Sticky process to get hold of details for the business interested in. Could be a bit more streamlined. Otherwise OK experience.

I've been working with Luke on this particular deal. He has been very supportive. Intermediaries are usually difficult to deal with especially when they are not acting in your interest. The advisors at KBS are totally different.

We approached KBS for a sale of our business a couple of years ago. This was the first and last time I have sold a business so I have nothing by way of comparison. But it was obviously a pivotal moment in our lives and perhaps the singular most important transaction and deal we had ever done. They were professional, trustworthy and seemed very concerned about maintaining their reputation for looking after their clients. Everybody we dealt with seemed competent, reasonable and professional. We had a mixture of IP, trademarks, formulations and an ongoing business and all parts were folded well into the deal. I would recommend them.

We have acquired 4 companies through KBS and all experiences have been very positive. More importantly, the outcome has become very positive for both us (the buyer) and the vendor.

KBS and in particular Luke gave us a very good service, Luke was always on hand to answer any questions and provide reassurance throughout the process. His knowledge and experience in the area proved we made the correct decision instructing KBS to act on our behalf

The initial marketing material produced by KBS was excellent and it certainly did a great job of conveying to any potential buyer what we were all about. Later, when meetings were organised with prospective buyers, KBS were always on hand to provide guidance.

Only thing I would suggest is that there are technical details such as “lockbox” which could be better explained and perhaps an easy to understand booklet on such things would be worthwhile producing.

Ultimately, our deal was completed with Will acting on our behalf and even when I gave him a hard time, he acted with a high degree of professionalism and even managed to calm me down on a good few occasions. Just on that, anybody going into this process thinking that it’s going to be a stressless experience, think again! You will, however, find that having Will, in particular, is going to help enormously!

From the moment we contacted KBS for our business sale, they were very proactive and worked hard to find us a suitable buyer. We were quite specific in needing a buyer who would want to retain all the staff and ensure continuity for all the team.
KBS found us around 10 potentials and we narrowed them down to the last 3 who we met before finalising our decision. Throughout the process KBS arrange all the liaisons promptly and pushed the buyers to achieve the desired outcome for us

KBS rely on bulk post and email spam - As I have ignored their bulk postal mail they have now resorted to emailing my personal (not company) email address.

You can draw your own conclusions about the professionalism and ethics of a company that appears reliant on spam to find their 'customers’; Which changes its company name every few years (see Companies House for evidence); and which fails to 'clean' it's bulk email lists to remove personal email addresses.

I suspect that they are probably deliberately sending SPAM to personal email addresses and they may even claim 'Legitimate Interest' as a 'permitted reason' for doing so. If you get an email from them and they claim the excuse of ‘Legitimate Interest’ remember that the 'Legitimate interest' is theirs and not yours!

No doubt my describing my recent experience will be met with the standard reply from KBS that I should contact them to remove my email address - my response would be to point out that cleaning lists is their responsibility and not the recipients and If they had done the job properly I wouldn't have felt it necessary to leave this review. Furthermore if the 'Graduate Sales Executive' (assuming they are a real person and not a 'bot') who spammed me this morning had taken two seconds to think about it they would have realised that they were likely sending to a personal email address who had no interest in them or their services - pretty much the very definition of SPAM. Their email to me even states that they "had tried to contact me recently regarding our services..." Here’s a clue - if I was interested I would have contacted you - sending spam to my personal email address is not going make me to change my mind!

It will be a cold day in Hell before I would trust anyone with the Ethics KBS have demonstrated via the email I received this morning to sell my business!

In fairness, Brokers like KBS do have a place in selling certain types and sizes of businesses however there are numerous competitors to KBS which may be a far better fit so do your due diligence. If you are looking to sell your business you should NEVER use anyone who contacts you out of the blue without FULLY investigating the market and their competitors. I would strongly suggest that before engaging with companies like KBS you seek advice and/or contacts from local accountants and other professionals before making a choice - local professionals tend to know who the good brokers are and who should be avoided.

KBS - put your house in order and re-think your marketing approach - word of mouth beats SPAM hands down - if you were any good at what you do you wouldn’t need to harass business owners who have no interest in you our your services. An annual letter is OK - unsolicited email to personal email addresses is most definitely not.

It was a pleasure dealing with KBS and in particular John Hunt in relation to the acquisition of a UK company (North West) where we acted for the Buyer and John/KBS acted for the sellers. This was not a straightforward deal as it was a cross border deal and also involved foreign entities which presented legal/tax and corporate finance challenges. Collaboration between advisers was key to the deal completing within timescales. Owner Managers should always ensure advisers are collaborative and do not stand in the way of a deal. KBS were proactive and expediated the process when required and John was always available to try and work through potential legal and CF issues. Hopefully we can work with the team at KBS again soon!

Recently completed an acquisition with KBS after having to jump through many hoops to get the IM. Once the process had started it was a great result for all.

Steve was very professional and diligent in his work and provided the support throughout the transaction to all parties.
