Beware

Beware! The after sales service is appalling. A coffee machine I purchased 11 months ago from Harvey Norman Bondi Junction stopped producing coffee as the mechanism that pierced the coffee pod stopped functioning properly. I took the machine and my original receipt evidencing date and proof of purchase into the store to ask for a replacement as a failure where the coffee machine no longer produces coffee has been ruled on many occasions by NCAT and the ACCC to be “major” failure under the Australian Consumer Law. This entitles me to choose my remedy of a repair, replacement or refund. I asked for a replacement. Despite me stating the law, the manager insisted that the machine be sent away for assessment/repair for a number of weeks and denied my legal remedy of replacement. The manager also refused my suggestion to perform an assessment in store to verify the failure which would’ve taken about a minute. This store relies on customers not bothering to make a formal complaint to the ACCC or NCAT. Having researched complaints history to the ACCC and NCAT, Harvey Norman is a major culprit of poor and illegal responses to valid consumer claims and findings have been made against Harvey Norman in scenarios exactly like mine. Despite this, the manager refused repeatedly to offer me a replacement. I will not be rewarding this franchise with my business ever again.

Absolutely Useless for Online Orders…

I placed an online order for a phone and heard absolutely nothing for three weeks.

When I attempted contact they told me the product was not available with the supplier and they were trying to get it transferred from an interstate store. It had been over three weeks by this point. I could have gotten one from overseas faster!

It really does seem to me that they did not even action the original order!

I got an email today (I insisted on updates and would email them when I did not receive one as I just knew they were not going to contact me unless I hassled them) telling me it would be another two weeks. So from the original online order date that will make it around FIVE WEEKS!!!

These people don’t care about customers. Their ‘service’ is useless. I’d recommend trying somewhere else if you can do it, I would not recommend them.

Terrible customer service

We had ordered some mattress and they came damaged. The bedding lady from the Marion superstore refuses to believe they came damaged and won't give us any compensation for them. She says it occurred on our end but after they were delivered and we open them, there was the damage. Very poor customer service!

What a dreadful company

What a dreadful company, ordered a chest freezer, went to the warehouse to pick it up and got it home only to find serious crush damage to the bottom of the item. Called the Bondi store within minutes of unboxing only to be told that ‘the operations manager would get back to me when he could’. He never did. Immediately took the item back to the warehouse ‘who didn’t normally accept returns’ pointing me back to the Bondi store even though the damage was significant and it’d been less than an hour since I picked it up!! What chaos, what a shambles at every point in the process. I won’t buy from them again that’s for sure

HN choose to use a useless courier…

HN choose to use a useless courier service, which makes it almost impossible to receive my product. I contacted both Courier and HN via phone and email and neither would assist me. Eventually I had to sit at home for days, in the hopes he might turn up as he would turn up whenever, not when specified to get my parcel. Both Aramex and HN were useless and refused to help me. Never buying from them again!

Serious Concerns About Misleading Conduct at Harvey Norman Toowoomba

I am submitting this review to formally document what I consider an exceptionally poor and deeply concerning experience at Harvey Norman Toowoomba.

I attended the store with my son to purchase an iPhone 16. During the purchase, staff strongly pushed the Mobile Freedom plan and repeatedly assured us that the arrangement would be simple: pay $262 upfront, then pay again the following year to receive a new phone. I clearly stated multiple times that the phone would be taken overseas. Staff confirmed they would “find a solution” and assured us that this would not cause any problems.

Based on these explicit assurances, we proceeded with payment.

When circumstances changed and we requested the return of the $262, the store manager (Luke) initially refused and attempted to shift responsibility to Mobile Freedom. I reminded him that their staff conducted the transaction, made the representations, accepted the payment, and portrayed himself as the person responsible for arranging the plan. After extended discussion—witnessed by my son—he agreed to issue a store credit for the full amount and stated it would be processed and usable the next day.

However, when I later attempted to use the credit, the manager changed his explanation entirely. He now denied ever promising that Harvey Norman would provide the credit. Instead, he claimed that “Mobile Freedom” was responsible, contradicting his earlier commitment and contradicting what he told us in front of a witness.

The sudden reversal, inconsistent statements, and shifting explanations created an overwhelming impression of misleading and evasive conduct. At no stage did the manager provide a consistent, transparent, or reliable explanation. When I attempted to obtain clarity, he ultimately asked us to leave the store rather than resolve the issue.

The conduct I experienced—especially the denial of statements previously made in front of a witness—raises serious concerns regarding the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of customer representations made at this location.

