Good product. Pricing scheme and breakpoints for rewards are a bit frustrating.

cancelled my subscription without motive, then the unused money wasn't refunded and instead they gave me credits. which are worth 0 only for their terrible services

Amazing service. Imagine if this were a work mail. Three days have already passed without any actual assistance, just automated responses.

I hope anyone reading this review thinks not twice, but at least ten times before deciding to switch to Proton Mail.

STILL TODAY I AM USING PROTON MAIL EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. KEEP US SAFE WITH PROTON . IT'S BEEN MONTHS I'VE BEEN USING IT DON'T REMEMBER EXACTLY THE DATE. Hatte die Tage 1 stern geben. Weil die Migration der email von einem anderen Provider, einfach nicht ging.
Einerseits war es mein Fehler. Anders gesehen war es doch bischen zu wenig erklärt.
Naja, jetzt bin ich zufrieden.
Die Mail Migration hat geklappt und werde jetzt ProtonMail benutzen.

Proton is a "hit-and-run" company.
I paid them 500 euro and am not able to use the service. This company gives you ZERO customer service! It is just fancy advertising, and once you are dumb enough to believe thier babblinig, and pay, you will NOT get any help.
I have tried to contact numerous times and NOTHING! They just syphon your money!

FINAL UPDATE: Not sure which is the worst, Proton Drive or Proton support. Basically Proton Drive showing I am using TWICE the amount of storage I am actually using, their "support" still insisting I have hidden files, files in the trash etc etc. I am a computer technician so I obviously check the usual suspects before contacting them. Clearly a lost cause. I removed my files and deleted the app (and Proton Bridge still showing I am using almost the full amount of storage 2 hours later!) Both the app and their support are a lost cause. Don't waste both your time and your money.

Dus ze liegen de klant voor dat die vol zit, weer een manipulatief marketingtruckje. Als ik dat ruik bij een firma, dan ga ik zeker niet betalen voor diensten.

I write for a variety of web novel sites. I have a patreon and a discord as well. I was getting tired of gmail shenanigans, so I switched to proton because I'd heard how great they were. When it came time to switch everything over to my new proton mail address, they locked my account after I had switched just 3 sites. They accused me of "automation" and demanded either payment in the form of upgrading to a paid account, or lots of personal info in order to unlock my account. Looks like "automation" is totally fine as long as you pay.

So now, three of the sites essential to what I do have an unuseable e-mail address associated with them, and since most site won't let you change your e-mail address more than once every few months, I have to put my work on hold. FOR MONTHS! I'm completely screwed, and I'm not going to pay these jerks their ransom. It's so effed that I could probably sue Protonmail and win.

Since my last review Proton have provided me with an excellent level of service so I thought it only fair to change my rating.

I don't understand why there isn't a separate tab for each email address, where you can simply click on an address and see only the emails received through it.

It doesn't seem like a complicated feature to implement. Currently, all emails are grouped into a single inbox. That might work if you only have two email addresses, but when you have several addresses for different purposes, having everything mixed together becomes really inconvenient.

Sure, you can create labels, but that only solves half the problem. Emails are still mixed together, without proper automatic filtering between important messages, promotions, and irrelevant emails. It makes managing multiple email addresses unnecessarily frustrating.

Why not automatically create a dedicated inbox whenever a new email address is added? You could simply click on that address to see all the emails received through it, with its own categories and automatic filtering, just like a regular inbox.

This should be an automatic feature, without requiring users to manually create labels (+ labels do not have categories).

I would definitely give the app a much higher rating if this functionality were available.

Proton email is so secure that it does not even allow me to see my own emails... I changed my password because I forgot the previous. So every email received during the previous password is locked unless I remember the password that I forgot... Who is the moron who thought up this system?

Also so ein schlechtes Mailsystem muss man lange suchen. Hatte mir mehr erhofft. Maileingang ist total unübersichtlich, weil in Ordner abgelegte Mails trotzdem im Eingang weiterhin erscheinen. Kontakt zum Support habe ich nirgends gefunden. Werde Protonmail shreddern und ein besseres System suchen.

Bin sehr zufrieden. VPN läuft besser als bei Surfshark. Mail funktioniert genauso gut wie Gmail. Das Drive ist wegen der Verschlüsselung bei großen Datenmengen ziemlich langsam. Da ist es besser, parallel Nextcloud für aktuelle Daten zu verwenden. Die anderen Services funktionieren ebenso ausgezeichnet. Mit Lumo, der Proton-KI, bin ich als normaler Anwender bestens beraten. Da meine Daten verschlüsselt sind, ist es weit besser als die US‑Datendiebe. Passwort und Authenticator laufen ebenso wie gewohnt von der früheren Konkurrenz.

- vi var 2 der havde deres Unlimited plan. hvor vi så prøvet at lave en duo plan. det gik også fint et oprette duo plan på den ene account. men kunne ikke få lov til at acceptere inv på den anden account. prøvet at kontakte kundeservice via der bot, der kom aldrig et svar.
- Endte med at komme over på duo plan efter flere forsøg med kundeservice. Men nu kan man ikke lave flere emails, selvom man betaler for at kunne have 15

I've been using Proton mail for more than eight years and overall have had good experiences. I started with the free version, and have gradually upgraded, but still have a couple of free email accounts with them. I love the fact that there are no ads.

I've never lost my password and had to reset, but know that if I were to set two passwords (one to sign in and a second one to see my email,) I'd never be able to see my emails again if I reset it. I'm not sure if that's why some users haven't been able to see their encrypted emails after forgetting their passwords. I far prefer them to gmail and yahoo mail.

I've had no problems with Drive and just double-checked by opening a file there, but I primarily use it for Word Docs and store most things on flash drives (old-school, I know.) I'm not a fan of using the cloud for storage. I don't use most of their products so can't compare.

The main negative comment I have is that it can take a while to hear back from customer support--this is not a commercial company. I haven't tried them lately, so am not sure if it's longer than it used to be.

its the best email platform better from google

I had facial recognition, and had written my password down, I had my password on the computer so I just had to tap enter. suddenly I'm told my Password is wrong! I had deleted my previous hotmail email and that is the only way for me to gain access. I haven't upgraded or paid them any money ,just using free email. I think they just dumped me for not upgrading. don't trust them!

What's the point of having a 'safe' email account that can be deleted anytime... Gmail never does that.
