident enough to teach the lesson.
Also parents have to watch the lesson in a horrible room on a horrible monitor where you can hardly see your child.
This is my second Better venue and quite honestly they do not offer value for money.

Expensive the price
It really it expensive for that price.I thought the membership i could use to go around Waltham Forest borough to use the facility. But it only allowed to use Leyton leisure centre.

Basic offering, often full (but good to have gym & pool)
Better offers basic gym and swimming facilities. In my local gym, Leyton, the space vs memberships they offer often means the gym is full or near full.
It’s particularly noticeable in the free weights area. The number of benches and weights v people often means a 30 minute weight just to be able to use equipment.
Seems to be much more of a focus on cardio equipment in this gym + some of the equipment like benches are pretty tattered.
Basic standard. Good offering gym & pool on one membership, that’s the reason I went for them over some of the budget or big name gyms. Pretty middle of the road in quality.

Kerry an excellent member of staff ...
1 member of staff was not helpful at all, talking over me while talking to other customers in the Que behind me and ignoring me on my face.
After all that she could not help me and kept saying I had not applied properly and that I didn't have my Internet on.
Then I was referred to Kerry @ Leyton leisure centre, who was amazing. Excellent customer service. She couldn't fix the problem on the app that I had re my membership but she made me log into their WiFi and then said that it's not an internet issue and that it seems like the app was down and then she went out of her way to get me in to the activities that I had tried to book without any hesitation this all was done on last minute. Straight after dealing with me she approached another customer again with out any hesitation. Kerry has an excellent customer service and it's not widely seen.its a shame that we lack this kind of service from all areas. Genuinely passionate and hard worker and is not in the job for the money.

All in all a lovely centre
I really like how easy it to use the app to book and cancel my booked activities.
I would say the showers in the swimming pool locker area need to be kept cleaner and in better working order.
The staff at the reception of Leyton Leisure Centre need to be more polite and professional when dealing with customers. Might be better only having one reception staff who is better trained in dealing with people and then a self service entry for customers like the Leyton Leisure Centre gym next door.
Staff need to remember not everyone that walks through the doors knows everything about the centre and may need guidance to get the best possible experience, however I have noticed staff members being abrupt with customers and their tone not being very professional.
All in all a good leisure centre.

Very friendly staff
Very friendly staff. At reception and at the pool.
Going at off-peak times means no rush. But does get more busy as you get to peak times.
Pool is a good warm temperature, and has a sauna and steam room right next to the main pool.
Very clean. Good place.

The classes are varied and the teachers are amazing.
The classes are varied, the trainers are wonderful, but at Leyton Leisure center the conditions are terrible. For 2 weeks the water in the bathroom has been ice cold, the showers are broken and no one is doing anything. For this reason I was unfortunately forced to cancel all my water activities. I got a really bad cold.

Unfortunately when we arrived for the first swimming lesson they told us that the lesson had been taken early in the morning. But nobody told us. Unprofessional behaviour!!!
