A Life-Changing Piano Experience: Ridley Academy Is Pure Brilliance!

I just completed Steve Ridley’s 5-day piano course at Ridley Academy, and I am honestly blown away. I have spent years taking traditional piano lessons, grinding through scales, theory, long practice sessions, and never getting results that felt easy, fun, or natural. In five short days, Steve opened the easy access door to the piano for me in a way no one else ever has. I am having fun with playful beautiful music now.

Steve has brilliantly distilled piano playing into a simple, intuitive, ridiculously accessible method. For the first five days we stayed in the key of C, no sharps or flats, and he taught us chords, improvisation, how to create our own beautiful sounding music, how to accompany ourselves while singing, how to warm up the voice, how to add drum mixes, and even how to find a piano for free or for a great price. It was comprehensive, practical, and honestly fun.

What struck me most is that Steve teaches from his heart. He is enthusiastic and kind, and he has that rare gift of making you feel capable from the very first moment. He is so likable, genuine, and encouraging that you cannot help but succeed.

The results? Stunning. I am now able to sit at my piano and play music that stops people in their tracks. Friends walk into my home and say, “That’s beautiful, I didn’t know you played piano?” My husband has watched me practice, and after ONE short session of simply observing what I learned for a couple of minutes, he was able to play a full song with chords—and he has never been able to make sense of the piano. He doesn’t know the note names and previously could only poke at keys with one finger. After two minutes of watching me improvise, he could improvise too, and he was completely amazed by how good he sounded (honestly, I was too).

I’m actually kind of annoyed at all of my past piano teachers. Years and years of traditional lessons never gave me results like this. I wish I had learned this way from the beginning. Steve’s method made me into an enthusiastic musician—an actual artist—almost instantly (I know it sounds ridiculous but honestly within five minutes I was playing really nice music).

If you are even thinking about learning piano, or if you’ve tried before and given up, or if you’ve taken lessons for years and feel stuck, uncreative, unmotivated… take this course. Ridley Academy is great. This has been the most joyful and easy!!!! musical experience of my life.

I am so beyond thankful for Stephen, my coach Rex, the whole Ridley Academy team and all the beautiful people that are apart of the mentorship community! I have always wanted to learn the piano since I was 4 years old. At 4, I begged my mom to teach me (she took lessons as a kid, and can play pretty well). My mom told me there was no way she could ever teach me and didn't pay for lessons. At 9, I found my dad's guitar in the basement and asked him to teach me with the same response. I wanted to learn the piano and guitar to accompany the songs I made. I was a very misunderstood kid that was told I was too much, too emotional, too loud, too different. I wasn't good at communicating my emotions with words and music has always been my coping mechanism and my way of connecting with others. I didn't find out until I was almost 30 years old that I'm neurodivergent and gifted. I started the mentorship program alittle less than a year and a half ago. Within 3 months I was playing a couple songs when I went to the Veterans (VA) Hospital. The first time I played at the VA hospital I had a women come up to me after playing Save Me by Jelly Roll. She told me that her dad (Vietnam vet) had just started rehab and not doing well but that the song was a source of comfort so she FaceTimed him during my playing. She said he felt so much comfort and was inspired to finish rehab and turn over a new leaf. Since then everytime I play for others in person and online I receive so much love and so many people telling me I brought comfort, healing and/or inspiration. My ability to play piano and sing has become a beautiful coping skill that has gotten me through some of the hardest times of my life. It has allowed me to comfort family, friends and strangers through their hardest moments and inspire other to pursue their dreams. My music has inspired my child who is also very musical to start to learn the piano. I love that my child comes to me to make up an arrangement for the songs she makes by singing. My mother rediscovered her love of the piano through my playing and singing. Now I'm currently working on my first album. I really just feel so blessed and I will never stop being thankful to the whole Ridley Team for helping me make my dreams into a reality and being so supportive along the way! I would recommend them to anyone that wants to learn the piano, even if you have tried to learn before. The program is not like tradition music education. They break it down into small steps that anyone can do.

I’ve been wanting to learn the piano for a long while now and my mom saw this opportunity and got me the class. I’ve been working every day on learning to play since Monday. I have a lot to learn yet, but little by little I’m getting the hang of it. My big win today was being able to play an Adele song to the end!
I still have a lot to learn but this feels pretty big to me! I’m only 13 and now I feel I can learn so much more and grow as a pianist thanks to Stephen and this wonderful program. 💛

This experience has helped me learn to love the piano again. I have little piano experience and it was all about the technical how to play. While this shows in simple ways and to put emotions into the music. Stephen is an excellent teacher. It was fantastic to actually feel how to put emotions into music with passion and enjoyment rather then boring technical way.

What made my experience great for this Easy Piano in Five Days course was the Ridley Academy and the wonderful personal hands on instruction provided by an extremely talented group of professionals including the exceptionaly talented Stephen Ridley.

I was fortunate enough to attend Stephen Ridley’s Piano Masterclass in 2024, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had, apart from my family. My name is James C.; I am 74 years old a retired Banker and Bank Examiner living in New Jersey. I happened to have an 88 key C-150 KORG electric piano that I bought for my daughters over 20-years ago. I never sold it because I always wanted to play the piano but was unsure as to how to start and along came Stephen in one of his commercials with his infectious and energetic personality and I was hooked. The Masterclass covers all the basics and gives you a solid foundation to build upon and you always had the course material online to fall back on for a refresher if needed. Obviously, you are not going to be turned into a modern-day Frederick Chopin or Oscar Peterson after four to six months of effort but most of us were doing this for our personal growth and to impress family and friends, although there may have been some with more ambitious goals. The course segments were highly informative and while requiring focus and effort they were also fun, thanks to Stephen and his engaging and upbeat personality. Stephen and his highly skilled and experienced staff also offer added follow-on mentorship training which provides more one on one training to take your skills to yet another level. I have not taken this training yet. I have taken part in several shorter focused training sessions including the just completed 5 Day Piano Challenge. The Challenge included training over a week with emphasis on performance and we had to send a video of a before performance and after at the end with the most improved performance winning a $5000 electric piano. If you want to learn to play a piano the Piano Masterclass is a great investment and a wonderful experience. Additionally, the 5 Day Piano Challenge is also a terrific way to start your journey with learning the piano. It is never too late for you to start making music in your home.

