​I recently rented a Hyundai Tucson from Top Rent A Car at their Sofia Airport location, and the entire experience was absolutely flawless from start to finish.
​The vehicle met every single specification promised during the booking process. It even included the beautiful panorama roof exactly as shown in their description, which was a wonderful bonus for our trip. Driving the Tucson was an absolute pleasure; it performed wonderfully across all terrains. Thanks to the four-wheel drive (4WD), we had no trouble climbing steeper routes and felt like we could go anywhere with total confidence.
​The car is incredibly spacious and comfortable. It easily accommodated our group of four adults and one child, along with all of our luggage—which included three or four 10 kg cabin bags plus everyone's individual small personal bags. Nobody felt cramped, and the trunk space was perfect for our needs.
​We opted for their Premium Coverage package, which gave us total peace of mind throughout the journey. When it came time to head home, the drop-off process was entirely uneventful and stress-free. We returned the vehicle with a full tank of gas. The staff quickly stepped out to inspect the car, confirmed everything was perfect, and immediately processed the credit card transaction to return our security deposit right then and there. The entire return happened without a single problem or delay.
​To top it all off, within just five minutes of completing the paperwork, we were loaded onto their shuttle and taken straight to the airport terminal.

I have rented cars across multiple EU and non EU countries and this was without question the worst experience I have ever had.

Within 24 hours of completely normal driving the entire license plate mounting fell off, not just the plate, the entire mount. Photos clearly show visibly damaged and deformed screw holes, evidence of a botched job that should never have passed any pre-rental inspection.

Instead of taking responsibility for their failure to maintain the vehicle they charged us 500 EUR in fees and forced us to drive back to Sofia wasting a full day and significant costs for two people.

I have rented from Hertz, Europcar, Sixt and many local companies across Europe. Never once have I encountered a company that responds to their own maintenance failure by penalising the customer.

If you have any alternative option for renting in Bulgaria please take it. I want to believe this was an isolated botched job but after hearing about other cases I am starting to think this is simply how they operate.

The reservation voucher didn't indicate the correct drop-off location, since they don't accept car returns at either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 at Sofia Airport, but when you pick up the car, they don't tell you this, and it isn't listed on the reservation sheet either. You have to return the car to their main office, which is about 5 km from Terminal 2. We found this out when we saw that it was time for the office at Terminal 1 to open, but no one showed up. We had to call the customer service line, and the service from Top Rent A Car in Bulgaria was terrible—they were rude and showed no willingness to cooperate or help. When we finally managed to return the car, they made no effort to help us catch the shuttle that was waiting to take us to the airport; instead, they made us wait more than 20 minutes for the airport shuttle to return. We managed to get there and catch our flight with just half an hour to spare. Very poor customer service at the main office at Sofia Airport.

That was the best rent car company i ever usued in Bulgaria. Easy ans cheap, very helpful team.

Служителите бяха много любезни и отзивчиви, обясниха ни всичко подробно, а самата кола беше изрядна и изключително комфортна. Със сигурност ще ги изберем отново при следващото ни идване в Пловдив!

I have used this Company a few times and would have used them more until it came to this year.
I booked a car for 7 days and after 3 days the car broke down....it was unfit for purpose....my wife and i had planned a trip to the lakes on the weekend after working.
We were told to take photos and send them, try to mess with the live battery(?), leave the car for a period to reset and then after all of that didnt work drive it to a garage (3.5 hours wasted) On the way to the garage on a dangerous road it broke down.....(1.5 hours later) a van collected it and we were left to walk 35 minutes into town to get a 35 euro taxi home.....day No 1 gone.
We were offered to be driven by the pick up the 2 hour journey to Plovdiv to possibly(?) Collect a car that night(never) or on the Sunday (?) but the night in Plovdiv would have been at our cost and the petrol and 2.5 hours up the mountain also at our cost OR have a car delivered the following morning. Ok thank you......
The car DIDNT turn up the following day (2 whole days and 35 euros down) but on the following day Monday (18 hours before returning it back to them).
Ivan from customer services stated that in their TERMS AND CONDITIONS they have 3 days in which to replace their rental car that was unfit for purpose so paying for 7 days meant we got it for 5 days and 35 euros down, ruined the whole weekend......what did they offer us.....19.2 euros.....not the taxi fare, not the rental and TOP INSURANCE we paid for......we will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.......the reason why we pay for TOP INSURANCE is so we get a car for the period we have paid for however TOP RENT A CAR think its ok that they supply an unfit for purpose car, you pay the full amount and they can leave you stranded without a car for days, ruin your holiday as its in their terms and conditions!
BEWARE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.....USE EURO CAR OR SOMEONE ELSE!

Your vehicle originally broke down at 12.28 midday Saturday of which you told us to lock up amd let reset (2 hours later at 15.01 the vehicle was started and broke down for good and we have messages from then....the tow truck arrived nearly 2 hours later) we have proof of whats app messages to and from your agent so dont lie to make yourselves look better.
You supposedly (not received) refunded 19.2 euro which IS NOT A days rental with insurance despite it neing 2 days and 35 euro taxi fare......you are liars!
Your covers states 24/7 on your adverts!

Excellent experience with Top Rent A Car throughout, from Sofia to Ruse. I had exactly the car I booked with only a few thousands km. Courteous and efficient staff, in Sofia and Ruse. I appreciated the car delivery service to my hotel in Sofia, which was punctual. Ruse location is ideal to drop or pick up your car before visiting respective neighboring countries. Highly recommended car rental company in Bulgaria in our case.

Very nice and cute vehicle. I enjoyed driving it. The only issue: the max speed is 45km/h and I wasn't informed upon renting it by the staff. So I had to exchange it for another car.

Booked top car rental a couple of times and never had a problem always get the top cover as some of the roads in Bulgaria can be really bad for pot holes as can anywhere So get the extra Insurance for that piece of mind never had to use it. This trip I had to after hitting a pot hole at first everything was great come out within 30 minutes replace the tire payed €140 thinking insurance would pay back dint think anymore. back on the road within an hours great . Time to had the keys back nothing was said soon as I’m at the airport receive an email saying I had to pay for another €150 for another tire as the recovery had replaced was a second had one but would refund for the first one as I can only claim the ones. At no point was I told it was a second had one and there was no spear tire so I couldn’t have replaced it myself. I would have questioned this if I would of know. one for paying €140 for the tire and two because I was making a 150km round trip and there’s tire are just to get you back on the road to the nearest garage to get replaced putting me and my family in danger. Nothing a can do about it now it’s just lost money this is just to warn people about the practice Top cat rental are you to hope this helps someone
