Watch the lies

They have been running an ad saying you have 30 days to return your purchase if it doesn't work in your house.. Purchased 2 lift chairs from them and they were to big for the room. Tried to return them and was told I could not, Finally relented if I would pay a 20% restocking fee ($900.00). Watch out for their lies.

1. I purchased an electric reclining chair in March of 2025. It's February of 2026 and it has inexplicably lost power. La-Z-Boy said I must contact the retailer for warranty claims. I called and was told to file a claim against the protection plan that I had purchased at time of sale. I had hoped to save that in case of a toddler stain, but the person from the store told me I would have to pay $125 just for someone to come look at the chair and tell me I need a new cord. It was over $1500 for the chair. Never have I heard of such a thing. BUYER BEWARE.

2. My parents purchased a twin sized bed with a trundle and two mattresses for my son. They added the set to a furniture purchase for their home, and since the store would not deliver to two locations, we had to transport the bed and mattresses from their house to ours (despite paying for delivery). Fine. After we moved and assembled the bed, we opened the mattresses and put them on the main bed frame and the trundle. However, when pushing the trundle back under the main bed, it did not fit.

We went to the store to inform them that they sold us a bed with an accompanying mattress that did not fit. We assumed this would be a situation where they would apologize and deliver the correct mattress for the bed as soon as possible. Instead, a different salesman approached us with a childish grin and piece of paper signed by my dad and said, "We did not sell you the mattress. You purchased it."

We laughed, because obviously this was a joke, right? We came to a brick and mortar FOR the "Sales Experience", isn't that your last leg to stand on against Wayfair?

When he didn't follow up with a "Just kidding!" I said "Are you fu*king kidding me? This is not how you do business. No, I want a mattress that fits the bed I purchased, not to buy a third mattress." He then threatened to call the police. Never in my life have I been in trouble with the law, nor has anyone threatened to call the police on me. I was shocked and angry - I was not violent, irate, or acting in a manner that warranted law enforcement intervention whatsoever.

We left mortified, but I had to reenter the store to retrieve my son's missing shoe. The manager approached saying he was on the phone working out some kind of deal where I could take a used floor model if I brought back the original because it could be sold at a warehouse. He did not apologize, wore an expression of distain on his face, and maintained that this was my fault as he showed us a selection of "bunk and trundle mattresses" - exactly what the original salesman should have done. I do not work at a furniture store, therefore I did not know that this category of mattress existed.

The salesman at the phone store wouldn't suggest I purchase an iPhone case for my Pixel phone... This was their error, and rather than taking accountability, they blamed me, treated my family like trash, and gave us a used mattress as consolation. Good luck surviving the retail apocalypse.

After ordering and paying cash for a nice leather recliner…..I’m now waiting a month after it arrived in Grand’s warehouse for it to be delivered. It snowed on the delivery day and instead of having to wait an extra day for delivery I got bumped out to 8 more days of waiting. I’ve purchased 2 bedroom suits, black leather den ensemble furniture, a leather recliner for my mother and now this chair as well in the last 10 years from Grand. It’s my last time to do business with them. The only thing that gets results is to stop shopping somewhere when you’re not treated right.

Ridiculous - 3 tries, all WRONG

My sister and her husband found living room furniture in the showroom that they loved. They ordered it and paid for it. The day of delivery, they scheduled help to remove their old furniture, so it was gone. When her furniture from Grand was delivered, it was the wrong set. My sister spoke to them and they supposedly fixed it and set another delivery date. They told her to use the 'wrong' set until then.

The second delivery day came, and they once again scheduled help to move the furniture. Once again, Grand delivered the wrong furniture -it was two different colored pieces. After talking to multiple employees, they said they had fixed the problem and scheduled a third delivery date.
They were finally able to deliver the correct set, but it was not the color that my sister had picked out. When she spoke to an employee, they admitted that what she had picked out was actually no longer available, but they had left the model set just sit in the showroom. So, in the end, my sister still did not actually get what she paid for. My sister and her husband were just so fed up at the end that they kept the 3rd set.

