Absolutely disgusted. Our trip was cancelled without ANY prior notice due to a "medical reason affecting a crew member."
Irish Ferries had both my email and mobile number, yet chose to inform us only when we arrived at the port. This is a severe failure in customer service and shows a blatant disregard for passengers' plans and time. As a result, we were directed to the next ferry, which was a staggering 2.5 hours later. This delay meant we missed the concert we had meticulously planned to attend in London. The financial loss from the non-refundable concert tickets, not to mention the wasted travel costs, is significant.
Furthermore, the "medical reason affecting a crew member" excuse is highly questionable. Firstly, it's impossible to verify the truth of this claim. Secondly, and more importantly, a professional ferry operator should have contingency plans and substitute crew members readily available to prevent such widespread disruption. This suggests either a lack of preparedness or, more cynically, a possible attempt to merge two ferries due to low passenger numbers, using a convenient excuse to justify the inconvenience.
There were no proper apologies for the massive inconvenience, and certainly no proactive communication. Passengers deserve to be informed as soon as a cancellation is known, especially when it involves such a vague and potentially misleading reason.
This experience has been incredibly frustrating and costly. I expected a professional service, and instead, I got a shambolic display of disorganisation, poor crew management, and utterly unacceptable customer care. We will be seriously reconsidering ever booking with Irish Ferries again.

Food is great, shop is cheap (We found whisky for £35 while Tesco had them for £50), Yes it can be loud however moving around may help, The last few crossings we've been on it usually sails 10-20 mins late (due to massive check-in queues I presume), Ships may be old however they're still stable and we would definitely sail with them again

Booked the fast ferry, which they charge more for. It was cancelled, and they refused to refund the price difference. They will cancel the fast ferry for the slightest reason, as they know they have the full capacity of the other ferries and make more money.

Misleading practices at the port they will not take any responsibility for. We were booked to a Ferry 2h after the one we booked and told we could board the right ferry.

When arriving by the ferry, we were denied access and forced to wait two hours!

Dover Calais route, coffee machines not working. There are only 2 in the restaurant!

Make motorcyclists wait till last to board. So cars are trying to swerve past in the loading lanes. Dangerous and unnecessary when the bike spaces are at the side anyway!

Staff were lovely on board.

We were off to Ireland to collect our new puppy from the breeder.
The trip out was uneventful, the sea was a millpond, staff were very helpful with my Mom who uses a travelator.
The trip back, our ferry was cancelled due to weather and the James Joyce was put on instead.
So I brought my puppy up to reception and asked for a cabin.
Not a problem 👍
The cabin was comfortable, we even had a shower available (I wish I'd known cuz I'd have brought my toiletries)
Staff were all very polite, very helpful.
So what could have been a difficult journey became a far less stressful one.
The only bug was that you couldn't hear the announcements properly, that's the only thing that was wrong.

Having bookings for next week.
My two kids out of three are quite sick and probably unable to travel. Just find out that 0 refund will be applied in case they can't cross.
Very upsetting , will never book again.

Advertising kids go free on irish sea, when I booked they didn't take the money off for my kids but had to book it anyway, I've contacted them for the last 7days and not one reply, I've screen shots off the website Advertising kids go free and there items and conditions but still won't rely to my emails...probably last time I use them for my ferry crossings going forward

First time using Irish ferries and probably last, I travel to France about 12 times a year and normally use other providers, this is the first time I used Irish and probably the last. The ferry was late sailing and now no WiFi, I was hoping to do business on the way to France but now that's not possible. Disappointing

