Halifax Arvostelua 

Like all others on here would give none if it were possible. Storm Darragh lifted some slates and ridge tiles from my roof, claim rejected as caused by 'wear and tear' and lack of maintenance, despite loft being bone dry apart from where tiles lifted off. Why insure Victorian houses if they regard them as worn out even though they are better built than modern homes?
Con merchants, they have collected buildings premiums for years and won't acknowledge storm damage, shame on them.

Would give 0. Any excuse not to pay out. Storm damages and they say it was wear and tear. All from a picture of the damage. Never sent anyone out. No issues before the storm and have a home report confirming no absolutely no issues. To get told that “things can go on behind the scenes and need to maintain the home”! Changing insurers will never use again!

I raised a claim and the Halifax investigation team didn’t do their job properly. I’ve had Two independant builders who specialise in damp, and who both confirmed the cause and effect of my damp to my conservatory wall. It was from my next door neighbours leaking overflow (evidence of this provided) into my home. The Halifax investigation team didn’t call on that independant expertise evidence and thought they knew better. That evidence they provided proved to me with no doubt the root cause. Both builders had seen this before and confirmed the cause and diagnosed the effect. They hadn’t spoken or knew each other.
The reason the Halifax investigator has given me for the damp was incorrect.

Ignorance, apathy, and incompetence from the investigation team. Or, maybe too much work to do their job effectively, who knows, but it’s a terrible mistake and service.

You have got this case wrong.

24 + years of loyalty with this insurance company and the first time I needed help they let me down. I’ve obviously now changed my insurance company.

What an absolute shower of a company. Rubbish. Never again. Gutted I had to give one star.

Rubbish company. Would not go with them again. Had roof tiles blown off and surveyor came around and said no they won't cover it as it was classed as lack of maintenance with the tile mortar!!!! Apparently in the small print it states this. Couldn't see it.

Halifax Insurance - AVOID
They will do anything to not pay out and the customer service must get a bonus for saying no as she was so happy giving me the bad news!! I stupidly didnt realise my Hob came under buildings insurance and not contents so my fault but she was pleased to say it wouldn’t have mattered they still wouldn’t have paid out because I broke it by cleaning it!!! Apparently cleaning makes insurance nul and void.

I will not recommend them and will not be renewing with them. I wonder whether there is any point to insurance at all. The terms and conditions are book size.

DO NOT USE FOR HOME INSURANCE. I WOULD GIVE MINUS 100 IF I COULD . THEY WILL FIND ANYWAY TO GET OUT OF A CLAIM . I HAD Q LEAKING ROOF AND HAVE BEEN INTO THE POLICY FOR YEARS AND WAS DECLINED BECAUSE IT HADN'T RAINED 25MM IN 24 HOUR PERIOD ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING SCAMMERS

I accidentally broke my TV. The claims person was completely amazing and dealt with my claim straightaway and the whole online process was also very easy. Thank you so much Rebekah, for making a very stressful time less stressful

First time have made a claim off my insurance. Reading all of the negative reviews I was very sceptical about the whole process. MBNA made the process really easy and straightforward and I just want to say thank you and to Owen Pugslay who helped me load documents for my claim. Thanks Mbna a fantastic service

I have been with Halifax Buildings and Contents insurance for several years but not had to make a claim until a water leak which damaged a wooden floor in October 2024. Despite a prompt claim and providing information multiple times, I still do not have a date when the remedial work will start, what work will be done and how long it will take. The personal claims handler assigned to the claim seems to take no responsibility for resolving the issues. Halifax say they have only one contractor in my region for managing out the work, so one wonders how many other claimants are in the same boat. A formal complaint about poor service has been upheld by Halifax but that has made no difference to actually getting the work done.

Made a small claim due to dropping a tin of paint covering our new carpet, walls, shoes, coats ect. Paid out within 2 weeks. Excellent customer service, and quick settlement.