THEN my sister realized that the 3rd set that was delivered was broken. Grand sent someone out to 'fix' it, but they did a sloppy job and how it's broken again.
During all of this, an employee told my sister that she could call in and speak to a manager about getting a discount because it had been such a nightmare. My sister did that, but the manager told her, "No, you got your furniture. You're not getting a discount."
DO NOT do business with these people unless you want to waste your time and your money.

I had a very negative experience turned…

I had a very negative experience turned into a very good experience. The chair I had covered in a fabric did not match my room at all when it was delivered and Steve the manager made it possible for me to exchange that for a fabric that was something that I wanted. I was very pleased with the outcome and will definitely shop there again.

Failed delivery promises

We went into Grands home furnishings to look for a new bedroom set, we found the one that we had been wanting for quite sometime. We talked to the salesman and we were getting everything squared away. We got to the delivery portion and the salesman ( Scott Hancock) and the lady setting up our payment and delivery said we could pick when we wanted our furniture to be delivered. He said they would accommodate our schedule with either a morning, afternoon or evening delivery time. We just needed to pick which time of day was best for us. We told him that morning was the best time of day for us since we have opposite work schedules and afternoon and evenings would be really hard for us to do. He said ok and said they were setting us up for a morning delivery and the delivery people would be in touch with us and text or call. The day that they were supposed to deliver we told them we had to have the furniture delivered in the morning because we were going to be leaving town in the afternoon. The salesman said that would be fine. The delivery people texted and said that delivery would be between 3-5 pm; which we were already going to be gone by that time. So we called them and told them we couldn’t do that they would have to deliver another morning. They said ok and set us up for another “ morning” delivery a week later. The next week my husband got stuck out at work and wouldn’t be home till that evening, I was going into work late so I could be home to get the furniture if it was being delivered in the morning. 10am rolled around and I called my husband to see if they had texted he said no. So I said let me call them because I need to leave for work soon and no one has contacted us. I called GHF in Roanoke on valley view blvd where we were buying our furniture from. The lady that answered the phone said that they wouldn’t be delivering to our house until between 1-3 pm. I said ma’am can they do any earlier because I can’t wait all day. She said “ that’s not all day just 2 hours “ I said “ma’am I work and as it is I’m going in late for this; and I might as well not even go to work if I have to wait that long. And I need to go to work because I already said I would be there. She said that the delivery drivers would text. I hung up with her called my husband and told him what had happened. They had ended up trying to reschedule for another 2 weeks from that day, which we again would be out of town. My husband talked to the salesman and told him we cannot do an afternoon delivery and he had told us that they could accommodate and now they’re not. The salesman said “ I didn’t say that”. Which at that point we were fit to be tied, my husband cancelled the order and told them we will not be buying the furniture from them now or ever again. This was the worst experience, it wouldn’t have been so bad if we hadn’t been lied to. We would have tried to make it work if we had been told in the beginning that they only do late afternoon and evening deliveries but since we were lied to and told we could pick when we wanted the furniture and then being told “ I never said that”. That made us pretty angry about the whole situation. We went the next week to another furniture store told them what happened and asked about delivery they told us they have a truck that comes out to our area once a week and would that day work. And we could get morning/ early afternoon delivery if that worked for us. We said it did, and we are getting our furniture delivered this week. Something that GHF would not do. I wish I could say that we had this great experience and they really tried to work with us. But they didn’t, they just kept lying all the way to the end.