I travel to France quite often as I have family there, but usually use P&O or Le Shuttle, but I thought I would try Irish Ferries for a change.
We travelled on 11th May as it was my Mum’s 80th birthday and she was staying at my brother’s house just north of Paris, we booked a 12.30 crossing and with the time difference and a 3 hour drive in France we were scheduled to be there around 6pm French time, so plenty of time for my mom’s party.
We arrived at the docks in plenty of time, however, we were informed by the ferry staff at 12.15 that there was ‘an incident’ at Calais and the scheduled ferry was not available, but they were sending another ferry to collect us, but it was about an hour and a half away. This was clearly untrue as no ferry arrived and we had to wait until the next scheduled ferry arrived for the 2.55pm crossing, so we were put on that one. This meant that we did not arrive at our destination in France until around 8.45pm, so we missed a large part of the birthday celebrations.
The communication was disgraceful, the scheduled ferry shuttling between Dover and Calais, would needed to have left Calais at around 10.30 (UK time) to get to Dover with enough time to disembark and then reload ready for the crossing, so they must have known that there was a problem then, well before the 12.15 when they eventually informed us.
Also, the electronic departure board constantly stated that our scheduled ferry was ‘on time’ even after the scheduled time had passed, so again extremely poor communication.
The ferry itself was OK, no better or worse than P&O, but on arriving at Calais, the call to return to the car deck was announced, but to avoid the rush we held back, the ferry had not even docked and a member of staff came up to us and asked what we were doing, and the she pointed to the way sarcastically to the car deck, but I could not understand the rush as we sat in our cars for around 10-15 minutes not moving.
A celebratory day completely ruined.
First time sailing with Irish Ferries and most certainly it will be the last!!!

Got the Ferry from Dublin to Cherbourg. Really rude staff. The staff would make Jack Sparrow's crew look like a merry bunch.

Unfortunately, our experience with Irish Ferries was very disappointing. The ferry was dirty and had a bad smell inside. On top of that, we experienced major delays and even had a previously canceled ticket, which completely disrupted our plans. Now we are facing yet another long delay. I wouldn’t recommend this service, especially for those on a tight schedule. ZERO STARS

Never in my life have i paid €20 for a pizza that's literally thinner than the width of the cardboard it comes in. Food is absolutely scandalous, a 12 year old in home economics with no experience could do better. €40 paid for literally 2 sheets of cardboard and 2 drinks that struggle to wash it down. The worst thing is that they know people will pay it and they getaway with it to.

It gets you there on time (in my case, at least). Minimal facilities onboard (as compared to the other big names). Would not use them again given the choice. No quiet zone. Limited eating options.

Bad customer service all around. First and last time I book with them. Rude staff at check in Dover port. Thank you but no thank you. Why book a ferry for a certain time and then turn up and to find out that the ferry has already left? If I wanted an earlier ferry then I'd book an earlier one, simple. Staff very unhelpful too. Zero customer service and staff very untrained.

The Irish ferries consultant was so quick and easy to resolve my issue regarding a booking that I had made a mistake on! He rectified the issue straight away with no penalty! I was so impressed with the quickness of the phone call and the email correspondence.

I have had a great experience with Customer Services, I have had to make a few changes and they are so efficient. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and they have responded really quickly each time I have needed to make a change - communication is just brilliant.

Wir haben eine Überfahrt von Cherbourg nach Dublin und zurück gebucht. Das Schiff ist sehr modern und die Überfahrt verlief problemlos. Die Kabinen bieten einen für die Übernachtung ausreichenden Komfort.

Es gibt verschiedene Restaurants und Bars. Sehr zu empfehlen ist die Bar mit Sicht nach vorne in der am Abend auch Live Musik gespielt wird.

Die Preise für Essen und Trinken sind hoch. Leider entspricht der Preis nicht der zu erwartenden Qualität. Die muss besser werden.

Grundsätzlich kann ich Irish Ferries aber jedem Empfehlen. Wir werden auch zukünftig wieder mit Irish Ferries unsere Überfahrt buchen.

I made a booking over the phone earlier today for 3 cars with 12 passengers, as I was having a lot of difficulty completing this on line. I rang through to Customer Service and spoke to a lady by the name of Janet, she was extremely helpful and patient completing the booking on my behalf, she split payments for the individual cars without issue. Thank you Janet for taking the time to process my query, you were a pleasure to deal with over the phone. Its really great to receive top quality Customer Service.
