A mediocre dining experience at a premium price. Table not ready until 20 minutes after our booked time, had to send one dish back as it was cold, I ordered a medium steak and it arrived barely medium-rare. There's three pubs within walking distance (of the Portsmouth branch) where you can have a better dining experience at around half the price.

Fantastic waitress, Grace. Great table in a quieter, relaxed setting. Really good food and drink. Best visit we've had. Thank you very much.

They won’t stop emailing me with marketing emails after a visit. It’s becoming very annoying. There seems no way to unsubscribe. And no way to contact them to ask them to stop.

We’ve been coming to Miller & Carter in Lancing for many years and have always had superb meals and great experiences, so unfortunately last night’s visit was particularly disappointing.

The steaks themselves were excellent, as we’ve come to expect, but sadly the service and some of the sides let the experience down. We had to chase the staff for more drinks, and when they were eventually prepared, they were left sitting on the bar for quite some time before making their way to our table.

The chips also didn’t seem freshly prepared, which was disappointing. We also noticed that the portion sizes have noticeably reduced, while the prices have increased. The tomato, which used to be half, is now just a quarter, and the onion loaf appears to be around half the size it used to be.

We appreciate that prices and portion sizes can change, and we’re not expecting everything to remain exactly as it was. However, when you’ve been visiting somewhere for years and have consistently had such a high standard, these changes are noticeable and, combined with the poor service, made the overall experience disappointing.

It’s a real shame because we’ve always regarded Miller & Carter Lancing as somewhere we could rely on for a great meal. Unfortunately, after last night’s experience, we definitely won’t be rushing back.

10 of us went for my birthday meal on 27/09/26
We sat down at 16:45 (time booked) and our main meal arrived at 19:45 !!! My 4yr old grandson was so upset having to wait so long, he had to go home….it was ridiculous!
They said oh we’ve run out of Yorkshire puddings (essential part of a Sunday roast) the sticky toffee pudding & custard was stone cold & inedible.
The problem was they were too busy dealing with the Deliveroo orders 😡 NOT ACCEPTABLE
I felt as though we wasted £360 & won’t be going back !!!!!!!!!

First class prices, second class food, ordered lamb turned up Luke warm, waited 20 mins for replacement and even with 20% discount offered the lamb was tasteless. Have to add the young waiter provided excellent service.

Visited the Millar and Carter steakhouse in Kings Langley for a late lunch on Sunday 13th September with my cousin. Sally was our waitress and she was friendly, helpful and attentive. We had a divine share plate which was delicious, rib eye steak and lamb cooked perfectly to our taste. So much food we had to ask for a takeaway box and enjoyed the leftovers next day!

Excellent atmosphere to enjoy a few glass a wine

The staff were friendly and polite to us both but with hardly any customers in the restaurant, the time taken to receive our Starters was about 20mins and to be served Mains after starter plates were cleared was nearly half an hour.
My ‘medium’ Rump Steak was nearly rare and rather tough with the last quarter of it inedible - not the kind of food or ‘delays’ we are used to from M&C . . .

Staff were so accomodating, food was amazing and birthday treat was a lovely touch ! Made a birthday celebration more special ... 😁 excellent value for money too....

Sheffield restaurant... arrived early to be met by Amy who seated us immediately. Was extremely polite, friendly and enquired if we were celebrating anything? It was my birthday and my Sons promotion at work. She congratulated both of us which was nice. We ordered off the lunchtime menu which was a set price but upgraded steaks and sauces. As usual we were not disappointed with our meals. We keep coming back to this diner as it never disappoints. Service on point and they also gave me NHS 10% discount. Just have to show ID to prove it. Praise due to Amy too, our server who was excellent throughout. Thank you.

The staff were amazing, lovely and polite. The hot honey chicken wings we ordered could of done with some seasoning and the triple cooked chips with the steak tasted like they were just frozen chips fried,

We booked Miller & Carter Aylesbury to celebrate a 50-year long-service award for one of our employees, so this was supposed to be a special occasion.

Our table was booked for 2pm and we arrived at around 1.45pm. Unfortunately, the service was extremely poor. By 3pm, we had only received our starters and there was still no sign of our main courses.

One member of our party had to catch a 3.15pm train to Kent from the station next door, meaning they had no choice but to leave without eating their main course as it still hadnt arrived.

There appeared to be only one waitress and one chef working. To be fair to the waitress, she was clearly embarrassed by the situation and told us the average waiting time from entering the restaurant to receiving the main course was around 22 minutes. However, that certainly wasn't our experience.

When the food eventually arrived, it was okay, but by then the damage had been done.

What really disappointed us was the complete lack of involvement from the manager. At no point did they come to our table to apologise, explain the delay or even acknowledge that there was a problem. In fact, the manager didn't appear to make any eye contact with us whatsoever.

For what we expected to be an upmarket restaurant chain, the level of service and management was extremely poor. We chose Miller & Carter for an important celebration and unfortunately the experience was overshadowed by the unacceptable service.

Food: okay.
Service: unacceptable.
Management: virtually non-existent.