Don't trust anything about this company

I bought a bedroom set from Grand Furniture. Unfortunately, I ended up running into some financial problems and fell behind on my payments, it happens. Grand Furniture ended up garnishing my wages. Through the garnishment, Grand Furniture received all the money they requested from the court. A month after the garnishment was satisfied, Grand Furniture began calling me once again saying that I owed them more money. I told the lady that the garnishment had been satisfied, and everything was paid to the court. I just received notice from my employer today that GRAND FURNITURE IS TRYING TO GARNISH MY WAGES AGAIN!! How can this company continue to keep doing this? I am going to fight this as much as I can. Grand Furniture is a rip-off! They may extend credit to anyone but believe me, they will try to suck you dry. I wish I could this company less than 1 star.

For one thing I have been fighting with…

For one thing I have been fighting with them for seven years about a mattress and lift unit unit only worked couple times guy came out three times said ordered new motor never received it now they say it’s been discontinued and out if warranty mattress was checked saw sink in middle I started this claim soon after bought I had trouble with a sectional they took back after few months recliner broke they replaced it with a new couch I had to pay extra was talked into buying warranty which is useless. The couch is never set on looks like did on showroom floor I keep covered up and was going to was covers and when I pulled cushions off springs had busted through material and was sharp enough to cut you I filed with warranty and they refuse to fix it. Said was normal wear and tear this couch is only a year and a half old. They do not back their products and the products are below standard I will never buy anything from them again. Their furniture is trash. And don’t let them talk you into buying the expensive warranty not worth it they do not back it up Beware. Of this company. I have had many problems with them if a thousand dollar couch won’t last a year and a half I hate to see how long a more expensive one will. Trash and get to help non existent

Purveyors of junk

Purveyors of junk. Spent in excess of 6k on a bedroom set. Bed collapsed after 20 months due to the installers failing to put washers on the bolts, Upon returning to the store, the saleswoman is ready with a charge sheet of how much it will cost to send ‘Technicians’ out to fix it. In excess of $140.00. STAY AWAY.

Unprofessional and incompetent

The unprofessional conduct and lack of customer service from their sales associates to the store manager, (Steve Tincher) is appalling. It started on Black Friday before closing when sales associates were standing by the door complaining about numbers. The young guy that was assigned to us was rude, pushy, and then lied to obtain the sale. Saturday morning when we decided to proceed with the purchase, we were told that our set was no longer available new and had to take the floor model with no additional discount. We agreed with the understanding that it was a different sales associate. The following day/Sunday, we called to order the matching sectional. No sales pitch was needed yet we were put on hold for a ridiculous amount of time then rushed when the associate got on just to get our basic information. She said the finance office would call us back. We had to leave messages for two days until they returned our call to officially order the sectional. When the sectional did arrive, the men dropped it on the ground directly from the truck (didn’t even lower the step). It was raining and instead of using appropriate moving equipment, they put holes in the plastic to carry to the door. They then set the two separate parts on their ends where rain dripped into the ripped holes onto the new furniture. When we got the new set inside, the ends were soaked. We had to have heaters running to dry it out. We contacted the store to ask for a credit and the matching pillows for compensation. They offered to order a replacement but waiting another month and dealing with their drivers again was not a good enough solution. Becki said the manager would contact us Thursday. No such communication was received. On Saturday, WE had to reach out to him/Steve in which he only offered a minimal discount. He arrogantly suggested it was sufficient for the numerous issues we had experienced. We countered. He/Steve refused to resolve the situation over $50? How incredibly incompetent and another display of their poor customer service. None of the 3 pieces of furniture are what was advertised, promised, or in the condition agreed at purchase. No one at Grand accepted accountability. I would NEVER recommend this store, and the corporate office needs to evaluate the individuals they put in a management/community role.

