I had to cancel my interview due to my partner having emergency appointment at the hospital following a ans e vist the night before and just had a message saying wishing him well. No new interview date and really poor advert for the company !! Even though I sent a few emails
Do not recommend
So i was a service user at Kings drive Liverpool in Woolton I basically left child care and needed a placement because I turned 18 I was there for about almost a year and my experience was dreadful the staff I I would say were very unprofessional and my time at kings drive was a nightmare the things I will say that the staff were so demanding like I could’ve have a bath in the morning before I went to college and he was shouting at me because I was running a bath and he wasn’t bothered about my hygiene need he was bothered about me disturbing the other resident when they were asleep there was also a other time when I brought my dirty laundry down and they said I couldn’t put a wash tonight and it was about 6 o’clock in the evening so they could at least let me after when the other wash was done I had to go to my mums house to put a wash on which was not fair and they was a other time that I got a email when I was at my mums and they said I owned £400 pounds in under paid house bills and that was off the team leader and with my need like Autism I did not take that very well a few weeks later got another email saying that I did not own nothing so all the stress and anxiety was for nothing like you can’t say that to a person with special needs and also if they on a low income I would also say that I was staying at my mums a lot due to these incidents I would not recommend life ways as I have read so many other 1 star reviews of other people going through/or went through the same experience

Three Years of Hell Solved in Three Hours just make a phone call.
I live next to Lifeways care home, and for the past three years, their cable has been dangerously dangling down into my garden. I’ve complained verbally to their staff many times, but no action was ever taken. It wasn’t until I made a formal complaint—because the cable was lying on my roof and my house started leaking—that anything changed. Even then, the roofer refused to carry out repairs while the cable remained on the roof. My inside and outside wall have damaged because of the leak.
The area manager, sent me an email suggesting I contact their landlord, Whiteley Homes Glasgow. I did, but received no reply.
Today, I decided to phone Outreach myself and explained the situation. An engineer arrived at my house within two hours and confirmed the cable is unsafe needed to be removed for health and safety reasons.
I complained to Lifeways for three years with no result. I dealt with it myself—and it only took three hours.

Worst company I've ever worked for!
I worked for Lifeways as a Team Leader for about three and a half months.... Three and a half months too long! The house I worked in was good and the residents were fab, as well as the staff who worked there, the hours were quite hard. Unfortunately, the organisation itself and management were awful. The lack of support was terrible, nobody working for the company seemed very happy as they were continuously having to chase up underpaid wages or incorrect annual leave. My immediate manager was horrible, deliberately not answering the phone to members of staff who she just deemed to be 'phoning up to have a whinge.' I didn't get paid the first month I worked there and as a Team Leader with no specific experience in support work, was just used as a patsy by management to excuse their own massive incompetence. My manager's use of inappropriate language was also great cause for concern, with ridiculous, sweeping statements about 'autistics' and many other things, too many to write on here. Communication across the organisation was awful and for a care company, they are not caring at all towards their own staff and definitely do not have the people they support's best interests in mind. Supposedly, Lifeways is a not for profit organisation, absolute rubbish in my opinion. I wish I'd read the Trustpilot reviews before taking the job. I urge anyone who wants to keep their own sanity and mental health intact, to never, ever work for this company. I have a lovely new job now, where the management actually care and are taking considerable time to show me the ropes and induct me properly. It was certainly an eye opener and I'll never work in a support role again following my unpleasant experience. I look forward to Lifeways' soulless generic response!

Don't work for this company under any circumstances
This company is a shambles. Staff are expected to work for days on end exhausting themselves to burn out with little to no support from management. The service i worked at had a manaagement turnover of 11 managers in 2 years. Majority of the time the support workers were left to manage the service themselves. On call rarely got answered in an emergency and to top it off when lifeways lost their contracts and staff were supposed to be TUPEd to another company Lifeways also fumbled that to the point where staff have had to look for other work and been left with no communication despite following procedures and being told that their job was safe. Don't go near this company. I worked there dilligently for 5 years working sometimes 96hr weeks including the sleep shifts and all I got in return was terrible mental health and stress levels that almost hopsitalised me.