I am satisfied with the service Halifax offer but not the renewal process. Our renewal quote came last week and was £433, up from £366 last year. I went to their "myrenewal" website and with 1 click it went down to £377. This is a warning, particularly to people with relatives who might not be computer literate, to go though this process as they say "As discount is not always available we are unable to automatically apply it to your policy but your intial price is always in line with what we would charge to a new customer so you are not being charged more or treated unfairly." As an ex computer programmer I treat this statement with the amount of salt it deserves.

Do not use Halifax for home emergency insurance. I experienced a Water leak at home so called for assistance to be told that they can’t help me unless I can stop the leak. Really defeats the purpose of paying for the service in the first place. Avoid at all costs. Will not be using again in the future.

Earlier this year, 2 squirrels dug into my guttering causing water ingress from the gutter to my bedroom wall. I contacted Halifax and I got a response that vermin damage isn't covered. However, the AZP Home Emergency cover DOES cover water ingress caused by pestilence but Halifax said they'd looked across both polices and, because Halifax had taken so long to answer my claim, AZP could no longer cover it as a Home Emergency!
Then, last month, I was feeling very ill due to my disabilities but had to attend an early medical appointment - I opened my front door to let my assistance dog go for a wee in front of my house but, partly due to my being half-asleep and partly because my dog dragged a squeaky toy out with him, I heard the front door Click-&-Lock behind me with keys on the INSIDE of door lock... I was locked out! My neighbour was up and he let me and my dog sit in their house to call AZP Home Emergency line and, when the call eventually got out through to a human, they asked a few questions before telling me that, because my house was effectively secure I'd have to pay £200 on-the-spot - my wallet was inside the house - plus, after paying, it was "up to a 24-hour wait after payment before they could send a locksmith out.
These 2 Halifax Home Insurance plus AZP Home Emergency policies are absolutely useless as both will reject any claim on the basis that the other policy is liable - Halifax says AZP covers it and AZP says Halifax covers it - I was sold this policy as a single cover policy for Building & Contents Cover with Home Emergency.
I've held buildings & contents insurance on my property for the past 30 years but the last 2-3 years with Halifax Home Insurance has shown their policies to be AWFUL!

Phoned up to make a claim rain coming through flashing on into bedroom cannot accept my claim because the wind was registered at 48mph not 55mph been with Halifax insurance 27 years absolutely a joke

Randomly blocked my card for online purchases. It's been a week since I provided ID and it's still blocked. My advice, avoid like the plague. I'm changing banks.

Absolutely ludicrous service by Home Emergency service which is one of the benefits of Ultimate Reward Account offered by Halifax. No electric, heating or hot water with a vulnerable 94 year old adult. 25 hours later and still no appointment for an electrician has been received. I have spent hours on the phone to the insurance only to be put on answerphone waiting for an agent. Halifax’s response when i raise a complaint is you will need to speak to the insurance to get them to tell me when the electrician will visit. Can someone please tell me what constitutes a “home emergency”. When you turn on the trip switch at the fuse box there is smoke coming from it so it is also a fire hazard. Whoever negotiates these third party contracts at Halifax needs to be accountable as they charge £19 per month for this “emergency home insurance” along with other benefits. Supposed to be a 24 hr service but i cannot speak to them because they are closed until the morning. Do you think it appropriate to invite them to my Father in Laws funeral who may die of hypothermia of this so called emergency service! Shame on you Halifax PLC and AXA Insurance company.

Contacted Halifax insurance re small claim. I could not access my house a key wouldn't turn. I had to get an emergancy locksmith who gained access and fitted a new lock.
Call handler said they would not honour the claim as the lock was faulty??. Is that not the point??
Long conversation regarding the ludicrous refusal. Customer service awful. I'd worry about claiming for a major incident

Have an any kind of insurance with HALIFAX we’ve got home insurance with building and contents and away from home! What a stupid mistake I’ve made I wouldn’t recommend them to my worse enemy! Because when you need to make a claim!! You’re nothing but a ( criminal,fraudster,liar,worthless low life who worth nothing)) this is exactly how they make you feel and treat you like one!
