Everything about this process for a FTB buyer has been made immensely easier by the help I’ve received from Metro. From Adam helping with affordability, Craig’s incredible insight into mortgage rates and everything that comes with it, to Caitlin’s incredible patience dealing with my relentless anxiety driven emails when things were going pear shaped due to valuation issues.

We began our application with the mortgage advisor assigned to us, on 05/01/2026. During an initial telephone call, she took full details from both myself and my partner. We were subsequently advised that, due to a default on my partner’s account, we could not proceed with the application because of the developers policy. This information was later proven to be incorrect. After contacting the developer directly, we were informed that the default was not an issue, as it was under £300.

Following this, we spoke directly with Metro, who agreed to proceed with the application after the developer made contact with them. The advisor then sent us a link to upload our documents, which we did promptly. We continued to receive automated emails requesting further documentation, all of which we uploaded in good time. However, despite repeatedly emailing with questions and requests for clarification, we did not receive any responses. I have evidence of these unanswered emails.

Given the £499 fee paid for mortgage advice, it is extremely concerning that no meaningful advice was provided. From the documentation available on the portal, it appeared that there were multiple potential lenders who may have been suitable for our circumstances, yet none of these options were discussed with us.

We received a Decision in Principle from West Bromwich Building Society, and our advisor submitted our application. Again, any questions I raised went unanswered. Advisor was consistently unavailable by phone, and although colleagues advised she would return our calls, this did not happen. We continued to upload all requested documents without receiving any feedback or guidance.

Unfortunately, the application with West Bromwich was declined. Advisor contacted us to inform us of this but stated she could not provide a reason and advised that the process was effectively over. When I later attempted to access the portal, all of our information had been removed, and we no longer had visibility of any alternative lenders that may have been available to us.

As first-time buyers, we chose to use a broker specifically because of our lack of experience and my partner’s adverse credit history. The level of support we received fell significantly below what would reasonably be expected. We were left with no advice, no explanation for the decline, no alternative options, and £499 paid for a service that was not delivered.

I am extremely disappointed by this experience and the lack of communication throughout the process.

Lauren dealt with my application which felt more complex due to circumstance and requirements. Her manner and professionalism was excellent throughout and she took the time to answer queries, support my aims and intentions and maintained regular contact throughout. She has made a difficult situation easier for which I am grateful.

Superb service, really helpful during every step of the process. Updated the steps regularly and kept in touch with phone calls. Can't thank you enough especially Nicol and Holly.

From start to finish, I was well guided the whole process.
This was my first house purchase so I knew next to nothing. The team was always quick to answer any questions in a non condescending manner, and bent over backwards to help me secure my first home.

Their fees were miniscule, to boot.

Patient, informative and listen to what you want

I contacted Metro finance after being sent another IFA from the Housing Association I was trying to buy a Shared Ownership Flat from. I checked this other companies reviews which were poor and my initial phone conversation mirrored some of these reviews.

Metro Finance were down as an accepted IFA panel and seeing better reviews I decided to contact them. It's been a very simple and speedy experience with Lauren as my case manager and Craig as my mortgage advisor who got back to me within the same day every time. My stage 1 and stage 2 sign off were done much quicker than what I can see is the average.

I would highly recommend choosing this company. There system was also quite useful uploading documents rather than email.
