customer service bad…

customer service was good until it didn't come 4-5 weeks turned to 7. they never rang however said they did (have answering machine always on) and didn't leave house that day. 1st said someone was annual leave, then it came 2 weeks before, then that Monday They need to tell the truth and only got it as I rang and told its now in stock. one star for ordering and one for the fact I got it. I went to purchase a carpet cleaner at…

I went to purchase a carpet cleaner at the Temora HN I'd seen advertised in the Black Friday sales but was told that it would have to be ordered & would come in 3 wks.
After a mth I enquired about it & was told by this not at all helpful little weasel that he would like into it. After going back wk after wk it finally arrived in March but on reading the instruction booklet that stated it was not to be used on wool carpet I emailed Shark to verify it & was told it would ruin wool & told me to take it back to the retailer for a refund.
When we took it back the little weasel told us we couldn't have the refund there & then as they would have to receive an email from Shark. We were going back every wk & kept getting the same old yarns that Shark had to get in touch with them or they would ring Shark.
The Thursday before Easter when my husband went in to ask about it the weasel tried to intimidate my husband saying we had just changed our minds & didn't want it (my husband being in his early 80's).
I therefore sent an email to HN head office stating all that had taken place & that we had been deliberately
given the run around & he had been playing funny bunnies with us. The email was diverted to the Temora store & 9am on the Tuesday we received a ring from the manager to say the refund would be waiting for us when we went to Temora next.
Never buy anything from the Temora store & from other reviews I've read I would keep right away from any HN stores.

Worse customer service Harvey Norman…

Worse customer service Harvey Norman Mackay. Took a vacuum cleaner that had stopped working but under Product Care warranty. They took the vacuum cleaner and said they will send it to the repairers but I would need to deal with them as it is no longer with Harvey Norman to deal with. After months of going around in circles with Product Care, I went into Harvey Normans and after weeks of phone calls trying to find out what was going on, it turned out they had lost it and was never sent to the repairers.

We were given store credit to the value of the missing vacuum cleaner which we used to purchase a new model that wasn't in store but told it would be in the following week and they would contact when it arrived. After 2 weeks of waiting, we rang again and told it is coming and should arrive in the next week and they will contact me. After the following weeks I rang again only to be told they are having problems with their supplier and can't get that model so have to chose a different model or another brand.
I rang the Cannonvale store (110km away) and they had 5 in stock. I asked HN to do a stock transfer which was going to take 7 - 10 working days....2 weeks later I rang to find out the original order had arrived and we can come and pick it up.... No communication from HN throughout the ordeal unless I rang and get the standard store runaround trying to connect to customer service..

Can't complain about HN customer service....there is't any.

Don’t Shop at Harvey Norman.

I purchased a lounge suite from Harvey Norman Castle Hill, I paid extra to have it installed however on arrival the delivery driver told me that the three seater was bent and that he would report it and someone would contact me and I would get a new one. I was never contacted and when I called the store they were not interested and told me to call customer service. I called several times with no one answering. I emailed them with no response I even posted a letter to head office still no response. I contacted ACCC and they gave me an official letter head to send, finally got a email from customer service telling me that they were busy training someone as they were leaving. I finally received a call from a repair company who inspected my lounge and said that they would have to order the replacement part from overseas. It took four months plus numerous emails which were never answered l only got results from the repair company. Once you hand over your money Harvey Norman wants nothing more to do with you.

No service!

We haven't been to Harvey Normal for years because of the bad service we have experienced in the past. I bought a $3500 chair because of the softness of the leather, and when I recieved it, it was so hard. I complained and was told that it would soften, which it never did so we have never been back since.
We live in the country and quite far from the city, so don't get into town so often, but today we thought we would try to visit a HN store again (Moonah, Tas) with something simple to have some photos printed. I haven't done this before so asked for help and was told it was self service! So I tried the self service machine, connected my phone and selected last 100 photos. It came up with photos I took years ago, not the ones I needed printing!!! So I asked for some help and was told again that it is self serve and that they couldn't help. I DO understand self serve, but the machine was doing something different than it should, so it was faulty in my opinion. We were so shocked and will NEVER return to Harvey Normal. It's a pity as we are in the market for new furniture.....

