I am extremely disappointed with my experience using Native Gut for my dogs. I initially became interested in this product after reading positive information on Facebook and, as a devoted dog owner, I am always open to trying something that may improve their health. I have four Pomeranians of different sizes and ages, so I was hopeful this supplement would be beneficial.
However, from the start, the dosing instructions raised concerns. The label indicated “one scoop per dog,” which seemed unreasonable given the vast difference between a 5-pound dog and a much larger breed. To clarify, I contacted the company directly and was assured that one scoop was correct for all dogs regardless of size. Trusting their guidance, I still chose to proceed cautiously and gave each of my dogs only a quarter scoop.
Within three days, all four of my dogs developed concerning symptoms. My two larger dogs (12 and 8 pounds) became lethargic but thankfully recovered within several days after stopping the supplement. My smallest dog (5 pounds) developed significant diarrhea, which I managed at home with one veterinary visit. Most alarming was the reaction of my oldest dog (7 pounds), who became seriously ill. He began vomiting, progressed to diarrhea, and eventually developed bloody diarrhea, requiring urgent veterinary care and hospitalization for 5 days at a cost of over $5000.
I provided the company with full documentation, including veterinary records and bills. While they did offer to reimburse the cost of the product’s medication, they refused to cover the substantial veterinary expenses caused by the adverse reactions.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product. The one-size-fits-all dosing guidance appears inappropriate and potentially dangerous, especially for small dogs. The company does not seem to stand behind its product when dealing with adverse reactions. I strongly urge other pet owners to exercise caution and consult their veterinarian before using this supplement.
