Karikuy was a great choice for Salkantay trail. All went well and we had an amazing time. As they hire another company to actually guide this tour, there were some not included expenses.

Karikuy is good but minor complaints
Overall, Karikuy provided everything they said they would. I really liked our guide, Briner.
Don't expect proactive communication from the company, you must confirm all details yourself before heading to Peru. My only complaint was the bus transfer back to Cusco, worst ride of my life and the driver had no regard for the safety of 11 passengers.
For the value, I would recommend this company and would use them again.

Unfortunately the bus company that transfers customers back to Cusco is used by all tour companies and as we do not own the services we can only apologize for the drivers behavior. Thanks again for visiting Peru and we wish you the best!

Our guide was speaking poor English
Our guide was speaking poor English. She could deliver only short texts, which she learned and nothing out and about. She struggled with answering questions and just repeated what she already told. Evenings were complete humiliation when the majority of the group was laughing and joking in Spanish. Don't pick them if you have zero Spanish knowledge. It will spoil all your wonderful experience to be on the trail.

We apologize if you feel the English was not adequate on your tour. All companies follow the regulations of the Ministry of Culture that all guides need to be able to speak advanced English in order to become guides. They are regularly tested and working constantly with the language. Our customers come from many different countries and we do not enforce that only a certain language be spoken on our tours. Even though we try to have groups of the same age and language on rare occasions there may be more Spanish speakers in the group. We apologize if this was an inconvenience for you.

I have not traveled with them yet, but their customer service alone has been kind, fast and wonderful. They were helpful while I choose the best options for my trip and helped me make decisions. They were patient when I changed my dates as well. Great experience thus far!

Never picked up my son and his friend
Never picked up my son and his friend. Paid hundreds of dollars. The boys went to the spot to be picked up and nobody ever came. Never got the money back.

As it was already discussed your sons did not show up for their pick up at the designated location. Their accommodations confirmed that they departed well after the time that was scheduled for pick up. Since they did not contact their guides or our emergency number the order was taken as a no show which are non refundable. We hope you understand.
Worse experience in my life
Worse experience in my life, booked the Inca trail in July 2017 for May 2018, in November 2017 I was told the company forgot to book my permit and I couldn’t go , a little to late my trip and flight were already booked, never trust this company.
To your answer below, thanks for lying I have confirmation emails from your company stating my inca trail permits were booked, I only had my flights booked from the uk to Lima however was unable to change them and you never advised me not to book anything else even encouraged me to book other activities.

Thank you for your review, your order for the Inca Trail for May 2018 was made back in late August of 2017. You were notified that that Inca Trail had sold out of permits and that many reservations were dropped by the Ministry of Culture, we worked with you for many days trying to get another date for the Inca Trail but permits were not available for the dates you requested so you cancelled your trip and we gave you a 100% refund. We had advised you not to book any flights until your permits were confirmed. In any case you had over 6 months notice that you were not going to be able to hike the Inca Trail due to permits being sold out in advance.
UPDATED: The only confirmation we sent you was that your payment and reservation had been received, this is not an Inca Trail permit confirmation.
**A notice to all customers the first month to sell out for the Inca Trail is always May, consider booking at least a year in advance for the Inca Trail for May dates.**

the jungle trek was amazing and jimmy the guide was brilliant to, machu picchu definitely a highlight of my travels. Karikuy tours highly recommended.
