Dear M&S Manager,
I’m writing to you as a customer of M&S to persuade you to reduce the amount of single use plastic in your store. Plastic is harmful to the environment, and all our wildlife, particularly the oceans.

Firstly, did you know that because of the single use plastic produced across the UK, our local wildlife and plants have been damaged. In fact, only 6% of all recyclables have actually been recycled! I have witnessed catastrophic situations in my town such as:Hedgehogs have been suffocating in plastic bags, animals mistake rubbish for food and most of all plastic and rubbish pollutes our nature! I think this is shocking, and you as the manager of M&S, you can help by cutting out the amount of single use plastic you sell. You can play a part in stopping this disgusting issue.

The impact plastic has done on land,-is just a fraction of what it has impacted in our ocean. 12-14000 tons of plastic was eaten by the pacific fish last year! Innocent marine animals think plastic bags are food (jellyfish) then choke and die. Have you ever thought about this? Every day, 8million pieces of plastic are dumped in the sea, polluting our beautiful world. Plastic doesn’t decompose like paper and food, so even a plastic bag that’s been in our ocean for 50 years can still carry food. Please help ston this eco problem. Help clean the ocean.

Undoubtedly, you have already put some effort in reducing single use plastic, but you can still improve. I believe that more should be done to look after our planet.
I have some suggestions, such as replacing plastic bottles with paper cartons. You can reduce your plastic products to more than 67%. The public should be able to bring in their own pots and jars instead of fruit plastic pots and drinks.

It is shocking to hear M&S is only recycling 43% of rubbish, though Sainsburys is recycling 67% of their rubbish. In reduction commitment, M&S has 22% and
other stores like Aldi have 71% . You have the least progress out of most stores in recycling. Is this how you want to be looked at?

If a successful supermarket like yours was to decide to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic, many other stores will do the same. This will be great for the environment, and then you can say that you helped COP26.

I ordered an Letterbox Afternoon Tea for my daughter. I was told the date of delivery but it never arrived. I was then told they would send a replacement which would be delivered the next day - never arrived and then had an email to say it would be delivered the following Tuesday - never arrived. I rang Customer Service and they gave me a refund of £15.00 but nothing for the postage which was £4.99. An absolute disgrace.

Shame on you M&S!! My gift card did not reveal the digit card numbers I required to show when making an online purchase, because when “scratched “ the numbers were not visible..you refuse to cancel and reissue me with a new card.

Customer service as useful as a chocolate tea pot. I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing our hamper.
We had a nominated delivery date of 2nd November (today). But instead of it being out for delivery, (despite being sent an email notification on the 1st Nov stating it had been dispatched.) DPD are still only expecting the parcel according to tracking. rather than it being out for delivery as it should have been!
Customer service are based in South Africa they could do nothing, they couldn't get in touch with the warehouse or the carrier, then fobbed me off with the dispatch date is from 2nd, and all deliveries will be the 3rd (tomorrow) In the end I gave up and have emailed M&S CEO Steve Rowe. It will be very interesting to see if I get a response!
I just hope it arrives tomorrow and in pristine condition, or I'll be forced to write another negative review!

My wife bought a winter jacket on the 8th September and went to wear it today 30th of October because it was cold but she then felt the jacket was far too big for her, the store refused any refund or even a credit note and customer services refused to help as well. We expected a credit note but got nothing and my wife now has a jacket she can’t use. A disgraceful way to treat a OAP. It’s the last jacket we’ll buy from M and S. Atrocious customer service.

Still waiting for sofa to be delivered 10 weeks after delivery date .

Shocking gift delivery service! Twice I have paid for a specific day delivery only for both gifts never to arrive with no up date from M&S. Every time you call to speak to an advisor I am placed on hold while they call DHL and every time I am cut off after listening to your music for 10mins! Again and again you promise delivery and it never happens. Why you use DHL is beyond me! I should have learned my lesson and never ordered again. I was offered evouchers which only means i have to trust you to actually deliver the next item. These phone calls are not free and frankly you are useless. Some advisors actually want to help but in all honesty most of them sound like they really couldn't care a less

You opt to pay for next day delivery only to be offered a slot in 2 days time.
Querying this with customer service I was told next day didn’t mean next day!!!

As a relatively new store employee I have to wholeheartedly agree with the bad reviews on here! Marks and spencer do not look after their staff anymore....it’s a miserable place to work with staff expected to work shifts akin to factory work shifts....and as for the cafes, they’re shambolic! M&S are the most unethical company i have ever worked for.....please do not believe anything they might imply about how they’re recycling/ethical/green etc ....they are the complete opposite and should be reported for how they deal with waste. The store i work in....absolutely ZERO is recycled!! And food waste that goes into the bin is truly horrifying. It pains me to work there seeing how uncaring they are not only to the planet, but also their staff and their customers.....believe me, you’re just a pound sign to M&S!!! And the in store bakery?? i hope everyone who thinks they’re getting fresh realises that stuff is prepared, frozen crap, full of chemicals and God only knows what else.....it’s simply recooked in the ‘in store bakery’.....it’s about as fresh as a corpse’s sock!!!!