Certainly not the experience we expected from Miller & Carter, and unfortunately not somewhere we would currently recommend.

I just noticed they are taking bookings for Christmas dinner so felt I needed to let customers know of my experience from Christmas Day 2025 at Langdon Hills Essex.

As it was only the two of us we thought we’d treat ourselves, especially not having the hassle of cooking so I was really looking forward to the experience.
However, apart from the Christmas decorations being up I felt as though it was just another day when entering.
No cheerful Christmas music playing, nothing. Not even Santa or elves greeting the children. We did however have a cracker and name tag wahoo!

The staff were nice, busy, as to be expected but friendly none the less.
We had pre ordered our dinner a month before and I had opted
for the vegetarian option (I know it’s a steak house lol)
Our name tags had our options on for any confusion & assume a reminder.
Our starters came out & we both really enjoyed it.
When my main course came out I started eating, I wasn’t wearing my reading glasses so didn’t really take much notice as couldn’t see too well but realised that they had put bacon bites in my vegetable dish whilst tucking in. On investigation I realised what it was.
Now as it was Christmas Day and the staff were under pressure, I just scooped the vegetable bacon dish to one side and ate the rest on the plate.
When our waitress came to clear the plates I showed her (very embarrassed) and tried to play it down. She too was concerned, apologetic and scurried off to the manager.
They never came over to apologise but we did have free cocktails. I dont think they wanted to draw attention to it and I certainly didn’t want to make a scene.
My concern is that if this can easily happen with a vegetarian (personal choice) this could have easily happened for someone with a food allergy.

Needless to say I do not recommend going for your special Christmas Dinner there especially if you have any sort of allergies and want to feel any sort of Christmas magic.

I have stayed at Miller & Carter in Brighton and Hove a few times. Hotel rooms are good. Tried their restaurant for the first time 08/09/2026 , staff are very pleasant and good. Unfortunately the food is not so good, they advertise the Wagyu steaks as enjoy a luxury Wagyu grass fed for three years and grain finished for 330 days, to develop rich marbling that melts in your mouth.
This is untrue, there is no marbling in their Wagyu, when I questioned the steak with manger he informed me that it was grade 4-6 Autralian Wagyu, which is impossible as the steak I had, looked and tasted like a normal beef sirloin steak, absolutely no marbling or melting in my mouth like butter, or taste of a Wagyu steak. After showing the manger my steak, which had no marbling and looked and tasted like a normal sirloin, he still insisted it was Wagyu. Therefore, in my opinion, they treat you like idiots and expect you to pay for something you are not getting.
Miller and Carter unfortunately fall into the category of, marketing at its best to suck in the gullible and pay over the odds, for miss leading and process driven food. Whilst the surroundings and waiting on staff may be acceptable, their standards, ethics and food are not.
Shame on you Millar and Carter

Pork belly starter was cold…sent back and came back with what was remaining still cold.
Had a sharing roast platter, which is £70! The veg was brown and cold, the cauliflower cheese was a joke, the Yorkshires were stone cold and hard, the chicken was a vile texture, taste and colour… the gravy was so cold the fat had separated… when sent back it came back EXACTLY the same!
Never again… Ive had better food in a Wetherspoons

Went to miller and carter at taplow slough yesterday for my 80th birthday.Everything was amazing staff were amazing went above and beyond for us .The food was first class . Prices are so reasonable.for anyone wanting a great restaurant with amazing food.give them a try you won’t be disappointed with taplow restaurant.My family will all be going back in the future.We are all thinking of going for are Christmas meal.thank you Taplow xxx

We knew it would be expensive but visited M&C Warrington today Service by Eve was excellent and despite odd instructions everything arrived as specified . Not a cheap option but food always good.

A steak restaurant where we had to ask for steak knives! These were given to us but were so blunt that they couldn’t cut through the broccoli let alone the steak! Asked for another, which were a little better but it was still a challenge. 2 x cocktails for £16 but in small print that they have to be the same ones, please make this bigger print as it came across as sneaky. Lettuce wedge - no clawson Stilton & blue cheese sauce as “it is very popular and is sold out” this was at 6.30pm in the evening!! The buyer obviously doesn’t know what is popular and doesn’t order enough. Also, how hard is it for the chef to make this sauce?

You claim that you offer exquisite dining but there was nothing exquisite about our dining experience. Over £120 for two, used to love Miller & Carter but can buy a much nicer steak (for less money) at other local restaurants. Won’t be going back. However, all staff were friendly and welcoming, but this still doesn’t warrant returning.

Miller at Cribbs Causeway. Very Disappointed from the start. Nobody on reception, was shown eventually to our table by the women who served us. Didn't talk us through our order, just wrote down what we wanted, no advice given on steaks. After we finished our starters, the main course came but our starter plates hadn't been taken away. Got the chips wrong on my husbands order and my steak was awful, rare and inedible. I did get a refund but not sure whether they've changed management or what but overall very very Disappointed. Been going there for years with no problem. Hope this was a one off
