New Practice of Charging a Fee to Get a Bill
I used to buy clothing almost monthly from J.Jill usually on line. Their clothes fit me in my size, petite extra small, so I never needed to return anything. I used my J.Jill credit card and paid my bill in full each month as soon as I got it to avoid getting a late fee. I have noticed lately that the quality of the fabrics, sizing and styles have not been to my liking. I have had to return items to my local store. My issue is I noticed I am now charged a fee for getting a paper bill in the mail! I have never heard of this! I called customer service to ask how to avoid this fee. I was told to sign up to their bill payment app online. The person on the phone talked me through doing this because it was difficult for me. I believe many of J.Jill's customers are older women like me who may not be comfortable on the computer but pay their bills in full and on time. I was told if I paid my bill in person at the store I would be charged for that and that I had to open this special "Bread" account for paying. I did open the account but I am uncomfortable using it and giving my personal information to this company. The company then sends the customer an email to let them know their payment is due. I asked if there is a text message sent to alert the person about the email and I was told no. I get so many emails that surely I would miss seeing their message and be late with my payment, thus incurring a late fee. I just want to warn others about this new practice of paying to receive a bill. I feel that their clothes aren't that great and the prices are high. The cost of them sending out a bill to customers is just the cost of doing business. I know I will no longer shop at J.Jill since I am now reluctant to use my J.Jill credit card since it will just enable them to charge me fees. I immediately used Bill Pay to pay my bill in full and now I am afraid to use my J.Jill credit card. I am sorry J.Jill has adopted this practice since they have lost a customer. I will shop elsewhere.
Great Store
I've been shopping at J Jill online and in store for YEARS! They have always been great to deal with and back their product. I have let them know, from time to time, when I'm not happy with the styles (when they get too boxy for any seasons) and I've noticed that they do listen to their customers. I also noticed that some reviews state that they cannot post reviews. This is a setting on your computer. Not J Jill's.
Rediculously high interest on Credit Card
Their credit card charges 35.99 percent interest. Have you ever heard of such a thing? I haven't. Me, personally, I will not do business with a company charging such a high rate. I always thought 29 percent was over the top, but this takes the cake. SMH. Only in America where we have such stand out representatives can this happen. Right?
Great quality and selection
I don’t understand all the negative reviews for J. Jill. I have been buying their clothes for years, both online and in stores. Everything has been high quality. I prefer natural fabrics and their Pure Jill line is Pima cotton — doesn’t shrink or fade. Their Wearever line is wrinkle free poly and great for travel. Sizing is true so I rarely need to return anything. Shipping is fairly quick and returns are trouble free.
I ordered products from J Jill
I ordered products from J Jill. They were lost. I did not receive them. I asked for a refund. They only gave part of my money back. I called again. They gave me a few more cents. I have spent more than an hour just trying to get my money back and they don't seem to care. Don't shop there at least on line.
J Jill stale designs and slow shipping
J Jill used to be a reliable source for wardrobe basics. In the last couple of years, their styles have gone stale. Additionally, because so much of what they sell is not available in the stores, you have to order online. That would be acceptable were their shipping speed not at a glacial pace. It takes on average 3 weeks for me to get an order. This is not a one time issue; it is consistently slow.
Terrible, vindictive customer policies
I made a $200 online purchase from JJill last December. It took FOREVER for them to ship it, even though I paid for expedited shipping so the items would arrive in time for Christmas. After I received a shipment notification, tracking showed "in transit" for more than two weeks. All of a sudden, on December 31 I got an email that said "your order has arrived," but there was nothing at my house. FedEx had an up-close photo of the box, but not anything identifiable about the house it was delivered to. There was no way to tell if the box was actually delivered to my house and stolen, or wrongly delivered to someone else's house.
JJill said I had to wait 7-10 days to file a claim in case the box might be re-delivered. When that didn't happen, they said I had to file a police report and make a claim with the shipper. FedEx told me I had to file a claim with JJill because they showed proof of delivery (though they acknowledged they couldn't tell which address from the stupid photo). I decided to dispute the charge with my credit card company, who promptly reimbursed me for the charge.
So get this: I placed a $600 online order with JJill this month and after two weeks it still showed as "in process" on their website. I called and asked why it was taking so long. They told me that until they receive payment from my credit card company for that lost-in-transit order from back in December, they won't ship anything to me. What?!? They weren't going to contact me about the delay, they never told me about the shipping hold, nothing. They were just going to make me wait...again! Well, if they're going to be so short-sighted and hold a grudge over a $200 order instead of accepting my recent $600 order, that's their problem. I'll take my business elsewhere. There are far too many customer-oriented competitors in this market to act like this, JJill.
New Returns Process Issues - Ultimately Solved
I do not have a J JIll store close to me, so I buy online. I usually am happy with style & quality, but sizing can vary, a lot. So, I have to return via mail, and get charged each time, which really adds up. Recently they changed their return authorization process. There’s some pros and cons. A problem I’ve experienced several times, even with newly received orders, there’s a glitch that will code an item as not returnable FOR NO REASON. Then, you have to go through another process (plan B) to get a return authorization. This is really cumbersome and I know I’m not the only customer who’s experienced this. They have manually issued the return authorization shipping labels for me, which I truly appreciate. Internally, they need to get it together with the returns process and with long wait times for customer service. Ultimately, they have solved my issues.

