I would highly recommend JD gym, staff are friendly and supportive. I would just say some equipment is tired and needs replacing and more wipes to clean down machines would be great!

I am coming to this gym for some considerable time. I’ve found the staff welcoming and in general a good place to train. The equipment is normally well maintained and a decent variation. I like myself his headphones, but it would be nice to hear more updated music to achieve a fuller workout. The gym is kept clean and tidy. I do tend to avoid 3-4pm as it get get a bit too busy from the younger members from collage ect

Love the gym dynamic and the staff are really friendly
Steven is always really helpful and interacts with his customers in the gym. I have been at this gym since it was Xercise4Less (for 7 years) and love the gym dynamic here. He has always been smiling and welcoming. Ryan and Ben are also really helpful. I feel that employing another member of staff would be beneficial as it looks like they all live here. It would also be good to have vegan protein bars or an alternative in the vending machine to make it more inclusive.

Classes inconsistent at Livingston
JD Livingston used to have a fantastic range of classes throughout the week with great instructors, especially spin, where you could get 2x 1hour classes in a week.
Unfortunately the classes now are very inconsistent, some weeks they will have 2 half hour spin classes in a row, often not. For me, a half hour spin is hardly worth getting changed and showered for, you're just warmed up and its finished.
Often at least one class will be cancelled at short or even no notice so you always have to check just before you go. It's very hard to get into a fitness routine when the classes are so inconsistent!

Good equipment and space
Good equipment and space. Everything you need for a good workout.But filthy and always cold. Gave up on showering there as the temperature is too low. Been going for a year 4 times a week- not a cleaner in sight ever.

Not well maintained at all
This was a big, well-equipped gym. But now it's just not maintained. One of the cross-trainers upstairs has had an 'out of order' sign on it for more than six months. And when it was icy recently, there was no grit on the footpaths, resulting in many people falling and hurting themselves.
These are just the basics that should be easy to do. This gym desperately needs someone staying on top of it, as it's starting to go downhill.

The Livingston gym used to have great…
The Livingston gym used to have great equipment and was hygienic with paper towels and hand sanitiser. Since COVID restrictions were lifted, no more towels, no more sanitiser, multiple equipment out of order and remaining so for months. Whilst standards and service has deteriorated, cost of membership has risen twice during the same period. Time to look for a new gym I think.

Hello Rachel thanks for the review. The cleaning stations in our gyms
were in place and introduced when Government restrictions required us to do so. Since all restrictions were lifted some time ago, we have been gradually returning to our normal operations, with the cleaning stations being one of the last remaining measures. We have however, provided extra bottles of sanitiser around the gym and we do encourage our members to bring in their own towel to clean off the equipment after use. Alongside this, we also have cleaners in the gym who frequently clean the equipment and work to ensure a high standard is maintained. If you do notice any equipment needs a wipe down, please let a member of staff know.
We have method statements for the team to follow for the cleaning of our equipment. Ensuring it is cleaned thoroughly without damaging it and keeping everything in action for the Livingston members to use.

Can’t beat the value for money in the gym here at Livingston.

Why is the heating on in the Gym?
The PT’s are nowhere to be seen at any time. Gym floor looks like it’s never been cleaned and there’s only 1 cleaning station in the whole ground floor for cleaning the benches, but it’s located in a different area.
Who puts the heating on in a gym? At least 5-6 times we went my partner was ill because the gyms heating was on and it became unbearable to train due to the heat. Gyms should be stone cold as well you know there’s a thing called a warm up. If the staff/ clients are cold either go and clean up the gym or if you’re a client you’re not working hard enough. My partner asked a member of staff to turn the heating off and she laughed at him.
We’ve gone elsewhere.