I know how to find the keys for the melody(ies) I like but don’t know how to play the chords that should accompany the right hand.
The 5- day challenge allowed me to use both handsets. I like the method of teaching by Stephen Ridley. I am happy & pleased.

Stephen Ridley is an outstanding teacher. His enthusiasm is infectious. And the Master class is a brilliant new approach to learning to play piano. It’s like nothing you have ever experienced before. For all aspiring pianists whether or not you have taken lessons before. He likes to say this approach will take you from zero to hero. Expensive but worth every penny.

My son (9) completed the 5 day easy piano course. He has a low tolerance of boring so the short classes and tasks were perfect. Most importantly it made playing the piano feel possible! Not perfect - but he definitely made progress! 👍💖

I loved being a part of the 5 Day program and would love to go longer! I did learn a lot though and bought a couple of the extras to keep me moving on for a bit! Maybe some day I will take your MasterClass and learn everything there is to know, but right now it is just not feasible for us. I LOVE Ridley Academy piano course. I knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about piano except it had black and white keys. I actually got the course to help my husband rehab who suffered a series of strokes. I ended up using the course even though I had not a musical bone in my body. (My family PAYS ME NOT TO SING!! 😂😂😂)
Anyway, the course is laid out in little segments that are easy to understand, pause video and go do it, come back get another Segment, go do that, etc. 10-15 minutes at a time is how we did it at our own pace. My husband is playing with 1 finger (yay) and I am playing scales with BOTH hands UP AND DOWN (at same time haha.) I can honestly say this is THE EASIEST musical instrument I have ever had the pleasure of learning. It is NOT hard, boring OR tedious. Stephen is so enthusiastic and uplifting in each segment we watch, we want to keep going just to participate with STEPHEN!! We connected with him and the energy he emits in each segment. We haven’t met Stephen in person yet, but we love him as he were a family member!! ❤️❤️❤️
I am HIGHLY RECOMMENDING parents to get this for your children while they are young and like sponges. They will be playing piano like pros in record time. We are in our late 60’s now… so that proves you aren’t too old to learn from Stephen’s course.
I am sole caregiver 24/7 for my stroke patient and it is “a little joyful moment” throughout the day to play 10 minutes (practice) and de-stress for a few minutes.

The joy we have gained by learning piano can’t be described or measured in dollars. It can only be understood by someone else that plays music. It’s kinda like riding our Harleys: if I have to EXPLAIN the feeling we get, you wouldn’t understand. You have to EXPERIENCE it to know what I’m saying.

Stephen Ridley is an incredibly talented instructor who takes a person from the beginning and pushes them through their roadblocks and boundaries whatever experience they may have. He and his hardworking team provided an experience that will make a difference for his students in just a week. Here is my feedback on the Stephen Ridley "Easy piano in five days challenge" event & offerings. I was greatly pleased and had a lot of fun and learnings during that event. This has really exceeded my expectations and I am REALLY HAPPY to have attended it because it improved significantly my piano playing and gave me a lot of tools to make my piano playing and singing better as I apply these tools in the future. Stephen is an amazing teacher who communicates very clearly and makes learning fun & easy. And Stephen easily transmits his enthusiasm and love of piano & singing to all his students. I feel lucky I met Stephen and his team to teach me piano & singing!

This company makes learning piano fun and actually achievable for a beginner! It takes the anxiety out of it by skillfully breaking the skills down into smaller, digestible pieces😀👍❤️🥳.🫶🏼❤️✔️. I have always wanted to learn piano but it was too intimidating, expensive, embarrassing, frustrating, and difficult before this program. When I came to my first online session, I didn’t know anything besides some names of notes on the piano. The first day, I was able to understand how to find chords on the piano, and I was then able to find the chords myself to a song I had written in my head and couldn’t figure out because I didn’t play any instruments! I cannot tell you how invaluable this 5 Day Class has been. I've never been able to do anything like this w/a piano ... I've got both hands playing Together & Seperate. I've got a natural Rhythm I didn't even realize I had, & it's only been 5 days. I've never been able to play with a piano while having my movements & combination of keys sound good enough to be so much more than simply be fun/funny. My movements now sound good enough for me to want to keep playing around with the keys Creatively, rather than simply learning other people's songs. 🥰 🥹 😌
I've been wanting to learn to play the piano since I was very little, & have been following Steven Ridley's free Piano classes (that he sometimes offers), for a good 4-5yrs now. This time I was lucky enough to be paying attention, & when this 5 DayClass came up (as I could finally afford it 💗, being on a very low income- LoL). With the Vast amount that I've learned in just these 5 days, I can only Imagine How Mind Blowing Steven's actual "Master Class" is. If I had the $, nothing would stop me from purchasing his Piano Master Course. 🤗
Steven is mindful & expertly communicative w/his choice of information, as well as how effectively he teaches it, his methods are so well thought out & Supurbly Executed in a very easy & digestable manor. Where it may only be for 5 days ... this has been a Dream I've had since I was 4, when my Dad said he would teach me. Then he dropped the Ball & never got around to it. My mind is blown at how much I've learned in these few days, & it let's me know how Easily this would have come for me as a child. I'm beyond Estatic to have had this experience.
