Better - Grove Wellbeing Centre Arvostelua 

Where do you start?
Grove Wellbeing Gym reopened last Tuesday (1st September) following a closure to get a new lick of paint. Even after a new paint job the same problems exist. 1st day back (1st session), no paper towels, no
cleaning liquids, although in saying this the machines were clean as nobody else had been using them. As the week went on, still no cleaning materials were provided, machines got dirtier and dirtier. No staff members in gym, except whoever flicked a switch in the switch room to turn machines on. Sadly in other words, no actual checks done to check whether machines were fit for use!! Yesterday, again we visited gym for the 1st session of the day, again no cleaning materials, the treadmills and other machines were filthy beyond normal as if no cleaning was being carried out or checks done. Again today, the same issues. Sadly you have to question whether management are up to the job. In the two years I have been regularly attending Grove Wellbeing, I have yet to see the manager doing a walk around and wonder whether they understand, they have a duty of care under health, safety and environmental legislation, to ensure the building is fit for use before it opens, as the manager only seems interested in the classes first thing in the mornings by looks of it!!

We are now seeing more in the way of cleaning materials to clean down machines and i thank you for listening to our concerns.
Although this morning, we were kept waiting at the temporary reception ages to be able to enter the area of the gym.
Shocked is an understatement, when we actually got permission to enter, we found the gym already in use. With a person already well into their session, when they overheard me saying to my partner "it seems rules are only for some" the person took off their headphones and replied "I am staff".
Can someone tell me......is their a hierarchy of rules? Where users of classes or staff, have more rights to use the centre than users/members/ratepayers.
The ignorant/arrogant way the person spoke telling us, they, as a staff member were entitled to use the gym before it opens to the public, really sums up what i have been saying for months in my reviews and no one in authority within the centre or in GLL can answer.....why is users treated as second class, whether in ensuring the centre is available to everyone on an equal basis and ready for everyone at same time. Sadly also I would have thought, if the gym was ready for use, surely a walk around to ensure that a duty of care was in place, it would have shown no audio or television was working.

Can I point out that GLL/Better already have my membership number and details.
The General Manager Roma Doherty sent me an email back in April when I first sent a review to Trustpilot, demanding I speak to her instead of doing a review. I left my mobile number at reception in Grove Wellbeing several times, although it was alleged she had tried on several occasions to contact myself. I find this hard to believe since I go to the gym at least 3 times a week.
As said thank you for replying, I do hope you make contact and we can speak regarding issues in the centre.

I like the welcome on arrival all staff are friendly and helpful. Great activities warm and comfortable and good location

Gym is out of date with old and rusty equipment. The heart monitors on the cross trainers don't work. Not even a pec dec machine. Trying to find a straight barbell not there. Was A lot better when the council ran it

Joined for adult swimming lessons. My younger son is doing there, taking up swimming lessons for over a year now. Watching him swimming I also thought to give it a go. I have been enquiring about adult swimming trainer ever since my son started his lessons. This time fortunate enough to get one now. Started the lessons last week. Just 2 week old student. But my teacher "Sean" is really nice. Very friendly and always encouraging. Needless to say about other staff members they are absolutely brilliant. I truly enjoy the place. There is a library as well. Another area you can explore. Very friendly people and atmosphere. I recommend this place to all those who wants to do something else in their life other than the usual monotonous routines.

Gym facilities are old and out of date, many of the weight machines are rusting

I attended the aqua aerobics class. It was fantastic and the coach gave us all attention and supported us throughout.

Daily barrier never open using a card gave me by customer services. Always I've to wait for someone from customer service who open it for me.

Atmosphere is good and staff are friendly, however they should really invest in better equipment. Half the time stuff is missing. The D-handles that’s are there aren’t even the same length.

Excellent communication from the staff with clear instructions which focused on health and safety. Staff watched the kids closely and intervened if there was any sign of concern or anxiety from any of the children. His first class was....First class! Thanks.

I’ve been using Better pools for the last few weeks, approx every other day and each time I’ve visited I haven’t been disappointed.

Changing areas are clean, pool is well attended and pleasant and staff are very helpful. For £25 per month it’s a bargain!

I booked a lane there was no lanes up A lady got into my lane to swim and I only had 4 lengths to go.I asked the life guard why there wasn't a lane up and he said there wasn't a lot of people using lanes.He then asked the lady to move and apologised to her for me asking.Totally unnecessary and the embarrassment of both of us could have been avoided if he had of out the lane up.

Hi I have been to the Grove swimming pool 3 times this week.The changing rooms smell of urine floors aren't clean.there was a dirty cotton wool ball and muck on the floor of one of the changing rooms.It has been there since Tuesday.Pool closed at 1pm on a Thursday for staff training surely this can be done at an off peak time between 10.30 and 12.Lunchtime suits me to fit in a swim. Staff are lovely and very friendly just need to step up the cleaning rota.

The Grove is unfortunately very run down compared to other Better centres

The staff were obsolutely 1st class,made me fell as if I belong there;that's the sole reason I signed up.