I urge Harvey Norman to thoroughly investigate the sales practices at the Toowoomba store, particularly where verbal representations are later denied or contradicted. In my experience, the handling of this matter fell far below acceptable standards of honesty, accountability, and customer service.

way way way over priced. Literally sold me a temu quality product. Made it so hard to get a refund. Even though the product was clearly faulty. I began the return process which was incredibly painful the day I got my item. I would never shop here again

Whitegoods delivery to heavy for delivery men?

Over the weekend, I purchased a Miele dishwasher on behalf of my daughter. As I was unable to take delivery on the day and I was advised it would be delivered. I specifically mentioned that there were stairs involved and was told this would not be an issue.
The dishwasher was delivered yesterday, but the delivery team left it in the garage. My daughter was then expected to carry it upstairs on her own, which she was obviously unable to do. I now need to make separate arrangements to have the dishwasher carried upstairs for her today.
Had the salesperson informed me that your delivery staff are unable to take a dishwasher upstairs, I would have organised an alternative solution. Instead, I was told the stairs would not pose a problem.
I am very disappointed with this experience, and it will certainly influence my decision to purchase from Harvey Norman in the future.

Harvey Norman

Harvey Norman stores are all owned directly by the company. The stores are not independently owned or franchised. They have stolen from the Australian taxpayer and abused their staff using this system. They have their salespeople create and dissolve shell companies in their personal name whenever someone tries to file a lawsuit. Please contact their corporate office directly to complain.

When I checked docket it said double dosybe was my fault. Went to see lady in charge of beds and she was so helpful. No problem organised a queen for me and collected the double

I wish I'd read the reviews

Renovating my first bathroom. The tap was too long for the basin depth. I wanted to replace it. Oh no. Even though I spent almost 15K at HN on the new bathrooms and kitchen, they would not let me return a tap. What scumbags. How greedy these people are. I would never recommend them. I only wish I'd purchased in person from Reece or Highgrove and given them a fair share of that 15K. Surely this is common to make the wrong decision before you see how everything actually fits together. Surely I am within my consumer rights to get a refund for product that is unused and still in its packaging? I guess I'll find out! And as for the shipping - the most confusing thing I have experienced. Because I purchased SO MANY items from HN, the order cam in seven parts, but it was never clear which delivery item related to which part so I never knew what was turning up when. I really wish I'd read the other reviews before trusting HN with my cash

Kriston Stewart at Port Macquarie store - absolutely best customer service ever!

I recently had an issue with my shredder so followed the online procedure to return, was given a complete run around by Coffs Harbour Store who couldn't have cared less about the customer's issue with a faulty product, but then Kriston Stewart from Port Macquarie store stepped in and I have to say was the best customer service I have ever received. Not only did Kriston take up and follow through with my returned shredder, Kriston made the whole process a much better experience by overseeing that I received a replacement shredder, and also touched base with me all the way along. Kriston was instrumental in helping me receive the replacement shredder and i cannot recommend Port Macquarie store highly enough (my local store Coffs Harbour did absolutely nothing to help me at any stage). Thankyou Kriston for the best customer service ever received. Regards from Jen :)

I'm a grown man i should have known…

I'm a grown man i should have known better buying a garden shed from a television retailer, but i didn't expect to be hoodwinked either,Harvey used an unethical means of grabbing the small garden shed market by advertising a shed with dimentions of 1.64m in length,big enough for my solar battery install but when i opened the package i find out it is closer to 1.4m and the 1.64m referred to the roof measurement, not to worry HN a big multi national would do the right thing and refund, half a dozen back and forth with their online returns man Mark who continually asked the same question in an attempt to have me give up has led me here to warn others not to buy anything from HN online as there is zero recourse if you get hoodwinked as well.

Poor communication

I ordered a water rower from Harvey Norman online on 21st April 2025. It has taken me some time to find somewhere to place an honest review. I've seen more organisation on a fish pond. No communication at all apart from an email acknowledgment of my order.I heard nothing after that and I had no idea when / if the delivery was going to arrive. Terrible communication and the link they finally sent me directed me to the wrong courier so I couldn't find any information. I had to stay home for days and it arrived with no invoice, so I had to request one. After a few days I received one, via email. Their deliveries directly from stores direct are great but online are not. They are absolutely awful. I shall never be ordering anything from them online again

It's just to hard to get a problem…

It's just to hard to get a problem solved (with an inept product). It's pass the parcel to someone else. They have no interest in my problem, I will have no further interest in ever buying from them again. PLENTY of competitors elsewhere!!! - and BETTER SERVICE!!!

Harvey Norman instructs salespeople to set up shell businesses that have no tangible assets and no actual ownership over the stores. They do this to avoid legal accountability and taxation responsibilities.
This is how Harvey Norman was able to steal taxpayer money during the covid pandemic, despite making record profits.
Serious complaints made by customers and staff are redirected from Harvey Norman to employees that are only “Franchisees” on paper and nothing more.