I wish id read the trustpilot accounts for this company first. My bad. Purchased a bed online over the Xmas period and now I can’t get in touch with anybody to arrange delivery. Know one answers the phones, no response to emails. Complete bunch of wastrels that need to go out of business and stop wasting peoples time

UPDATE

We ordered a reclining couch and a recliner from Grand in December of 2021. We also bought the extended warranty. The couch broke prior to a year being up. Grand literally told us if we had just came in 2 days sooner, they would have replaced the couch. We then contacted the warranty company, since we had the Platinum Plan. Our first contact was in December 2022. A technician FINALLY came out in February 2022 and stated they expect the recliners to fail after 2 years. Regardless, after the technician contact, we did not hear back from anyone. We called and called until THIS December, 2023, we were told they cancelled our claim. Long story short, after not being able to stand broken furniture in my living room, they offered to pro-rate our insurance... from a WHOLE YEAR AFTER OUR CLAIM!! We have a broken couch, 2 more months till parts could arrive, and no satisfaction. (redaction of the comment about the insurance and quality of product)

UPDATE: An associate reached out to me this morning (12/14/2023) and stated they would correct our situation by giving us a store credit for the amount of the couch if I would update the review. After talking to a supervisor from the insurance company and an associate from Grand Home Furnishings corporate on 12/12/2023, who stated I voided my warranty and they were doing no more to help my situation, the person from Grand who called today stated she wanted to make it right. We do appreciate the associate who called today who helped us after falling though numerous cracks.

Even though I redacted my comment on the insurance they sale, I will state we did not get anything but frustration from the insurance. I cannot and will not state anything positive about our experience with the Platinum Plan.

Poor communication

Ordered a mattress and frame. Was told 2 week delivery. Mattress delivered after 6 weeks. Was told delivery was delayed due to the mattress warehouse closing for a week to celebrate 4th of July. We showed up at the store to question the continued delay (before delivery) and were told the mattress showed up 3 days ago but the employee didn’t get a chance to get on their computer for those 3 days to let us know. Mattress was then delivered without frame. We were told the frame order was on a second sheet of paper stapled to the first and never ordered. Staff appears incompetent.

Hi My name is Terri,I've been shopping at Grand for years.You have a young lady working at your store on Littlecreek rd Her name is Techera Hatcher.We had such a great experience with her.She multi-task very well.Her customer service is exceptional.She made us feel like she had time to listen to our concerns,and that's hard to find going into some other bussiness.She had to answer the phone a couple of times to help incoming callers,and she was very professional.I think a lot of people in customer service could take a lot pointers from this young lady,anyway Iwill refer alot of my friends,and family to Grend Furniture on Littlecreek rd just so they can get the same positive experience that I did.

Delayed delivery - poor customer service

We purchased a sofa and accent chair from the Grand Home Furnishings store located in Waynesboro, VA on 10/23/2022. We paid for the purchase at that time. The delivery was scheduled for 10/31/2022. The furniture was delivered on 10/31/2022. However, two of the legs on the sofa were damaged. I contacted the Waynesboro store that same day. I was informed that an exchange would be made shortly thereafter. After waiting several weeks, I contacted the Waynesboro store. I was informed the delivery was scheduled for 12/08/2022. I informed the representative that a renovation of our home had recently been completed and that we needed the sofa. The representative told me the delivery could not be scheduled any sooner. I then called the home office of Grand Home Furnishings and spoke with a representative about the issue. She informed me the same and had a do not care attitude.

Several months before this purchase, we bought a sofa, love seat, bed, mattress, chest with drawers and a dresser from the Waynesboro store. We will never purchase anything else from Grand Home Furnishings. They were eager to make the sale. They could not have cared any less after the sale.

Purchased a Beautyrest X-class hybrid

Purchased a Beautyrest X-class hybrid. Salesman Mike was very friendly and knowledgeable, no pressure. The mattress was firmer than preferred, so we invoked the comfort exchange guarantee and they honored this without drama. Manager Jennifer was very helpful with this. The new Beautyrest KX plush mattress is amazing! Grand promptly sent a service rep for a small defect where two of the fabric handles attach to the mattress (manufacturing problem, not Grand's fault), and we expect a satisfactory resolution. I like keeping my business local and recommend Grand because of their friendliness, responsiveness, and commitment to customer service.
