I'm surprised the rating is so low for MUBI, so I wanted to share my experience because I've been very happy with the site.

I signed up for the 90-day trial and watched a variety of films.

I'm very pleased with the selection because there's a lot of films from around the world, lots of newer/older films and lots of films that are hard-to-find elsewhere. At the current time there's about 550 films available to watch. I watched a lot of films that I rated highly.

The site worked correctly for me on the desktop website and on my tablet in both browser and the app.

All films had optionally available subtitles, which all seemed to be correct/official (i.e. not AI). There's also an option to make the subtitles bigger.

The films on MUBI are my type of films, so I was happy with that, but I appreciate they aren't going to be suitable for everyone. It's easy to get a sense of the type of films available by looking at the front page.

I'm seeing a lot of reviews where people were confused about the selection of films that were available. For that reason I think it would be best if the Browse page defaulted to having "Now showing" on, rather than off.

I needed to contact support, who replied promptly and fully resolved my question on the first reply.

I'll be checking out the site again in the future and will most likely sign up when there's a few more films that I want to see.

Nice selection of films, quite an artistic platform. Ypu probably won’t find the latest hi-octane Hollywood slop here but you will find thoughtful cinema.

I just wanted to post a review to say that redeeming a code from my Samsung TV was not straightforward.

On the offers section of my Samsung TV it had a code for 70% for 6 months. In itself this is a great deal but every road seemingly leads to a 7 day free trial.

The Google A.I suggested to sign up for the free trial and then to rapidly enter the code in settings. I didn’t feel like doing this as it felt like it would most likely go wrong.

I combed the site and googled multiple questions, even read old Facebook and Reddit posts.

In the end I had the idea to just google ‘MUBI redeem code’ , sure enough an actual page on the MUBI website for redeeming codes! It’s there but gosh is it well hidden.

I don’t know why they don’t have a ‘redeem code’ option on their subscription page or a deals page or something. The cinic in me says that this is part of the predatory business tactic of getting people to sign up for short free trials in the hope they will forget.

Would like to give more stars but wasted a decent amount of my time on this today just tryi;g to get my code working, should have been straightforward but it was anything but, 3 stars are warranted here.

Ero un po’ scettico leggendo le recensioni negative, ma Mubi ha accettato di annullare il mio abbonamento a seguito di un aumento che avevo dimenticato e mi hanno riaccreditato i soldi senza problemi. Sono stato iscritto sei mesi e nel complesso giudico l'esperienza estremamente positiva.

I went for the 3months for £1 trial subscription and started watching. I had an issue initially as checking my bank statement Mubi had charged me the initial £1 but also an extra £7 I contacted Customer Service querying this and they stated I had chosen Mubi Go as an add on. I had managed to do this by mistake, had no notification of this and if I hadn’t checked my statement would never have known. My email was replied to quickly and Mubi explained what I had done. I emailed back and explained I had done this by mistake and could I have a refund. Again a quick reply stating the refund of the £7 had been processed. So in my experience the customer service so far has been excellent. A shout out to Mubi team member, Lance who sorted my issue quickly and effectively.
The playback quality I have found 2 weeks into the trial to be great.As to content The film selection is initially disappointing once you realise that you have to switch to ‘Now Showing’ to watch what’s available. But I have seen some excellent and enjoyable films I probably wouldn’t have thought of looked at. I really enjoyed Martin Rejtman’s ‘The Practice’ and will certainly watch the rest of his available films on the site. I watched Jim Jarman’s ‘Patterson’ last night and Thouroughly enjoyed it.
The trial subscription is fantastic value and I look forward to watching some great films. I have to say though, I’m a little worried about when it comes time to cancel…so I may review again at the end of the trial. Also I wish Mubi would comment on some reviews. Their star score is very poor and it would be good to see them addressing some of the issues that seem to be coming up time and again in many of the 1 star reviews. To conclude… I would say enjoy. There is some fantastic content, but be careful and check you are paying what you think you are.

me agrada el catalogo, pero es horrible el reproductor web, uso un monitor 21:9 y es un dolor de cabeza intentar ver cualquier cosa de esta plataforma así

