I have worked for penny appeal for more than 3 years in Bangladesh. In 3 + years I have seen that PA UK's office's directors and couple of other staff grasp donated money through its various partners in Bangladesh in innovative ways. Penny appeal is a fraud organization and they are just wasting the donated money of muslims for their own personal benefits. Don't provide donations to them.

shame on penny appeal...dont trust this organization, they cheated my family & I for sponsorship for Orphan Quran Hifz for continuing 3 yrs & now we r informed that...... We have sponsored them almost 3 yrs if I'm not wrong. From the beginning we have received their progress of their classes that it takes 3 yrs for the whole hifz & now all sudden after 3 yrs informing us that penny appeal decided to disengage with one of the partners.  And it's strange how could both partners have the same issue in different countries. We have doubts about the sponsorship long time ago & now we are quite sure we were being scams. It is a huge shame on penny appeal for destroying our trust on this organization from now on.  We were waiting for the day that penny appeal would inform us that the children who we sponsored have successfully finished Hifz but we are so disappointed for how the organizations broke our trust & we are sure every of our penny who misused it would have to face accountability on the date of judgements. Please cancel our BOTH ( my & my mum's sponsorship ) immediately.  We will continue to sponsor the orphan hifz children in other organizations In Sha Allah. if anyone need proof text me & I will forward the letter & emails between us

I have been sponsoring a little girl in the Orphan Hifz programme since July 2019 and this week I have told that they are not working with that group, therefore I have been assigned another child. The three years ends July 2022. So what has happened to the girl I have been sponsoring? Has she completed the Hifz? As I have not had any information and when I called they as a matter of fact assumed I would sponsor the new child. They are out of order.

I have today received an update about the orphan I was donating to for hafiz quran. It has been a while that I have not received an update and was wondering why this was. Today I received an update to say they have withdrawn her from the programme for whatever poor reason. I'm sorry but she would have been coming to the of her hifz and I was really looking forward to receiving confirmation of completion not that you have withdrawn for where her reasons. I have been donating for nearly 3 years and received 2 updates in the whole time that too in the first year after that nothing. I'm very upset at the fact that this is what you have sent and just replaced her with another orphan for me to sponsor....I haven't even seen the first one through and am gutted about this and you expect me to trust you with another sponsor....no way! I wish I read the reviews before sponsoring..I have deleted my debit and will be looking for a more trusted chairty to go with.

I asked Penny appeal canada for a certificatr that the dates they sell are 100% Palestinian owned, they brushed me off and said that isn't "public information". Red flag!!!

LES KIRKMAN… nice try but you are employed by penny appeal so trying to cover over the cracks doesn’t work I’m afraid.
They have probably paid you to leave this review or adeem has used your name because he is out of options.
He has already got Hannah evans and Thomas croos leaving positive review on Google and they are current and ex employers of the charity.
Please all don’t fall for there clever marketing and fancy videos.
All you need to do is Google the charity and the rest is history.

I have a well in my name built with Penny appeal funds. There are always people out there to put a downer on this very successful charity who must report to a board of trustees and the charity commission.
Don’t believe the bad press there are many many good people working hard for the charity because the believe in it and it’s founder.

One of the worst charities. I donated for a water well in my late father's name. They constructed it in someone else's name! They acknowledged their mistake and said they will rectify it. Many years later they have not done a thing keep giving me the runaround.

I purchased 20 boxes of their dates to distribute to friends and family. I made the purchase on 2nd March through my PayPal account giving myself plenty of time before the start of Ramadan to distribute the dates. I started contacting them via email on the 26th of March as no dates had appeared. Finally on 31st March 4 of my 20 ordered boxes were delivered. I called to enquire about the missing 16 boxes and was informed by Brother A that the packaging had come undone and the 16 boxes had remained in the delivery van. He assured me that they would be with me in 48 hours as he would dispatch them himself and they would arrive to me by Mon 4th April (3rd Ramadan). I called them today, spoke to Brother M and was informed that I had ordered old boxes and then placed another order for new boxes. All untrue. I ordered 20 boxes together at the same time. Long story short, they have still not arrived. I am being told they will arrive earliest by tomorrow, which is 5th April. I don't like to be given the run around. I have been told two different stories and no clear answer to why the dates were so delayed. Brother M kept on trying to give me excuses on the phone and was very rude. I absolutely will not be ordering from them again. They really need to invest some time in customer services.

Really wanted to support this organisation as I am a member of PSC UK etc: I have deep love and grief the way Israel has occupied Palestinian land. I purchased on 12 March Palestinian dates + p&p. I have tried to contact them as to when my delivery will be expected. Extremely disappointed to have had no response. My purchase was paid for through PayPal, and will eventually take it up with them. I'm an oap and just wanted to help.

