I have been working on getting a Spanish student visa for a minor from the US and have had a very difficult time. I talked with at least five different lawyers in Spain before finding My Spain Visa, where I worked with Lucia and Aida. Although the Spanish government denied our visa application, it turns out that they have denied hundreds in 2026 because of specific requirements for the schools that can be included in Spain. Overall, I am very pleased with them and we will use them again next time.

This is the 3rd time we’ve used MSV from initial 1 year NLV to our years 4/5 renewals. Last year we had to renew our NLV and due to a misunderstanding by the Spanish Immigration Agency about our tax obligations for 2024, our application for renewal was declined. We asked MySpainVisa, Lucia and her team to appeal against this decision from the Spanish Immigration Agency on our behalf, which they did and after only a few weeks the appeal and our renewal was granted. My experience with Lucia at MySpainVisa was outstanding! As an expat with residencies in Panama and Colombia, the process for obtaining a long-term visa in Spain was much more complicated; almost daunting in its scope and range of requirements.

I understood the value of professional guidance and interviewed three immigration lawyers in Spain. Two of the interviews were conducted by staff hired to perform an initial interview and “sell” their company. No lawyer was involved at this stage. When I contacted MySpainVisa, LUCIA, an experienced immigration lawyer, and I met over Zoom for one hour and discussed the entire process. All my questions were answered. I was living in Colombia at the time and Lucia recommended I relocate to Miami and apply with the BLS Miami.

Gathering all of the required paperwork was a challenge, but Lucia was correct in her assessment that this part TAKES TIME. Lucia requested all documents to be sent to her (via electronic file) for review so that when my paperwork was completed it would be as thorough as possible AND have the best chance for approval.

Lucia arranged for all necessary documents to be translated in Spain by an official translator. She also connected me with a health insurance provider.

Securing an appointment with the BLS application center took a number of weeks due to the high-end flux of applicants. Meanwhile, during this time I was putting the finishing touches on my paperwork gathering. You need to keep in mind that all notarized documents expire after 90 days so it is important to keep the process moving forward.

After document submission, I waited, and waited, and waited. The front desk person who collected my documents told me it would take about a month. Online information indicated 6 to 8 weeks is not uncommon. My application took the entire 90 days. I do not know why, but there has been a significant influx of US applicants recently. Also, my other two residencies may have complicated the issue, although all paperwork was in order so I really don’t know. I anticipated hearing earlier and kept booking short-term accommodations and even flights but in the end I would not have done that.

So,as I write this review just hours before I fly to Spain I wholeheartedly encourage you to hire Lucia at MySpainVisa to help you with the process. It is so worth it! She connected me with all the right professionals And worked with me to create a solid application that insured a very high rate of acceptance. I have my visa in my passport to prove it!