Malaga, Perth - you rock!!

After a no service experience in Midland, I visited the Malaga store in Perth. Best decision ever. Dwyane and Cynthia were outstanding. Thank you for helping me with mum's Mother's Day gift. The ideal turntable and speakers made it to my car and even placed there by Dwayne himself. You are both fantastic ambassadors for HN and I appreciate all the effort.

Some very good staff at Harvey Norman

I would like to express my appreciation for the excellent service I received from Imrose Hussain at your Adelaide City branch when I went to there to purchase a Google Pixel Pro phone.

He demonstrates all the qualities of an outstanding salesperson — highly professional while also understanding and attentive from a customer’s perspective. His approach made the experience smooth and very positive.

Please pass on my thanks to him.

Grabs your money and holds you hostage


On 16/11/25 ordered two recliners. Zedere Odin Recliner + footstool.
I was told by Tommy that they would arrive in February 2026
When I returned home and scanned the receipt I identified that arrival wasn't due until March 2026. Not a big issue.

I called the store in March 2026 and was told they were on their way and should be here late March.
I called the store in late March and was told they were on their way and would be here before Easter.
I called the store after Easter and was told someone would get back to me.
I called the store again after nil response and was told "They haven't finished making them yet. It will not arrive until late May."

I understand that some things are beyond your control but BASIC customer service is WITHIN your control. For me to have to call FOUR times and be lied to on the first two occasions and fobbed off on the third is appalling. 

You have me over a barrel because if I cancel my order it will take even longer for the product to arrive. 

Somehow I doubt there is a resolution strategy that will fix this issue as the horse has bolted.

The delivery drivers Scotty and Ryan wete the most friendliest, nicest and professional team that I've ever experienced.

I purchased an Anthbot robotic lawn…

I purchased an Anthbot robotic lawn mower through Harvey Norman Online which failed within minutes of first use due to a hardware fault in the drive motor.

I contacted both Harvey Norman and the manufacturer immediately. The manufacturer reviewed video evidence and confirmed the unit was faulty and required replacement. Despite this, Harvey Norman’s response was slow, repetitive, and disorganised.

Over the course of more than two weeks:

* I was repeatedly asked to provide the same information
* Communication was inconsistent and at times sent to incorrect contact details
* Clear evidence, including video and manufacturer confirmation, was not properly acknowledged
* I was initially advised to seek repair instead of being offered a refund for a brand new faulty product

I also attended a physical Harvey Norman store, where I was told they could not assist with online orders.

The situation only progressed after I escalated the matter through Consumer Affairs Victoria and lodged a dispute with Afterpay. Once financial pressure was applied, the process suddenly moved forward, with a return eventually arranged.

Even then, the courier attended without prior notice, causing further inconvenience.

While I did ultimately receive a refund, this was not due to proactive customer service — it was the result of persistent follow-up and escalation.

This experience highlights significant issues with Harvey Norman’s online marketplace support, particularly around handling faulty goods under Australian Consumer Law.

I would strongly recommend exercising caution when purchasing through their online platform, as after-sales support may not meet expectations if something goes wrong.

What makes a store amazing is the way they fix problem

Toowoomba store. Bought a TV was not treated well by the salesperson. Today was back in store and mentioned to a salesperson what happened. She printed out my transaction and took it to her manager who then went above and beyond to correct the problem. Two phone calls and emails and problem fixed. Never judge a store by one salesperson when everyone else are happy to help and even ask for assistance if they don't know the answer. Thanks for such great service. You are a great store and highly recommend this store.

Very disappointed with the after-sales…

Very disappointed with the after-sales support from Harvey Norman.

I purchased a Bosch Series 8 9kg washing machine (model WGG24401AU) from Harvey Norman in July 2024 for $1,694, including additional Product Care coverage.
Recently, the machine developed a water leakage issue, which I reported promptly.

The issue was escalated to Bosch, however the warranty claim was declined on the basis of a “foreign object” causing the damage. No clear evidence or explanation was provided as to what this object was or how this conclusion was reached.

