Statutory Maternity Pay
Right from the beginning when I first used Umbrella Company UK they were brilliant. Always happy to explain and I was never made to feel as though I was asking a silly question. However, I have recently notified the company that I am pregnant and would like my maternity leave to begin on the 20th of December this year (2024) and Daniela and Sarah Cardy could not have been more helpful. A process I thought was going to take a really long time with lots of back and forth, was made ever so simple by both. They sent me all the relevant information that was explained thoroughly and in a way for people to understand (unlike the GOV website!) and just like that, my maternity leave was registered, SMP applied for and payments scheduled with a full breakdown of payments and when they would be paid to me sent. I cannot thank you both enough for your help. I would highly recommend this company.

Good with low fees
I was a contractor for over 3 years with UCUK.
The sign-up process and background checks are well structured and quick to complete. (It's still a lot obviously but as painless as I've seen it).
Fees are lower than average.
Payments are prompt.
Salary sacrifice is possible although a slightly higher fee applies.
Queries and problems are handled really well, by email or voice. I had a couple of unusual scenarios with they handled very neatly.
I don't like the name but who cares?
There's a checkered history in company house where they renamed themselves. Don't know why they didn't pick something better at that time.
The name can confuse employeers/agencies. "Umbrella Company UK", "Yes but which one?" .... its called "Umbrella Company UK"!

Mia in Customer Services was super-helpful and patient with my questions. With her advocacy the management agreed to waive their weekly fee due to my very part-time Speech Therapy position. Mia also gave me some advice about claiming expenses from my employer, and couldn't have been kinder.

Straightforward and easy
Spoke to helpful staff about what they do and their process. I did my application online which was quick and straightforward. Received quick confirmation which was great. I would recommend using them again.

My initial phone with Liam was exceptional. He provided a straight forward and informative understanding of the umbrella company service provided. All questions were answered satisfactory level. The onboarding e-portal was easy to use and navigate. Subsequent emails and advice have been helpful and point of contact.
