Received harassing letters saying property under investigation.
Spoke to operative after 11 min and she wanted to waste another 10-15 min cancelling her.

Advised don’t watch BBC and they’re not unbiased as they claim.
Licence fee should be abolished and BBC like any other you choose to watch or NOT.

Tried to get the details on my tv licence changed from my husband (who died 13 years ago) over to myself. I have contacted them countless times but nothing happens. Today I decided I was going to succeed in this task, I am now bald after tearing my hair out!! What a useless site and trying to get to talk to a human being is even worse. No one answers, they hang up. No wonder we are failing in everything. I wonder, after 13 years and to protect my sanity, it may have been better to cancel the licence and get a new one.

I renewed my TV license paying £180.00 which is just about equal to one weeks total pension! Yes I did cancel a renewal Direct Debit they added for August 6th 2027. At 88 years of age I may well be a star by that time & do not wish my Solicitor the hellish time, he would no doubt experience, trying to obtain a refund. Their Email "no reply" states I need "to set up a new DD as they won't be able to take my next payment so I will not stay licensed." Yet again I feel company payment renewals are a discrimination against the elderly. How many of their customers will pass overnight tonight whilst they remain in pocket?

I purchased a licence to watch world cup football then cancelled after it finished since I don't watch or record live TV nor use BBC iPlayer. Despite informing them and having the licence cancelled I'm still getting reminders about having a licence. I've now received a letter stating no licence needed which is valid for a year. Thank you.

After paying £180 mistakenly buying a license they robbed my £15 as they only refunded £165. These should be investigated by mps and BBC watchdog as they must be getting away with this. On website it states full refund if within 14 days but they ignore this. Uncaring.

I don't like your marketing campaign of scare tactics. I don't mind Netflix, Amazon etc as they let me choose whether I want their service or not and don't harass me if I don't.

I came in this country in 2012 I received letter I have to pay tv licence I call them and I said I even don’t have tv why I have to pay man came and visited me and he said but you have your phone you need to pay tv licence my daughter bought tv in 2023 when she started work and we don’t watch tv only Netflix and my daughter find out we don’t need to pay tv licence bc we don’t watch bbc and she cancelled last week so I paid since 2012 till July 2026 for tv licence which we never watch bbc channel.

How is it that this is the only company who you have to contact every year to say I don’t want or use your awful service?

The amount of paper waste is disgusting and disgraceful.

Disgusting people, shamelessly engaged in a government backed extortion racket.
The insolence of these people just biblical no offence to the elderly but they virtually expect you be in a hospice to be excempt, and want to exclusively own the concept of Live Broadcast and expect us to fund this nebulous and absurd notion.
And just another example of tax payers providing a menace the means to be gainfully employed at our expence.

Tvl use AI to answer their telephone. Really bad move and after going through this dead AI voice for 10 mins tto be asked by a mail voice to now to respectful to a real person takes time. It is really bad . Use website where possible.

A robot with hearing problems. A website with circular algorithms. An unhelpful chatbot that also sends you round in circles. Here's a tip - if you want to speak to a human you have to say you can't access the internet. I was forced to that. First human bureaucratic, unhelpful and inflexible. Second human (I had to insist) actually dealt with the fairly simple problem. At least I hope she did. Not fit for purpose. It just shouldn't be this difficult. Treat us with respect, says the bot. Yes of course I always do. But its time organisations who have to include that plea woke up to the fact they are not treating us with respect.

If the service was genuinely good, they wouldn’t need to put so many BARRIERS in place to stop people CANCELLING.

NO ONLINE CANCELLATION. You’re forced to call, wait on hold, and listen to repeated attempts to convince you not to cancel.

NO REFUND OFFERED. Rather than offering a refund for the unused portion of your licence, you’re simply told you can continue watching until it expires.

The whole process feels deliberately designed to discourage cancellations rather than provide good customer service.

REMEMBER: You are NOT obligated to let TV Licensing officers into your home without a warrant.

SIMPLE PAYMENT PLAN NOT SO SIMPLE
automated payment line will only take 1 amount so if in credit you still have to pay full monthly payment agents cant decide if your in credit and by how much you tell them you want to pay the amount owed they put you through to the payment line and there are no options but to pay FULL MONTHLY amount (I was also threatened by 1 agent that the TV LICENSE is a priority bill and failure to make payment would result in £1000 or court with costs) I have raised a complaint after speaking to a manager who said "make the payment if the full amount is taken I will refund you" rubbish after I made the payment he left a voice note stating its not possible to refund part payments he can send a cheque or carry the amount forward to next month or refund the full amount (that puts my accounts in arrears that will result in threatening emails and calls)so why did he say he would refund the telephone that he uses is useless you can hardly hear what he is saying, agent today took 10 minutes to transfer because of system errors and accused me of being in financial difficulty's because I requested the refund and also said when I make a payment don't go on loud speaker because that affects the system and he had same problem trying to pay his car insurance like that's my problem. EXCUSES I have been paying this way for years and always make the payment on loud speaker and have always been ask the amount I want to pay not told to pay full amount

Not a chance to get through to them over the phone.... np moving house option other than moving abroad... unless...

Moved into a new property this month and greeted by a red letter threatening final stages of investigation, when I haven't even been living here, after it had been vacated and empty for a month.

There's no tv signal, I have no fixed internet, and BBC TV is crap, and they resell the programmes paid for by licence payers to overseas channels. Heavy handed, and unnecessary.

I have left the uk and my house at the beginning on 2026, país regularly the licence until then. The monthly fee is extortionally more expensive than the yearly one, so I basically covered the entire year even though there’s no tv at home in London anymore for anyone to watch. Now they’re threatening to inspect my house and prosecute, and there is no way to contact them. The website has been broken for a year, the only part that works is how they can get paid. Shame on you. Shame

I applied for my TV licence after when. I moved talk about useless first I try the weekly payment which is really expensive. So then I went for a monthly direct debit and they are charging £37 pound a month. I wouldn't mind if we had decent quality TV the BBC is the biggest culprit with there crap on TV never again so I now cancel the licence

I signed up to my TV licence online, the Direct Debit was set up online, happy to take money!
I am absolutely disgusted with the TV Licence being required in England. There are so many alternative streaming platforms offering better quality and choice for a fraction of the price. I am disgusted with the quality of BBC especially news reporting and history of questionable presenters, I do not want to pay to support this. I want accountability which I do not feel is available at the moment.
Currently trying cancel my licence as we speak! You cannot cancel purely online as you can sign up!!!!!!! You have to ring?!!!!! Currently been on hold 27 minutes and it’s not a free phone number. It advises you not to just cancel your Direct Debit as it won’t cancel the Licence and they will pursue you for debt!!!!! Please read the news reports also the statistics for who TV Licensing prosecute most for failure to pay! Women!!! A Government report factually stated this, and the last percentage was 74% of prosecutions are against women - the BBC then wrote a report, which I have just read whilst on this lengthy hold, which says yes this is the case but it’s not DIRECT BIAS?!!!! What is it then? It’s laughable. What a joke. Steer clear. Total con. Very very angry.
