My chip experience
Introduced to chip by a friend about three years ago, I was sceptical initially allowing a company I’d never heard of before to access my bank account. Best thing I ever did! Chip calculates the amount I save on the basis of what I can afford. On the rare occasion I have needed to ask a question, someone is always available to answer. Would highly recommend them.

Started off very well, interest rates were super for savers and were hard to beat however times have changed and you lowered these rates where they can now be easily beaten. My current savings rate is 4.55 easy access with another bank

Easy to use app with a range of saving, investment and pension products. Transfers of funds in and out of Chip are normally very quick. Not necessarily the best rates but a solid platform and good offering.

I’ve been using Chip to build up my savings and I’m really happy with it so far. The interest rates are really good at the moment, and I love how easy it is to use — I just set up a standing order and let it build up in the background.
I also use the Prize Savings account, which gives me the chance to win some extra money while saving. I’ve been using Chip for around 6 months now and have already won £55, so fingers crossed for a bigger win one day! Overall, really happy with Chip and would definitely recommend it.

Market leading rates. Transfer to chip is easy. It has two catches.
1. Your interest wont be credited from first day of the next month but on 14th of next month. It will only start to compound from 14th of the next month.
2. If you wish to transfer to another provider, you have to technically loose minimum 14 days worth of interest.

Ok, but there’s better alternatives
Been using Chip for many years. I’ve seen the company and app evolve lots over the years. I mainly use the roundup function to save and have paid for many summer holidays this way. Now roundups are limited to certain account types only which is frustrating so I no longer use Chip as my main savings method anymore. The app itself is nice and functional but again I use other apps that are better and more intuitive and offer more flexibility for saving. The Chip app has gone from something I used everyday for saving to something I barely use for saving now. There are better alternatives. Do your research.