What is most frustrating is the lack of accountability and support from Harvey Norman as the retailer. Under Australian Consumer Law, consumers are entitled to a remedy when a product develops a major fault within a reasonable timeframe. Instead of assisting with a fair resolution, I was left to deal directly with the manufacturer and navigate the dispute myself.
This experience has been extremely disappointing. I expected better support, especially given the additional Product Care purchased and the reputation of the retailer.

I have now escalated the matter to NSW Fair Trading.

I recently purchased an iPhone 17 Pro…

I recently purchased an iPhone 17 Pro from Harvey Norman for $1,999.99. At the time of purchase, I was not offered any trade-in option for my old phone.

Shortly after, I found that Costco was selling the same model for $1,929.99 and also offering a $215 trade-in for my old device. This means I could have saved a total of $285 if I had purchased from Costco instead.

I returned to Harvey Norman to ask if they could match the price or allow me to return the phone, but both requests were refused. This was very disappointing, as I had just made the purchase and expected better customer service.

Because of this experience, I would recommend that others compare prices carefully and consider buying from Costco before choosing Harvey Norman.

Overall, I’m unhappy with the service and the lack of flexibility shown to a recent customer.

Replacement Dryer during cold/wet week.

Our dryer failed. I researched and found a combo washer/dryer. Went online to Harvey Norman and they advertised at a good price.
Paid and a few hours later was notified "Out of Stock" expected delay about 3 weeks.
Immediately cancelled the order and requested a refund to purchase a dryer that was in stock.
Was told that the refund would appear in my account in 2-3 business days.
Dryer was scheduled for delivery on a Tuesday. We waited ALL DAY. Wednesday emailed a complaint and asked"where is my fryer".
Received a phone call that afternoon apologising, asked me for a suitable day. Scheduled for the following Friday and as an apology - was promised free wall mounting service on delivery.
Delivered on time - driver said he had no instructions to mount the dryr. Delivered the machine and left.
At 82 I could not mount the machine and had to pay for mounting.
Meanwhile I checked my card account - NO refund (after 5 Business days).
3 emails later - each second day - I finally received my refund 12 days after requesting it.
Will not be using again.

Floor stock sold by telling customers there are 8 week delays if they want stock from the supplier

I have expereinced that sales person will tell a prospective customer that they will have to wait for eight weeks to recieve a product from the supplier whereas the item on the floor is available immediately.
I have reason to believe that this is a ploy to get rid of floor stock instead of being true.
My experiences relates to the Briwns Plains branch on 15 Jan and 18 Feb

If I could give no stars I would

If I could give no stars I would. Absolutely appalling experience with Harvey Norman Head Office and the flooring department at the Maribyrnong store this week.

The first installation team arrived only to tell us they could not complete the very job we had contracted Harvey Norman to do almost two months ago.

A second team was then arranged, but they arrived 6 hours late, wasting an entire day. When they finally turned up, we were blindsided with news that the work would now cost an extra $4,000 and that we would need to vacate our home immediately for 2–3 days—none of which was ever disclosed during the sales process. Apparently the installer was asked to do a pre-inspection (something we only found out after the fact) but never did.

What followed was even worse. Throughout the entire ordeal we were given multiple contradictory stories from different people, making it impossible to know what was actually true. At one point we even caught the store manager in an outright lie, which completely destroyed any remaining trust.

The manager then refused to speak to us directly, instead passing messages through the salesperson rather than handling the issue professionally himself. When we proposed a reasonable compromise—that the store absorb one-third of the unexpected additional cost—we were told the manager would “rather cancel the job.” Even then, it still took almost a full day of arguing and negotiation before the store finally agreed to issue a full refund.

Head Office has been no better. I was promised the matter would be investigated and that someone would call me back. Despite several follow-up calls, I have still received no response at all.

This whole experience was defined by incompetence, hidden costs, contradictory information, dishonesty, and a complete lack of accountability. If you are considering Harvey Norman for flooring, especially the Maribyrnong store, I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere.
