Better - Gosforth Leisure Centre Arvostelua 65

Facilities are generally excellent with a very well equipped and well maintained gym. I have only just joined, but so far it seems the only place to get changed is a shared unisex changing room which is also used by swimmers, so the floor is always wet and you need to lock yourself in a tiny cubicle. A male changing room for gym users would be better. Some of the staff seem a bit disinterested - not really focused on the customer but prepared to answer questions.

Gym could do with supervising when school children are in, keeping them moving instead of sitting on their phones taking up equipment and messing about.
More small pool access and classes later in the evening for people working. Overall not too bad though.

Went through all the machines and got a full workout plan.

The staff are always friendly and helpful. The changing areas are clean and tidy. Would be good to have more lockers and changing rooms at Gosforth - some people use lockers without putting the coin in to lock them preventing those who have the coins from using the lockers. Some people put their things in the cubicles, then go for a shower, preventing others from using the lockers

The fitness team are really nice considerate people and seem knowledgeable about the different exercises benefit . My only confusion with my hitt class is the gym has a few different pieces of equipment eg battle ropes , kettle bells but my classes to date are a repeat of dumb bells only

My daughter attends swimming lessons here every Saturday, no issues whatsoever about her lessons or teachers. The issue I have is the changing areas. My daughter usually gets changed in the communal changing room, however, we have seen men walking around fully nude and using the toilet with the door open. Not what I want my 7 year old to be seeing. So I've started taking her into the female changing rooms, however the past two times we've been in, there's been men in there!! We had to wait for them to leave each time before getting dressed because my daughter felt uncomfortable. If it carries on, we may be looking to take her elsewhere for her lessons. I didn't make a big deal about it with her there and told her it was fine, but it's not, it's wrong.

Thank you for the response. I appreciate you passing this on. I'm not too sure what can be done about the issue, but if it happens again I will report it to staff. As I mentioned I just didn't want to cause any kind of scene in front of my daughter. She loves going here and will continue to, unless the issue keeps happening. Thank you.

Found the staff very helpful. If I needed to know anything as a new member they were happy to explain everything.

Had a lovely swim yesterday and booked another one for Friday. Can't wait to do some classes and also use the gym.

Fantastic, well equipped gym with friendly, helpful staff.

We signed up for swimming lessons and after the first lesson was cancelled we have had very little communication as to how this will be reimbursed. I tried calling but just get bounced to the main centre and then when visiting the actual leisure centre the staff were lovely but again could give me no more information. Very disappointing

Better UK offer fantastic value for money. The Gosford swimming baths gym I attended have really good facilities and fantastic staff,
The only reason I am giving it two stars is because I lost my enthusiasm for going to the gym once they changed the layout of the changing rooms. Although there had always been one good shower in the men’s changing rooms, all the others were pretty poor with most only operating for five seconds with very low pressure, so you had to stand with your back pressing the shower button in order to get a constant flow of water
However, there was one shower which was placed in a cubicle which worked reasonably well giving you a full 20 to 30 seconds with one push, and the pressure seem to be slightly better than the rest.
Around six months ago, they changed the changing rooms to mixed sex, but they never had the insight of spending all that money to improve the showers. They had also taken away the one good shower that was in the cubicle.
Because of this, and the cubicles being very small to get changed in, I decided to leave the gym.
It’s kind of defeats the object when you have to exercise, and then go home for a proper shower after exercising because the shower facilities are very poor.

The pool for swimming for fitness should be open later than 6pm during the summer holidays for people that work full time and can only go swimming in the evening during the summer months .Also the leisure centre in West Denton still hasn't even started being built yet !
