The frequent information sent to me about potential ancestors has enabled me to learn much about my ancestors and the areas that they came from. The information is available from so many different sites, docs etc that I am able to triangulate for authenticity.

Ancestry has opened up the always unknown Pandora’s box. I’ve now traveled to countries to stand where my ancestors were and met family members that are so incredible that I would never of met.

Using the ancestry.com.au DNA back-engine to confirm inter-relationships between extended members of my overall family has been very valuable. For certain well-established family lines with known connections, the common DNA confirmed what was already known using paper-trails and usual methods. For previously unknown lines it has been invaluable. So far, I have found at least five first cousins who were totally unknown.

We paid for a kit for myself Fay Stokes and my husband Torvald Fonsboel same address 6 Station Lane Williamstown Melbourne Australia. My husband never received his advice. I was asked to go again as my first attempt wasn't successful. Redid the saliva test sent it back but have not received anyt advice either.

Easy to follow web pages. Lots of records available, although I get a little annoyed when looking at family trees that others have posted, you select the set of trees that has the family, open one of them, and when your finished it takes you back to the original screen that shows the trees with similar surname and you then have to start again, selecting that name that has the trees associated to it, instead of stay with that set from the start., otherwise, its a great site

Overall, enjoy using the Ancestry site, however, I find it annoying when updating information is updated.

Previously, when you added a new hint to a person, you used to be able to view their spouse and children on the same page. Now one has to jump back and forth to confirm that one has the right person.

Overall, enjoy using the site and receiving hints every week.

Hints are a great idea as most of my ancestors are in UK and we cannot keep travelling to there every time we receive new information.

Have been able to find many new ancestors and have connected with many new cousins. Still have one brick wall. It may never get broken down.

I would like to be able to edit my own known relationship if your options don't cover what I know to be correct

I found out more about my family members confirming my thoughts.

I've been subscribing to Ancestry for a couple of years, having completed a DNA test. It's been a fascinating and revealing journey to date! I wish my late father could have known about my discoveries of his family history.
I always suspected we had solid ties to Scotland. It appears we have illegitimate but nevertheless 'royal' connections to two Scottish kings and a Danish princess!
It's also been amazing to learn so much more about my mother's family history. Ancestry has been able to access German records going back to the 14th and 15th centuries (not available when I joined).
I now have over 3,000 people on my family tree! It's really becoming a little 'unwieldy", however, you can easily trace the particular lines to the present day.
I would highly recommend Ancestry to anyone interested in their family tree, and in understanding 'where they have come from'!

Ancestry has been a tremendous help in discovering our ancestors and being able to connect with long lost family members. The amount of information on Ancestry is unbelievable! The Ancestry site is easy to use. Easy to share so that other family members can become contributors to the family tree. If you want to delve into family connections and discover your roots, then Ancestry is the go to site.

I found my Grand-father (with 95% certainty) and, along the way, found several 2nd cousins, one of which did not know who her father was. We eventually found her half-sister, so she was able to know her birth family background.
I also discovered a number of misconceptions in my extended family and several newspaper stories of interest.

In my experience Ancestry keeps adding improvements

the information I obtained from Ancestry has enables me to discover so much about my family as well as my husband's family. their records have been invaluable

It did not help me much with my own family but it did with my ex who was adopted. Our daughter wanted to know who her birth Grandparents were.
I have found out a lot from members, DNA and also a My Heritage member.

Before joining Ancestry I knew very little about my bio family, scanty knowledge only from my mum
Over the last 5 years as an Ancestry member I have discovered so much!
You do need to evaluate your green leaf hints carefully though, many trees have wrong information
I learnt this the hard way now I’m going through & getting records that back up those hints
If they aren’t there I delete the person & try again
Having my dna done also led to a few surprises both maternal & paternal ones too!

I have been using Ancestry for over 20 years. Over that time the ever-growing digital records I have had access to through this platform has grown my tree in depth and detail I could not have imagined when I started out all those years ago. Inconsistencies in the details in my early research have been resolved, and new avenues of research have been uncovered.

As I have fairly common family surnames, I found having my DNA tested, helped to verify that I was on the 'right' track.
Tips can be helpful, but I find research for records is also required.

I’ve really enjoyed investigating these new connections that Ancestry has been highlighting. It has been a pleasing confirmation of my research but also highlighted American connections I haven’t seen before.
