I’m extremely disappointed with John Shepherd Estate Agents in Derby. I had a scheduled viewing at 12:45 pm yesterday, but the agent simply didn’t show up. An hour later, they called, not to apologize, but to ask if I still wanted to view the property. To add insult to injury, they also promised to send me a WhatsApp video of the apartment, which never materialized. In total, I wasted four hours of my day, including leaving work early and using half a day of my annual leave. Not once did I receive an apology or any acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused. If this is how appointments are handled, it raises serious questions about the level of customer service being provided. I would genuinely like to know whether the owner is aware of how their employees are representing the business. People’s time is valuable, and a basic level of professionalism, communication, and courtesy should be the minimum. Mistakes happen, absolutely. But failing to turn up, calling an hour late, not delivering promised follow-ups, and giving no apology is simply unacceptable. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses these issues. A thoroughly disappointing experience that could easily have been avoide

We’ve had a really positive experience with John Shepherd specially our property manager, Gita Patel. She has always been incredibly responsive, approachable and helpful whenever we’ve needed anything.

Recently, we had an issue with the shower tap, and she arranged for a replacement very quickly, which we really appreciated. She is proactive in resolving any concerns and makes sure things are dealt with efficiently rather than leaving us waiting.

Communication has also been excellent throughout our tenancy. She coordinates really well between us and the property owner, keeps us updated at every stage, and makes sure we always know what is happening. She is professional, reliable and genuinely attentive to the needs of the tenants.

It makes such a difference having a property manager who is easy to reach, communicates clearly and takes issues seriously. We feel very well looked after and are extremely grateful for all her help and support. Definitely deserving of 5 stars!

I wanted to leave a review for my property manager, Gita Patel. I have been living at this property from almost a year now and I can’t thank Gita enough for her quick responses and solutions to any sort of issues that may rise, she is always reachable and quick to deal with problems.

Mandi was superb right from the very first phone call. Communication was prompt and productive. Mandi was passionate about getting my matters resolved and made the process very smooth. Credit to the company!

Our tenancy was transferred from John shepherd midway through our lease. When our tenancy ended, we were told we were in a significant amount of rent arrears.

Upon inspection, John shepherd had offered us compensation (due to them leaving us without heating for over a month of winter), and rather than actually compensating this they’d made it look as if we were in rent arrears and had not paid enough rent.

It was lucky I had kept all the evidence of this compensation, meaning we were able to get our money back. Had I not have preempted there being an issue when our tenancy ended, and hadn’t kept the evidence, I doubt we would’ve ever seen our money again.

Highly unprofessional company, would not recommend to landlords or tenants.