Disabled people deserve better
I am sure there are decent staff across Lifeways services who are kind and genuinely care, it's not that there aren't any staff who mean well in my home but my experience still highlights serious issues with training, communication, and how complex-needs residents are understood. I think disabled people deserve better than the bare minimum which is only just what some houses under this company offer, if that.
Also, from what I've seen, I feel Lifeways are more concerned with cutting costs than the quality of life and safety of those of us who are under their care.
I feel because I am seen as vulnerable/disabled, I'm not taken seriously and it's very frustrating and disheartening.
Even before my house transitioned from Brandon Trust to Lifeways - I've been starting to feel more and more trapped in an environment where I don't feel my own individual needs are being properly met and where I am isolating myself and my relationships with staff and tenants are sadly becoming strained to the point where it's significantly affecting my well-being.
It seems that once you agree to move into these places, there's no easy way out. I've been here for for 5+ years now and I feel I need a change desperately. My social worker has tried to find me places that fell through, I am not sure if many staff really have the initiative to get the ball rolling or always log things when I do show signs of independence such as cooking my own meals, emptying bins, doing my own grocery shops etc and I often feel too overwhelmed to thrive in the way I know I would be thriving if I were moved to a different set up, attempts to register for council housing seem to not be treated urgently and also be a long process. I feel hopeless and trapped.
I really do believe I would be doing so much better in my own unit/flat with outreach support that comes in for a few hours per week rather than a shared house with 24/7 support workers. I'm sorry but I don't think the care costs I am now required to pay match the level of care I want, am utilising or receiving. It's been really hard for me to manage here in London, especially when my parents are a 6-8 hour coach journey away. I am in dire need of a different set-up that works better for me so I can be closer to them and they can also support me and make sure I'm okay while they're still around.
When we made that transition over from Brandon Trust to Lifeways, I feel they sucked what little soul was left right out of what is meant to feel like my home.
The house was stripped of Wi-Fi, rendering the Ring doorbell we had set up for our safety useless - and the house phone that staff used to keep in touch with us was replaced with a very outdated, cheap brick phone that I had to show my keyworker how to use.
I believe Wi-Fi and smartphones should be standard in this day and age. There may be tenants who struggle to it set it up and keep up with payments alone, who may wish to use the internet to apply for jobs, do courses, have something to occupy themselves etc. I went without that for weeks until I took it upon myself to get broadband installed.
I feel they've taken away things that were paramount for our safety and I haven't seen that money invested into much else to improve things here besides replacing the carpets.
One of my housemates had a toxic ex boyfriend who would show up outside the house and harass him, call the police, firemen and paramedics to our address for false emergencies, write threats towards him on our wall near the front door, kick over the bins and caused a lot of anxiety and stress for everyone. It was to a point where I called up my parents, shaken up and fearing for my safety when he was ringing off the door.
The Ring doorbell caught footage of this ex physically attacking my housemate which was able to be used as evidence to report him and allowed us to see who was coming or going to prevent something like that happening again.
Also, there are people literally on the breadline with smartphones and yet a company that pulls in millions are too miserly to provide them when the safety of vulnerable individuals falls into the equation.
There needs to be better funding, better training, better payment towards staff who truly care about making adjustments and understanding the complex needs of tenants rather than just supervising them and ticking off boxes with a one-size-fits-all approach to care.
These factors literally make or break the mental health and quality of life of those of us who are left relying on companies like Lifeways.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

During my tenure of over 10 years with…
During my tenure of over 10 years with the people department, I had a fulfilling experience for the majority of the time. However, the last two years have been marked by significant challenges that have left me feeling exhausted, burnt out and suffering from PTSD.
There has been a shift in culture over the past two years where prioritizing excessive overtime without compensation, unreasonable travel demands (including traveling on Sundays or through evenings), and an unsustainable workload. The expectations included working long hours, traveling extensively, and attending back-to-back meetings without consideration for work-life balance or individual well-being.
The constant pressure and threats have created a toxic environment, where employees are fearful of speaking out and instead resort to saying "yes" out of fear or for personal career advancement. A healthy environment where people can safely express their concerns has been replaced by a culture of fear and compliance. Favouritism is prevalent, with clear distinctions between those who are favoured and those who are not.
As someone who has raised concerns and blown the whistle several times about mismanagement and poor conduct by senior staff, I was met with silence or superficial responses. Despite my efforts to bring attention to these issues, my concerns were not taken seriously. Instead, I faced personal threats for reporting these issues and was subjected to gaslighting. While others witness this, they are too afraid to speak out.
This experience has been incredibly challenging, the worst I've encountered in my life. I hope that my account can serve as a warning to others about the company culture. Unfortunately, the HR department, which should be the conscience of the business, has become the root of the problem and a source of harm.