Never give any updates on sponsorship of child been paying for over a year ni updates

I started to sponsor a orphan in palestine few years ago and I was getting regular updates how the child was doing and would receive a letter from the child and a report from penny appeal. That was OK for few years. Then all of a sudden I wasn't getting any information from penny appeal or the child when I contacted penny appeal they gave a pathetic excuse saying my family had opt out from receiving any mail, which was a complete lie as my family was still getting mail from penny appeal. Few months had gone past and I got a letter from penny appeal saying that the child I had sponsored had been moved a way and give me a other child to sponsor and not even in palestine. I was completely angry the way penny appeal had done this. If I didn't had mentioned to penny appeal why I wasn't getting any documents they would have been happily to carrying on taking my money. I just cancelled my direct debit with the bank. That's when penny appeal started to try to get hold of me as I knew they would do.

The charity has used £1.4 million of public donations over the years to purchase a building and currently the renovation costs are astronomical.
I have a friend that currently works for the charity, giving me a real insight to how they abuse their position of power and spend money on unnecessary things.
The founder syphons money out of the charity in way of providing donated services from his various other companies or affiliated companies at inflated prices.
His sky channel British Muslim TV has taken millions out of the charity since it was formed.
This has been going on for years according to various staff reports.
Constant allegations of fraud, bullying, sexism, favouritism and discrimination towards staff which has brought people close to suicide.
Constant lying to staff on what to tell donors via social media and on the phone based on enquiries coming in.
Reports of Water wells built with plaques changed on numerous occasions to make it look like every persons well is being built ( which isn’t the case ).
Upto 30+ donors sponsoring the same orphan.
The list is endless………
Hold this charity accountable for their actions and question them on this.

I work for a company that provides Banking and Foreign Exchange services for Businesses and the Charity sector.
I am a hard-working family man and just about manage to serve my company, family and give a little back to the community. I am therefore amazed at the relentless drive, ambition, and effort that charity founders, trustees, and workers put in.
Penny Appeal is a great Charity run by honest people, they have done some amazing work and it is unfair for people to sit at home and pick faults or try to find perfection in an organisation that is still a work in progress. I have heard about their projects and impact from business leaders and eyewitnesses who have visited the schools, orphanages, water wells etc.
To know our clients we have to do extensive research, I have literally read the book (Small Change, Big Difference), so my rating isn't an "opinion" it is a review with in-depth knowledge of the workings of this organisation.

Do not believe a word of their written material . Asked to be removed from their mailing list but still receiving requests for money . All ends up in the bin . This lot should be shut down as I am sure a huge amount of money is used up in running this organisation ( let’s have a % on what amount is actually go to doing some good ) . Live if all about diversity and this lot are far from it .

Went to their Muslim pantomime which was ok, but during the interval was one of the most aggressive sales pitches I’d ever seen. Shane on them

I called several times, each time spending almost 30 minutes to ask who I was sponsoring and each time I was given different people's names. I then asked them to cancel my direct debit and was told by the agent that they had done so.
However, money kept going out of my account and I had to contact my bank to eventually cancel in the end.
Not accusing them of what other people are but not very honest in this instance.
That's my experience.

I paid to have 3 water pumps made in Pakistan. First of all I was charged £300 per pump when most charities were doing it for £150 average. It was my first time as I had started a new job and wanted to donate sadqah jariyah.
The photos I was sent on completion looked edited. The plaque with name on the was so much more brighter and the edges were not in line with the actual pump concrete foundation like it was just photoshopped. On further investigation as I had a few relatives of friends who said they would send someone to check on the village and area I was told the pumps were erected. To which I was informed that the Pakistani govt under Imran Khan has already commissioned via a charity run in Pakistan to have all the pumps installed in over 300 homes in that same area. I was disgusted to know that even if penny appeal sent the money to Pakistan to have these pumps installed they did not follow up at all or God forbid they themselves were involved in scamming people. Rest Allah knows best.
When I contacted Penny appeal about my investigation I was told that no this is impossible and can never happen. I was misinformed and they have stringent checks done at each stage of the pump being built from the markers being drawn to foundation laid to pump being installed which takes about a month. I was like yes the pump has been installed but it’s the govt scheme and not penny appeal. Someone has simply photoshopped the plaque on top of the photo taken and passed it off as a penny appeal pump. Full blown blatant lies and still they insisted it’s impossible. However Please be aware. Even though Allah knows best.

I used to donate regulalry to this charity before I stopped when they refused to respond to my requests for details on how they were spending my money! Can't find any initiatives they are donating to. Only find campaigns to collect more money on their website and no examples of where it goes?

I am disgusted by this charity.

Keep donations for their own use and give the poor the scraps which are left