Una pérdida de tiempo. Anuncian siete días de prueba y es imposible crear una cuenta, intentándolo con dos tarjetas perfectamente válidas y da que hay error en la fecha de expiración

Ich hab ein 3 monatiges Mubi Abo für 1 Euro abgeschlossen. Ich bin Fan außergewöhnlicher Filme und dachte auf Mubi finde ich sicher einige Perlen die es bei den meisten Streaminganbietern nicht gibt. Die Auswahl ist ein schlechter Scherz. Ich habe eine watchlist gefunden und ich dachte alle diese Filme könnte ich schauen. Von wegen. Ich Frage mich was das soll..ich hab jetzt bereit 3 Film geschaut und mich zu Tode gelangweilt... Auch verstehe ich den regulären Preis von 15.99 für diese mikrige und miserable Auswahl nicht. Ich werde noch in der Testphase kündigen. Das war's für mich. Ich kaufe jetzt alles auf DVD so lange ich noch kann.
Achso und fast vergessen auf meinem Fire TV stick läuft kein Film flüssig, es ruckelt und stockt. Kann nur auf dem PC schauen, das ist erst Recht ein Kündigungsgrund.
Achso und dann ist noch fast alles in Originalsprache mit Untertiteln... nein einfach nein .

Un engaño total. No vale la pena. Casi no tiene nada, aunque te engañan para que parezca que tienen un buen catálogo. Cualquier otra plataforma es mucho mejor.

I joined MUBI today because they had a special introductory offer. After submitting my bank details so they could withdraw my first payment, I started browsing their database. OMG so many good movies....I thought....but whenever I clicked on a movie (old ones, more recent ones, well-known ones, obscure once...) I almost every time got the message "[title of movie] s not available to watch. Instead, check out Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo, which is currently showing on MUBI".
You can understand my disappointment. What is the point of having a huge database if you only offer a handful of movies?

Yes I was fooled, yes I subscribed thinking there was a huge catalogue to watch. Turns out about 90% of their titles aren't even available to watch. What is the point of this streaming site?

I absolutely love the type of films on MUBI but I have to say that the app is quite poor, and over the years of being an on and off subscriber it hasn’t improved very much at all. The search function and download functions are pretty bad, I have just tried again to download a film to watch on my flight and no matter what I do, it just won’t work. It’s a shame really as the films are great. I think it would be valuable for them to update and invest in dev and user experience.

Wirklich ein schönes Produkt abseits aller anderen Streaminganbieter - sehr Wertvoll und lohnenswert.

Streaming service with the best selection of films. They really focus on quality instead of cheap entertainment.

Ik zag zojuist via een mail van PayPal dat Mubi automatisch vandaag (4 jan'26) geld afschreef. Daarna via PayPal ingelogd en daar zag ik tot mijn schrik dat zij dit al sinds oktober'25 doen, terwijl ik mijn abonnement geannuleerd heb in juni '25??? Heb net maar de automatische betaling geannuleerd via PayPal. Gaar hoor.

Die wirklich wenigen für uns interessanten Titel rechtfertigen schon nicht den wahnwitzigen Preis von 14 EUR im Monat. Findet man dann tatsächlich den einen oder anderen interessanten Film, wird der nur in Englisch ausgestrahlt. Total nervig. Und für ein entspanntes Filmerlebnis vollkommen ungeeignet. Gott sei Dank hatten wir nur eine Probeabo über Amazon abgeschlossen und sofort wieder gekündigt. Dafür wäre uns wirklich jeder Cent zu viel.

Site is een beetje overwelmped maar groot aanbod aan goede films . Hun beleid van streaming is nergens te vinden en onduidelijk of ze net zo streng als Netflix en Dsney zijn. Klantenservice weet niks over protocolle widevine 1 of 3. Dat kan beter

Mi spiace apprendere che abbiano effettuato pratiche non trasparenti di rinnovo in passato, il punto chiave è che una qualità di film come quella presente su MUBI non esiste in nessuna piattaforma al mondo, se amate il cinema, quello vero, potete disdire tutto e avere solo MUBI.