Very rude, passive aggressive manager on Saturday morning (11th Sept). Went to the Handforth Dean store to return some white school polo shirts that after one day of wear each had stains that would not come out, even in a normal and then a hot wash. It was clearly the fault of the garment as it had happened to all 3 T-shirt’s. Anyway, after a long wait in queue I explained my story to a v pleasant and understanding young lady at the till who called her manager, I again explained my story to him and he got very angry quickly in tone and body language, he reluctantly said they might refund me for one pack so two of the three tops (one of the tops had got stained from paint so I was willing to concede there, although paint was water based so would’ve expected it to come out but hey ho), he then went off to speak to someone else more senior to verify the 6 quid refund. Once that was verified (10 mins later)he then got annoyed that I didn’t have the paper tags still but why would I, plus I had the receipt?! As he was putting it through, he was literally glaring at me and honestly I wished I hadn’t bothered, he practically threw the gift receipt at me. It was all very unpleasant for me as a customer. So the refund came to 6 quid and I spent about 200 quid on uniform from Marks for my two children?!! The whole thing,including the wait in queue took at least 30 mins. What dreadful customer service to a loyal customer.

I ordered some clothing and chose option next day delivery and paid the extra fee.
When it didn’t come I waited for customer service on phone for 30 minutes. They said I had nominated a week hence on the order, but common sense would have told them if I had paid next day delivery why would I want to wait a week for it.
They would not let me cancel order, you can only do so within 30 minutes of order,
No wonder m and s stores are closing down, it used to be a much loved and well run store.

Went in to the Merry Hill M&S to try and return an item that I had bought from an outlet store. There were 3 till on , one member of staff was serving at 1 till and 2 others were free .I stood waiting to be called forward , however the members of staff took 3 or 4 minutes to finish their conversation first. A mature lady then beckoned me forward.
I explained the problem and in a very annoyed tone ( I suspect because I had interrupted her conversation), She said ' you need an outlet store not here, we don't take them ' then carried on her conversation. No sorry, no smile just plain rudeness. Not impressed ! Would it have been that hard to say ' I'm really sorry , you need an outlet store your nearest is West Bromwich '. Please train your staff in manners !

Just took a friend to mark spencer to some food shopping and to enjoy a nice cup of coffee,
unfortunately found the cafe ,cold , drab and uninviting wait over 15 minutes for 1 cup of tea and coffee,
staff seem very disorganised leaving one staff member to do all the work , as the queue got bigger some customers left , saying it’s alway like this total disorganised,

Ordered a number of furniture items almost 3 months ago. Delivery due tomorrow. Received an email 3 working days ago telling me my furniture would shortly be ready and reminding me of delivery date.on the strength of this as my husband is over 70 I arranged for relatives to come on the weekend and remove our old furniture. Yesterday evening at 18:22 I had an email saying that not only was our furniture not ready but it would be delivered in 6 weeks time. Apparently they had tried to phone us but the number they gave was not known to either me or my husband.

So today I phoned their customer service and spoke to Linda who I am sure is a very nice person. The only problem is she knows nothing about the furniture dept because she is support staff and has just been pulled in to man the phones. Not her fault. So I asked to speak to someone from the furniture customer services to be told that they weren’t taking calls “ cos they’re too busy”. So you can order almost £3000 of furniture but can’t speak to someone when there is a problem!

Went M&S yesterday. It was to be an in and out quick shop of a few essentials. It turned out to be a nightmare. There was only one till open to serve customers. With customers queuing in three isles waiting to be served by this one till. You can imagine the how unhappy the customers felt. It took at least 30 minutes this is no exaggeration to hold of staff member to open another till. It is an absolute disgrace. I felt I could have simply walked out of the shop with the goods and no one would have batted an eye lid. There was no manager on the floor. No shelf filling staff. Surely this is a health and safety issue. When I questioned it I received a clever remark that the staff need a break. I mean really!! All staff had to take a break at the same time. Basically they want you to shop in their stores but no one wants to take your money. UNBELIEVABLE. !!!! M&S get your bloody act together. This is incompetence at the highest level. Or simply shut your stores.

Once again let down by next day delivery service as this will be about six times marks has done this to me !! Same old excuse look into this blar blar nothing ever happens only ever get my delivery fee back no goodwill gesture wasting another day for delivery . Hermes are terrible why do you use them customer service gone down the drain .
Plenty of other online providers who will take over soon marks

Order birthday gift on line for delivery today, this included live flowers! On tracking the order through DHL, it appears delivery will now be made 16 August! Which of course is too late.

Spoke to M and S, who contacted courier and confirmed the late delivery!

Completely let down, had to cancel, and amazed M and S did not offer a solution.

Hopefully They Will Be Out Of Business Very Soon

Crooks nolonger what you thought the M&S brand stood for - the sooner they go out of business the better - signed up to their banking service and it is a complete fraud - no service whatsoever. Constant promised that they will call back due to lack of staff over many days and nobody does.

Wevwent to M&S in Hedge End friday afternoon, a massive store and felt I had to traipse miles to find a member of staff as needed help and when I did the staff member was offhand I ended up storming out. Theyve definitely gone down in my estimation

I feel Marks food has gone down in quality, I have shopped with them for years but now very disappointed, I buy the chicken slices but my last 3 deliveries the meat was unpleasant lots of blood spots, strange texture and on the last delivery inedible, smelt off very slimy threw it away, also quices bland taste little filling and over use of tomato puree, so disappointed as I am will return to Waitrose for similar but certainly better quality products, I did speak to customer services at Ocado about the chicken slices as there were quite a few bad reviews like mine, I was told Marks would be informed but of course you never get feedback, did get a refund but wanted quality food.