A top was cancelled because their website was having tech issues and would let customer purchase as showing in stock but as soon as paying on credit card.. going into see why it wasn't shipped yet says cancelled out of stock. The agent said go ahead and get another top of another color we will waive the shipping since it was JJILL's fault technically on their website. So, I found another top and called repeating what the agent told me on waiving the shipping due to prior order being cancelled and she told me to get lost, no, and not waiving shipping. Nice huh? That's what their customer service agents are about... bad!
Same ole...
The customer service just doesn't help on helping a person to see what is in their size. If you try to order your size.. they say "Oh that is out of stock", but, they won't go on further to help a person like saying but it is in size etc., etc., and help out that way.. no.. it's like sorry it is out. That is it. No helping further at all. Imagine going in the store and your size is out but they do not assist further same thing as online they refuse to help go a step further to find another style or color or etc. Just gets you off of their call and move on to the next fool that orders.
Billing nightmare
I will never shop at JJill again! I returned a dress in March and got an email stating they had received the return and would email the balance I owed. I never got an email but got a late charge for over $49. After talking to a rep the late fee was reduced to $21.00 which I paid immediately. Today I got a bill for $69.00 with all kinds of late fees. After losing my mind with a woman from India she reduced the bill to $32.00 I have now paid over $50 for a dress I returned months ago. Buyer beware! They also charge $2.99 to send you a paper bill!! Unbelievable. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER ITEM FROM JJILL.

Please do not purchase from JJill. Customer service is horrible. I paid the balance on my bill while waiting for my order. Well I never received my order. The package lost then damaged at the postal service and they returned it to JJill. Well it has been a month and they still have yet to refund me which was promised in 5-7 business days. Plus they charged me shipping and handling. 4 phone calls and wait times of 45 minutes. They owe me $115 so I guess my next step is to call the BBB. I have been a faithful customer for many years. No longer will purchase from JJill. Horrible service, overpriced and quality has diminished.
So after this post and another phone call and wait for 45 minutes I finally participated in a chat. Well, I was getting the same run around so I finally asked for a manager. That worked to a degree. They were able to finally credit my account for the item but charged me for the shipping. Really…I never received the item as noted above it was damaged at the post office and eventually returned to JJill from them. So how is it that I had to pay for the shipping and handling. As I said, I am done with JJill!
Quality issues with J Jill jeans
Bought a pair of J Jill jeans about a year ago and have probably washed it only about 10 times. The button came off the other day (they are a loose fit) and when I called to let them know about it they said they couldn't help me with it. It cannot be sown back on so now I have to take it to someone who alters clothes to see if they can fix it. Very disappointed with their quality and customer service. No matter what, the button should not be coming off in a year.
J Jill Going Down Hill
I do a lot of business with J Jill and have n noticed the sudden drop in customer service. Apparently they have very few humans to answer calls. The store I was in had to hold for 25 minuted to get help. I just held for 30 minutes and hung up-this was at 8:55 a.m. They were supposedly open and there is no way they were busy. They are trying to cut costs and force customers to use chat. The management is trying to maintain high profit margins and increasing cost of goods while reducing quality. No longer a good deal to shop here.
Stretched beyond
I ordered authentic fit slim ankle. They fit great for 10 minutes then stretched to the point of having a saggy butt and the need to constantly pull them up. Quality is definitely not what it once was. I won’t be shopping again at my formerly favorite store.
Unbelievably slow shipping!
I bought 2 pair of jeans online and…
I bought 2 pair of jeans online and went to the Crabtree location in Raleigh NC to return them for a different size. I went to the cashier when I entered the store and gave her the jeans still in the packaging along with the receipt. I paid $109 plus tax for each pair. The store didn’t have size I needed so they ordered what I needed and ask me where my receipt for my return was. They had thrown it in the trash with the packaging. They got it and gave me credit. In addition I purchased two tops. 30 min later I got I call from the cashier saying that the tag for one of the return jeans didn’t go with the jeans I returned. I paid for what was on the tag $109 but in reality the jeans were a different item worth $30 dollars less. She then said the jeans had been worn and I told her I did not wear them I tried them on and that was it. Many insulting accusations from this woman and she wanted me to return to the store and pay $30. I have never had any problem with this store and I normally buy $300 -$600 a visit a few times a year. I called customer service. J Jill has lost a customer.
Not what it used to be
I used to love this company. Recently ordered a chenille sweater - Petite XL. It was sized more like XXL. They no longer let customers view the reviews, which gave valuable info on fit. You can only see the number of stars. The knit was much thinner than similar sweaters I ordered in the past. (I have 3 chenille sweaters I ordered years ago from JJill.) They are charging me $8.00 for the return. Sadly, I think this is no longer a company I can do business with.
Great construction, good fit, cheap thin fabric.
I love J Jill. You can count on their sizing. The garment construction is way above average. My complaint is the fabric continues to get thinner and thinner. Some of the tops should come with a warning they are transparent. The clothes are not cheap and quality fabric would be a wonderful plus. PLEASE.
Customer Unfriendly Practices
After 40+ years as a j.jill customer I am finally done with them and their usurious and abhorent credit card company, Comenity.
I received a bill. They charged me a fee for sending the bill! This was so off-putting that I sent payment for my purchases (minus the $2.95 for sending me the bill) with a message, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I pay you to send a bill to me". I added that they should close my account. Next bill: I was charged a late fee of $29.00. I called Comenity. The first girl hung up on within 10 seconds...yes, I was nice. The second girl kept me on the phone for 16 minutes and I got no satisfaction. My guess...an agent saw my note on the bill, saw that I wanted my account closed and just tossed the check. I wonder how much it costs j.jill to obtain a new customer. I know it cost them $31.95 to lose one.
