Lixis-UK is a trading name for an undisclosed legal entity in an undisclosed jurisdiction. Its website is almost identical to Lixis-US, which has received universal one star reviews on Trustpilot, from customers in the UK among other locations. My wife and I encountered this company when we were considering the purchase of a titanium pan. While researching the subject, my wife came across the very slick Lixis-UK website, and spent £139 on a pan, supposedly reduced from over £200. The pan arrived a few days later in brown cardboard packing, with no return address (although the tracking info showed it was dispatched from a UK warehouse). There was no Lixis branding on the pan either, just an instruction leaflet that did not provide the name or address of the manufacturer. The pan itself showed manufacturing defects completely inconsistent with the price tag. There were noticeable indentations in the lid handle, and the rim of the pot also showed slight deformities. UK law provides pretty clear consumer protection in 'distance selling', as internet transactions are described. In the case of manufacturing defects, we were entitled to return the goods, postage paid, for a full refund. However, Lixis demanded that we cover the cost of return shipping to China. After some back and forth - the company always responded promptly - we were offered a 30% discount to keep the pan, or to return it for a refund and pay the shipping. As my wife had used a debit card to make payment, we initiated a chargeback dispute through our bank, and Lixis has now refunded us in full. But what a waste of time! Avoid this company. The Lixis websites for the US and UK present the brand as world class, but there are warning signs. The legal entity you are being asked to buy from isn't disclosed, the website name implies it is locally registered although its actual domicile is undisclosed, and the thousands of favourable reviews cited (Trustpilot style) aren't referenced to a verifiable source. But the real stinger is the omission of any mention of the fact that customers who want to return purchases must foot the shipping costs to China. Don't go down this rabbit hole!
