Better - Abraham Moss Leisure Centre Arvostelua 

For a gym in one of the biggest Muslim communities, it needs more women only steam room and sauna and swimming sessions or a separate room where woman only can access all week. Would be better to have gender separated pool changing rooms as well, it’s very uncomfortable having so many men around. Would be better if there was more than 2 pool changing showers as I’ve seen men washing their privates and having full showers (even with swimming shorts it’s disgusting watch men putting their hands down there in public due to the lack of private showers) in steam and sauna room, very uncomfortable and unhygienic.

They don't even do gymnastics. I paid for a month of lessons for my daughter,we walked in and as soon as I seen the setup I just knew. My daughter stayed for the lesson regardless as I'd paid and she also thought it would get better further into the class. It's essentially a PE lesson with a few handstands and cartwheels threw in. They had 2 pieces of equipment that relate to gymnastics but they were shown nothing and taught nothing. They were even using football equipment and getting them too roll round between them holding a ball. I've signed her up for a free trial at kidsfinity . I've only gave them one star because no stars weren't an option.

I’m loving being a new member of this much improved leisure centre. The pool area is lovely as are all the staff. My personal favourite is the aqua class. My only issue is when booking a swim for fitness I do wish people would use the lane they best suit, ie having someone going extremely slow in the fast lane can cause unnecessary issues for others, perhaps lifeguards should be guiding people to the best lane for their ability. Other than that I have nothing but praise for this gym

I have very good experience for swimming.

In gym area people sitting on exercise machines busy scrolling on mobiles and don't let other people use it.
There should be restrictions to use mobile while exercising.
Some people have very limited time to complete tast and can't wait.

we were playing Badminton yesterday 6th of august and about 9;50 in the evening 2 members of staff came in to say the time is up so we all started getting our stuff Ready and as we were getting out they switched all the lights off and because we had some kids in the Hall as well i went to the reception and said to the lady that we had kids with us if some one would have got hurt what would have happened but instead of saying sorry the lady laughed and said if some one had got hurt we would have sorted it so my advise is to every one plz be extra careful when you taking your kids cuz the staff in there dont care

I have been a member of Abraham Moss Leisure Centre since, approximately, January 2024 and I pay £39 per month. It is a convenient distance and it has a swimming pool. Unfortunately, I cannot say that it is value for money and I did not enjoy my visit today. I can find no way of leaving a review on the Better app so I am leaving it here.
Today I entered the building at approximately 11:45am and was tailgated by a woman. I was wearing a red polo neck and she was wearing a black headscarf, if you want to check the security camera. The alarm went off but staff did nothing. This kind of apathy makes me fear for my safety.
Changing room 1 is filthy and has been for some time. There is no deep cleaning done in this place. I would have included pictures so you can see but there is no option . There is wet paper towel thrown against the toilet cubicle walls that has also been there for some time. I stepped into the first cubicle in changing room 1 and it smelled of urine. The machine that spins swim wear often smells disgusting.
A few weeks ago I told staff of broken glass
In the changing room. It was still there two days later so I picked it up I’m some paper towel and took it to reception.
I like to attend the swim for fitness sessions. I am pleased to say my pace has improved
Over the last 18months. However, there is nowhere for me to swim and maintain my pace. The pool is divided into slow, medium and fast lanes but this rule is never enforced so I have to constantly stop or endure abuse from other swimmers if I accidentally touch there toes when I catch up.
The scheduling for the pool and health suite is restrictive. I have to plan my visits around the their schedule instead of the gym fitting round me so I believe I could receive better value for money elsewhere. The pool is often opened late for my sessions. Sometimes it’s not ideal when I go to swim for fitness and have to share the pool with 40 screaming kids.
The staff are very slow to respond to any breakdown in gym equipment. It took quite a while to even fix the music in the gym recently. Now, there is never any sanitising liquid for the cleaning of machines before use so I dread to think of what germs build up. There were cleaning materials supplied to begin with but this has since stopped. This is inappropriate in a post pandemic world and I think this is indicative of how standards have generally slipped.

I booked a slot in the women’s only gym. The gym was packed and no machine was available. It actually felt overcrowded.
I spoke to reception and explained I had booked a slot. I was told there was nothing She could do and to use the mixed gym instead. I explained I chose this gym because it had a women’s only section. I strongly believe if a person has booked the gym in advance they should be given priority, what is the point of booking?? The staff were unhelpful and did not try to resolve this. Perhaps I should be compensated for a wasted trip.

Took ages to sort out my membership and I lost out on going in the sauna as it was turned off before I got there

I previously wrote a good review for Better but am now changing that as they have cancelled my membership.
Although my application for senior free swimming was accepted and all documents sent and checked by staff I have now been told that I do not live in Manchester !
I have lived in Manchester all my life but apparently I have to pay c tax to Madrid and not Bury , which incidentally is in Greater Manchester.

It's far away from our place but only going here due to cleanliness and good cooperation.
Going 3 time in week only woman swimming

Wide range of fitness classes including women-only which is great. No-contract membership which is excellent.
Sadly the cleanliness isn't so good especially in the fitness studio and swimming changing rooms. The amount of hair lying everywhere is sometimes too much.

I have worked in customer service roles my whole life. And that means I understand the difference that a smile makes.

I used to take my 3 sons to swimming lessons the are really good swimmers now am glad I took them for the lessons. Now I take my daughter almost 2 years am happy the renovated everything it's so clean now the toilets swimming area is better then before everything is just nice now. The staff are good and helpful, I need to start Gym soon so going to apply for the membership I love the Gym where only women no men so definitely will go

Attended the family fun swim this Easter holiday it was fantastic, showers were warm, felt the shower gel provided was a great touch

Fantastic experience, played badminton with friends, the receptionist was friendly, the courts were clean and the centre was very bright and appealing

Super friendly and informative staff.
Very clean , easy to book classes , women only classes , value for money.
Parking free onsite.

Simon Dean (Centre Manager) took me through the sign up process on my mobile. His customer service skills and patience were exemplary.
