My kids had fun in Kailua-Kona on Let's Roam
My kids had fun using the Let's Roam scavenger hunt on our first day on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was fun to check out locations in Old Town Kailua-Kona using the Let's Roam scavenger hunt as a guide, and each member of our team/family had their own role, which also ensured everyone was engaged the way they preferred. Two things make this app merely ok. The first is, the challenges that were not about Hawaii or Hawaiian culture, exploration, art or navigation were a disappointment -- and the were a lot of them. (We will do a scavenger hunt about other countries or cities when we visit there, but we wanted to get to know the place we were actually visiting during this hunt.) It is also disappointing that you can't download the photos you took from the scavenger hunt after it's over. Overall, this is a fine way to pass the time in a new-to-you city and have some low-key fun doing it. The kids will have a blast, especially if they get to solve it themselves.

Total waste of money in evening
Whilst this was a good way to somewhat explore a new city, we were left very disappointed. We decided to do this as a late evening activity, we checked the app and recommendations several times, all of which is specifically stated that the challenges could be completed any time, as you do not need to go into the locations to complete them. So upon starting it, there were challenges for the inside of every single location ( which you’d have to pay for if it was daytime anyway!!!! ) so as much as we got to see the city, we couldn’t complete at least 1/3 of each of the location challenges!!! Alongside this, upon finishing the hunt, when trying to press ‘finish hunt’ it says congratulations on finishing, here’s a discount, and doesn’t allow you to submit it unless you sign up to a membership!!!! Bloody pointless and a total waste of money, just look up near by landmarks and find an online quiz 🫠 side note I think it would be great for kiddos during daytime just disappointed with the lack of correct information on their site!

Complete Frustration— Avoid Completely
I recently purchased one of their Scavenger Hunts. It was our intention to use it on Friday, June 12, for their Hunt in Cornwall, Ontario. We had travelled there from Ottawa to celebrate our Grandson’s 9th birthday.
After trying and failing to start the Hunt, we gave up. Our grandson was very disappointed, and I was most frustrated. Last year we used and enjoyed the Hunt in Smithsfalls, so we are familiar with the product.
I kept getting the error message, that my Voucher had been redeemed.
The live chat told me that my Voucher was still valid and that I should try to re-enter it. After 5 failed attempts, I asked to speak to a person. I was then given a link back to Live Chat. This was not helpful.
Our birthday present of the Hunt, was a complete bust.
I wrote directly to Charlie, one of the founders, and got no response. Customer Service, was quick to respond, but simply repeated the Live Chat advise, that I should simply try yet again.
I not only have a disappointed grandson, but I also have a Voucher which I am unable to use, and Let’s Roam refuses to provide a refund.

Do not waste your money - it's not worth event he £8.50 I paid. Terrible user experience in none of the attractions were open, the special place of interest was a tiny local library, then just pubs. We paused the game for a drink and a bite to eat and it timed us out so we never got to complete the course. No refund offered and shocking service from an AI robot. Don't bother!!!!

Paid $80 for an AI-generated hunt no one bothered to fact-check.
Update: We tried a Questo scavenger hunt despite dramatic protestation from the kids after the frustration we all felt during the Let’s Roam hunt. The Questo hunt was great! Engaging story, directions and clues were accurate, challenges involved the place we were actually in, and there was lots of information provided. Try QUESTO…not Let’s Roam.
We paid $80 for history hunts that read like AI-generated content no one bothered to verify. The Dubrovnik hunt describes a fountain with four gargoyles — the actual fountain is a satyr with a sheep. A later stop requires a €40/person entrance fee with no warning in the app. The challenges have nothing to do with the place you are currently in. Their is little to no actual
information about the place you are supposed to be discovering. Basic stuff.
When I reported it, I got a form apology, a link to their no-refund policy, and a request to help them improve their content. I paid them $80. I’m not their unpaid QA team.
Great concept. Poor execution. No accountability. Spend your travel budget elsewhere.
Update: The reply posted below is the same lip service I received during 4 different attempts to communicate errors and an unsatisfactory product to their customer service. It doesn’t change the fact that they provided a a product that did not do what it was supposed to ( the entrance fee being a minor omission, not the base problem) without an offer for tangible compensation in the form of a refund. Even SHEIN is more ethical.

Einfach nur Schrott
Einfach nur Schrott. App ist sehr unübersichtlich. Die Antworten werden in englisch verlangt, obwohl man die deutsche Sprache eingestellt hat. Die Zeit läuft einfach ab und man fliegt dann einfach raus. In der Zeit ist die Tour mit älteren Menschen einfach nicht zu schaffen. Einfach zu schade für das Geld.

Dreadful customer service
I purchased a scavenger hunt for the town of Southwold in Suffolk (£40.00). When we got there, we found out that the town has serious WIFI/G4/G5 connectivity issues which have been reported to the county council by residents and business alike for over 2 years. On the day we visited there was no signal on anything so could not use the hunt App. It was hot bank holiday with hundreds of day trippers and nobody could even pay for parking (also app based). I find it very unprofessional of Let’s Roam not to know about this issue in Southwold, especially as they make money from selling an App based scavenger hunt for the town. They did not even publish a warning about Southwold connectivity. How appropriate their terms and conditions have ‘circumstances outside their control’ yet still they allow the Southwold map to be purchased. After contacting Let's Roam - No refund possible!
In my view, a blatant con and would not recommend Let's Roam to anyone.
