This must be the worst insurance company on earth Poor communication unhelpful and do anything to get out of paying your claim....
My upstairs bedroom window was open and caught by hurricane wind in January and crashed down into garden luckily no one injured.
I sent countless pictures of broken window as needed a full replacement ....they tried to find a way to put the blame on anyone else so claim wasn't paid even the carpet fitters who were working in the room window fell from had to supply written info around what happened ...they email you from an account you can't reply to and when calling them it took on average 20-40 mins to get through.....plus I was unaware I had a £500 excess on the policy....daylight robbery.
I've been a longstanding customer of the Halifax but no more when renewal comes in...totally disgusted at the way customers are treated so think twice before getting involved with them....wish I had checked reviews....AVOID AVOID AVOID

With Halifax home insurance for 5 years rang them to look at my roof after the bad weather they decided to make the decision within 2mins over the phone blunt as you like no we don’t cover you for weather damage unless it’s 50mph wind never claimed before embarrassing service taking money for 5 years for no reason shocking do not use halifax stay clear the only thing useful they’ve done is cancel my policy SHOCKING I’m going to claim my money back through bank !!!

A damaged laptop claim has taken over 5 weeks and your 3rd party repairer still can't give me a date for its return. Unable to get through to your call centre to raise an official complaint. This is having a serious impact on my daughter's A Level preparation. Not what I expect from Halifax.

Shocking service
Had house and car insurance had a leak from the roof was told they would send someone to do a temp repair. They never showed up repaired it myself. When the assessor arrived he said the would no pay. Do not use

Absolute joke of a company.
Opened a home insurance claim for a leaking roof three weeks ago heard nothing back in that time. Paid out of my own pocket for a new roof and tried to call Halifax to close the claim. Live chat useless, phone line cuts you off after saying they’re only taking calls from vulnerable customers atm and in branch they can’t deal with home insurance either. I’ll be looking to move insurance and bank when my renewal is up as this is a joke to call this customer service

Truly shocking service, both pensioners, boiler failure in winter, can’t respond till 3 days later and wife has just broken her arm. This was right at the end of my second year of cover with no previous claims. Have cancelled the service by phone.

I filled in an online claim after my rendering on my outside wall off my home was badly damaged during the storms we had a few weeks ago. I quickly received a call from a lovely lady saying that they would, pending on the quote and the photos that i send them allocate me £1500 towards getting my wall fixed ,this was around 3 weeks ago .Today I had to phone them to be told that unfortunately my building insurance will not cover this damage as with the photo my rendering looks old and could have been already damaged , to my knowledge this was not the case. These storms did last for nearly a week with my rendering coming off on the first night , I really did think that this was what buildings insurance was for ,also having a large area off wall exposed to the Scottish weather could also be doing more damage but then again my insurance will probably be still useless . Really disappointed with The Halifax I will not be renewing my policy this year

Having recently losing my wallet, I cancelled my cards at which point I was told my credit card didn't exist because I hadn't used it in a while they'd cancelled it despite my card being valid till 2026 .
They claimed they'd written twice and had the letters "returned" .
They have my email and my telephone number.
Surely an organisation this big has the ability to make a phone call !
More ridiculous is on a daily basis I'm bombarded with messages to my Halifax app as to how much I've spent more than last week and how to keep my money safe from "scammers" yet there unable to tell me my credit card has been cancelled!
To add insult to injury when trying to reinstate by reapplying for some thing I've had for 40 odd years , I was told I had a bad credit score! Why ? Because I don't borrow or have any debt .
So despite having £20+ thousand sitting in the Halifax and even more in the equally inefficient Lloyds bank I not eligible for a credit card .
I don't actually want any credit but without the dreaded piece of plastic you struggle to book a hotel ,car hire or restaurant!
Halifax/Lloyds customer service is an absolute joke and as soon as I find "proper" bank my money is coming out of them both ...

Impossible to contact - actively refusing to accept customer calls claiming they are prioritising storm damage customers - the same excuse they have been using for six months. Even the feedback call didnt work properly. I would recommend avoiding them and switching to another provider who you can depend on when you need them.

Halifax home insurance is one of the worst In the Uk - They will mislead you , I moved in october 2023 to Halifax from Barclays but I am regretting only after 5 months & going back to Barlclays.

This customer service is joke been trying to sort claim August last year I been lie to talk down to mess about so keep away from these home insurance these are joke had been Direct line for year never any problems

It is very difficult to contact the team either by phone or e mail. Nobody answers your call. You can’t send mail directly. After filling out the claims form, you get a no reply email asking to upload the same pictures by a link which doesn’t work. You can’t respond directly. You need to go back for fresh claim.
After you pay, they are just difficult to contact.

Received a call re my experience with Halifax Customer Services - on answering the question how likely are you to use the company again with zero. Thats is not at all, I was promptly cut off. No surprises there. It seems Halifax has no intention of actually listening to customers, or improving their service. Avoid

Seven weeks into a very straightforward claim for accidental damage.
Their phone lines aren’t accepting calls. They never respond to messages. Their nominated inspection company despair at my daily calls to which they have no answers.
Do not waste your money insuring with these crooks.

Appalling service. It’s taken over 4 months to get my claim sorted and the whole process was diabolical.

I would not recommend this insurance company. I am a happy Halifax bank customer and they are letting down the good name with their insurance division.

After numerous no shows from their contractor, a mess up with payments, being told the wrong information and countess hours wasted.

If you are reading this rotten review I suggest you consider another insurance company for a more positive experience.

Currently going through a complaint with them due to their negligence having caused more damage to my already fire and water damaged property. Will be taking court action if I don't get a full cash pay out for the remainder works as well as significant compensation. Get paid out and do the works yourself with your own contractor at least you have complete control like my neighbour has done.

renewed there policy with me without informing me, when I rang to complain I was told I should have received a letter informing me I told them iI hadn't received a letter I was told that that's happened a lot recently! the policy had increased by £134 pounds we cancelled and found a quote for £180 less. 14 days later still waiting for a refund. I'm surprised that the above is legal. Like other comments here would leave 0 star or minus 0 if possible.

There should be a no star rating. This has to be the worst home insurance company in the Country, I just cannot imagine worse. It’s a total waste of time and money holding a policy with Halifax. I have a subsidence claim soon running into 18 months and still not complete i.e. 6 months just to get them to take photos of the damage to the property, another 6 months to prepare the recommendation report and another 6 months before addressing the cause of the fault. I have no doubt that I will also wait another 6 months before they remedy the damage to the home (total 2 years!). Calling, emailing, chasing up, etc, will bring you to tears, they appear to be an autonomous entity doing 'what they want when they want' while of course still taking your hiked up premium payments. Stay away and save yourself the utter despair!

Halifax have delighted in leaving a confused, vulnerable 82 year old lady in a shocking state! They have denied storm Henk ever took place and refuse to help this lady. Apparently the damage to her roof just happened and the fact there was a named storm doesn’t matter because according to them there was no storm! They have seen an elderly, confused, visibly upset lady and lied to her as a way of getting out of paying to fix her roof. This lady has been with Halifax for 50 years and never put a claim in till now. She still believes insurance is there to help and can’t understand why she is being treated this way. Halifax hang your head in shame!

DO NOT INSURE WITH HALIFAX / LLOYDS ! This was my first ever insurance claim in 30+ years. I can honestly say it has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I will not go into the details but they have done everything they possibly can to pay out the minimum.
Everything is treated under the broadest of terms and if I hear the words sorry but please refer back to policy again, I'm likely to scream! They have no intention of listening and are constantly reading from a script!!
