Scam artists

Scam artists, hoodwink you into an annual plan. Mistakenly purchased this plan apparently. Realised within hours and emailed as I won’t use this. Jess from customer service speaks like a bot, no understanding, no refund, no empathy. Mob is a cruel business and I will be handling a charge back on my terms

Great variety of recipes and flavors

Great variety of recipes and flavors. Really useful to be able to scale quantities. Some recipes show individual quantities below each stage of instruction which is really useful. Not all recipes have this feature and constantly switching back and forth between ingredients and method is tedious. Most recipes also have a comments section, so you can see how others got on with it and what changes they made if any.

This is a trap

This felt less like a subscription and more like a trap.

I signed up for MOB: The Recipe App on 22 Feb and less than a week later (27 Feb) I was charged for a full 12-month subscription. I emailed support the same day, within hours of being billed.

I hadn’t used the app at all.

Instead of any attempt to help, I got a templated reply explaining that I could have cancelled during the trial and that I can “cancel anytime to stop future renewals.”

That response was honestly insulting.

It completely sidesteps what actually happened. I had just been charged and reached out immediately. Pointing me to cancellation instructions and future renewals felt like they either didn’t read my message properly or chose not to engage with it.

I even explained that I might have missed the cutoff by just a few hours, possibly due to timezone differences. Still no flexibility. Just a hard no and more copy-pasted terms and conditions.

Charging someone for a full year after less than a week, then refusing any form of refund even when they reach out immediately, is not just strict, it feels deliberately unfair.

If this is how they handle customers, I’d strongly advise thinking twice before signing up.

Enjoying cooking again!

I had completely lost interest in cooking - living on my own after my husband died. I have always been keen on healthy cooking having been a vegetarian for more than 50 years but also wanted low carb options. I tried a few other menu services but was fed up with the lack of variety for my dietary preferences huge amount of packaging. Not had a bad recipe from Mob yet - full of flavour and plenty to choose from. Would recommend.

If I could give zero stars I would. I cancelled the free trial and they charged me for a full year. For something I will never use, hence my cancellation. I asked for explanation they threw the classic customer service response. What kind of business are you running? Charge in advance for 12 months when a customer submits a cancellation on the last day of the free trial! Appalling. Spend less in meta advertising and invest more in your services.

If you cancel your subscription on the last day of your trial period then it's possible that payment processing has already begun, which means that your cancellation won't be able to go through until after your subscription has renewed. This usually takes around 1 day to clear and update.

Game changing functions for people who love to cook

Absolutely love the app. I have loads I of cookbooks and recipes saved on instagrams / online etc but the mob app is so intelligent and there’s a few really basic but game-changer functions that make all the difference in being user friendly (eg the fact that ingredient quantities are stated at every stage of recipe, the ability to auto-adjust quantity of portions and ingredients, the organisational element of compiling your shopping list for you). Have recommended it to so many people recently and really enjoying every meal so far.

Don’t let you cancel and then charge your account for £34.99. I wish I’d read the reviews on this as I’m clearly not the only person who has been scammed by these con artists. Do not waste your time or money, not even for the free trial! Customer service is appalling and won’t refund me, despite me attempting to cancel as I should be entitled to do. When trying to contact them to explain they just refuse and try to quote me their terms and conditions, even though they broke their own terms and conditions (1.) by not emailing me my confirmation. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

I have tried to cancel my subscription…

I have tried to cancel my subscription twice yet my emails are being ignored. I didn't want to continue after the 7 day trial and have contacted the company twice by email (this is the only way you can contact them) and nobody has bothered to reply, yet they continue to try to take £34.99 from my bank account.

Wrongfully charged

Very disappointed initially as I was charged for the free trial however after contacting mob they responded quickly and I should receive a refund within 10 working days. Great customer service. Thank you

Awful company charges through the roof

Awful company charges through the roof. Somehow I linked my stripe account and paid £34. I had no idea I had even signed up for a subscription.
Seems money grabbing and the customer service is all AI.

It's now 5 days since I wrote to you…

It's now 5 days since I wrote to you and still no reply. You replied to my 1 star trust pilot review by saying how sorry you were and to write in again as you had not replied the first time. Surprise, surprise you have not replied the 2nd time either. You took my subscription after 5 days of a 7 day trial and have refused a refund. This is fraud and I will not let it drop

Our free trial is 5 days when you sign up on the website and 7 days when you sign up through the app - this is clearly communicated through the sign-up process and at checkout and is not fraud. If you signed up on the website then your payment would have been taken at the end of your 5 day trial period.

Really poor customer service.

Really poor customer service.

Signed up and paid for a period of time. Believed I had cancelled my auto renewal.

Did not think anything of it - then notice a charge in my account. Reach out to them to be told I missed the 14 day deadline and essentially it’s not their problem and I should have read the T&Cs.

Explained I believed I had cancelled at the time and had not received anything by outlining that I would be charged again, otherwise would have made sure I went in to cancel. Also explained I have not used them for months due to log in issues (which you would think they would be able to check).

Shocking tactics to not notify you of the renewal and the say because you missed 14 days it’s not their problem.

Had similar issue with another company who confirmed I wasn’t using their app and refunded me immediately, night and day with customer service - guess which company I would recommend and which one I must certainly won’t.

Avoid, and if you do want to use them - put a reminder in your diary to make sure you’ve cancelled as they sure as hell won’t warn you when they are taking your money!

As per our terms, we are only able to provide a refund of your annual payment if you have not accessed or downloaded Mob content since your renewal and you request this within 14 days of the payment being made. This is in compliance with UK consumer law and in order to be fair to all of our customers, we are not able to make exceptions on a case by case basis.

We inform all of our customers at the point of purchase that they are entering into a subscription service that renews on an annual basis after the initial term. As per current UK consumer law, this information is sufficient and we are not required to send additional information about the subscription renewing at the point of renewal.

A useful/easy to use site for simple…

Have been using MOB for more than a year now. I've quite enjoyed using it. The positives are the recipes are easy to follow, you can easily scale portion sizes/ingredient amounts up/down, the dishes are generally quick to prepare, and there's a wide choice of recipes. The negatives are sometimes the instructions aren't clear/missing information, and there is no option to print the recipes out (from what I can see).

Brilliant app

Can't fault this app at all! I'm religious with my weekly meal planning and am not one to rustle up a dish from leftovers, so this app is a god send. The food always tastes amazing even with very few ingredients. Love the app update where they list the ingredients in every step. Amazing!
