Mia helped me and she’s very sweet and helpful

I wanted to open a great account for my 15 year old, son. I did some research and decided on Step. I filled out all of the information, verification, verification, etc and then funded the account.

The next day I received a vague message about not following the terms of the policyholder agreement and that an investigation had been opened.

Now, they are holding my deposit. I have no access to it. And my son does not have his account. I do not have the money I wired in to open his account. Effectively, unless the money is returned - STEP has STOLEN my deposit!

I’m a small business owner in Northern NJ. I’ve held security clearances for the federal government. I have never been arrested. I have no idea what is going on, and STEP won’t provide me any specific information.

What would you call this situation if not “theft of money”?

About 2-3 weeks have passed since I gave STEP my money.

DON’T USE STEP!!!

I’ve had an awful experience trying to close my Step account. The process requires you to zero out your balance first, but the daily withdrawal limit is under $1,000, which makes it nearly impossible to access your own money if you have a larger balance. I have urgent expenses that I can’t pay because my funds are locked, and support is taking there sweet time even responding to my concerns. If this issue isn’t resolved quickly, I will have no choice but to escalate to the proper regulators.

Just recently Step began charging FEES for transferring money from a Debit account. What used to work so seamlessly for my family with two active teenagers has now been brought to a halt.
Transfers directly from your bank are free but the time it takes to process (5 days) is ridiculous and just doesn't work for us.
I will not "pay the man" to use your service.
Sorry Step, your added fees have lost you 4 customers.

I’ve had this card for over 4 years now, and it’s been not but helpful. Got the step card back in 2021 it has helped me to raise my credit score drastically without any issue or consequences. I highly recommend this card for young preteens or teens+.

I had an issue where my daughter’s birthdate year was incorrect on her personal information. I simply messaged them when I couldn’t alter it myself and within 20 minutes the problem was all fixed and her year of birth was correct. Thank you so much for your amazing customer service skills. I hope to use this platform for a long time.!

Brad is an exceptional person for Step support, very kind and willing to help. He stepped in and offered to replace my card free of charge after I had it taken due to an ATM malfunction. I just want to thank him for making life a little easier.

Ordered from step one for first time but unfortunately didn’t suit my requirements and must say customer service was excellent and return of unused unopened items was easy and refund was quick would recommend giving them a try

I’ve used step for some years now and it’s been great. there has seemed to be an issues so i asked AI to talk to someone about it and someone got to me fist. I got Nicole, she is incredibly sweet and does excellent at helping !

Super easy to figure out the application, great way to save money, & build credit without over drawing or over spending! Have not had any issues with step at all!

Always have answers to my questions and I can't say there is anything I haven't liked since opening my account!!