Honest opinion from management level
I was a support worker and became part of the management team
My staff teams were excellent and did their best to support the individuals to the best of their ability.
Some higher management lie to cover themselves and do not offer support, although others are supportive.
I left as the amount of responsibility for both management and support worker level is high and the pay does not match the responsibility.

Stopped working for them due to not being paid
I work for a trade company that was employed to do work on one of their sites.
They have asked if our workers would install an app on their phone and log in when they arrive on site.
Asked us to use their terribly designed site to upload our quotes and invoices, then insert all the information again into the website.
We told them multiple times we are not doing that. They said okay.
Things went okay for a bit then they started asking us to upload our invoices to their terrible site again, which I did and they had to make multiple emails and phone called before they would pay us.
So we stopped working for them which we had to tell them 4 times.
Then the person from the site phoned us and he had been told a bunch of lies about us.
Just stay away from them, they are a waste of time and even if you do work for them they are really difficult to get them pay.
The worst care company experience over 49 years.
I have been working in care for 41 years now. I worked for Care UK, Living Ambitions or Lifeways. Call them what you like as they keep changing their company name.
After working with the company for fifteen years, I must have been mad. One pay rise over fifteen years. Yes, you heard that right. One pay rise on year 13 of 15 years of service, and it was ten pence an hour.
It gets worse. I worked in three Glasgow locations so I knew many staff. The company were blatantly underpaying me plus several other people within the company. On one occasion I was £200 short one month so I went to their base in Templeton Business Centre to get the money I was owed. I got that £200 eventually. The next month they took the £200 back and noted it as a £200 (Loan) repayment. After 15 years of stress I'd has enough.
They go through managers quicker than throwing out time at your local pub. Most managers aren't fit for the job as they have no idea what good communication skills actually are.
This company is an utter disgrace. You don't need me to tell you that. Just read the online reviews. Read them before ever contemplating working for this company.
1 star
1 star. My fiance Jason is being disrespected by most of them apart from 3 he also has to go out and buy his tea as they refuse to cook for my fiance and it's wasting all his money jason has had servire mental health problums. Jason recommend other people to avoid this company otherwise they will suffer the same thing as what he did. Their was one time they got him into trouble for no resen all because he took a dig at serton residents the resident started it off because lifeways told him to the manager was bullying Jason because he dident wanted to come out his flat and nearly got into a fight with the manager. Some staff were rude and disrespectful Jason is looking fowered to moving out he is moving to Liverpool and living with his partner and her staff he only gets on with 3 staff. Worst company ever and trying to get them into trouble they always rely on cheshire east just to cause trouble and they are very harable at last event the staff and management walked off to office and dident respect his dj exsplots. This company deserves to get shut down and they are bullies and make visitors sighn in and they lie 24/7. They keep knocking on his door and the staff kept claiming their professional. It's descrase how my fiance being treated this is why he's going out alot. Do not join this company and they broke and lost my fiance equipment. They tried to use him for money and use him to do everything and don't care about him they don't negotiating with him very bossy and rude when visitors visit and call. So don't go in this company. Stay away from them.and they called police to send Jason home from Liverpool and back home and won't let anyone stay over staff were telling resdent to do it

I applied for a care job in February...after completing 2 interviews successful I was offered a contract...while waiting for my DBS to come back I completed over 50hrs online training. When my DBS came back it had details of me being dismissed due to " gross misconduct" as I left work early on 1 occasion due to I'll health. I had a risk assessment done by lifeways and was told it wouldn't affect me working for them. 2 days later I received and email saying I didn't comply with their company's compliance. The job offer was being retracted. I explained thar I was in touch with the DBS to get the information off due to it not being relevant to anything. Lifeways didn't want to know. RequestEd pay fir online training I'd done and still not heard back

I currently work for Lifeways for around 17 months now. I have to say this isn't my first care/support worker job. But it's the only one where I have actually looked forward to go in to work.
My manager and team leaders listened when I have spoken up about concerns I have had around care given and abuses i thought were happening. My concerns were acted on immediately and investigations were carried out. If they had not been acted on I would have gone higher.
I was kept informed about the procedure and the outcome.
I cannot praise my manager enough, I have recently undergone surgery, he has been very supportive and understanding.
My heart goes out to those families who's family members have been neglected and abused. Lifeways is a huge organization and there is good and bad with every organization like this.

Disgusting establishment! A real hell hole! I feel sorry for the poor disabled residents. The chief executive is a disgrace she’s on £1.6M a year whilst paying her staff minimum wage.
