So difficult to use

So difficult to use. All I wanted to do was a one off payment into account. It says I can use my card but then says it needs all of my online bank details. The account I want to pay from does not have online banking that I use. Try to query online but not an option on the chat feed and just go round in circles. Pretty poor all round and definitely do not recommend.

Depending on the payment method, you may be asked to connect your bank account to complete the process through open banking. However, we appreciate this may not be suitable if you don’t use online banking with the account you want to pay from.

Avoid

The company makes it almost impossible to move your ISA away from them. They will claim not to have received transfer requests or that the request is missing certain information and needs to be resent. I have tried for over 3 months to get my own money from them with three different new providers' requests all rejected or Chip will claim not to have even received them. I sincerely regret ever having moved my ISA to this company. Yes the app is good but I'd give zero stars for customer service if this was an option as feels like it's impossible to leave

When we advise that we haven’t received a transfer request, this can sometimes be because the incorrect ISA provider has been selected on the new provider’s transfer form. We’d recommend checking that the correct provider details have been entered to help avoid further delays.

Holding on to funds of deceased estate, ongoing

My sister put a lump into their ISA on settlement of our parents estate. Unfortunately she then passed away herself a few months later and the company have stalled and held on to the funds, questioning the legitimacy of the solicitor dealing with her estate, even when provided with all the relevant documentation. Terrible experience.

I had to update my bank details before…

I had to update my bank details before reconnecting it to my Chip Account. Sadly, it's not something you can do yourself through the app. Instead, you have contact Chip first and let them remove your old bank details before you can do the rest. The agent I dealt with did make the process easy, but should you need to contact them to make it possible? I was frustrated at first, but we got there eventually.

Hopefully, they will review the user friendliness of their app and give added functionality.

Good saving and ISA accounts

I'm happy with my ISA and savings account with Chip. Interest rates could be a bit more competitive but there are not many known banks offering better deals. The app is very clear and it's easy to transfer funds in and out. Good communication by the bank via app and email as well. All in all would recommend.

When I first opened an account with Chip 2 years ago it was incredibly easy and stress free.
The day to day management of the account is impressive including security quarterly checks to sign back into your bank to verify identity.
Great interest rates, but sadly I had to close the account.
Chip were really helpful via email, quick to respond and follow up.

Classic bait-and-switch: 4.56% for new signups, 3.75% for loyal savers

Chip used to be a great place to park your savings, but their loyalty penalty has completely ruined the platform.
Right now, new customers are being lured in with an headline rate of 4.56%, while existing customers who have trusted them with their money are left sitting on 3.75%. That is nearly a full percentage point penalty just for being a loyal user.

It’s the classic fintech playbook: pull people in with market-leading introductory rates, wait until they settle, quietly drop the yield, and rely on customer inertia so you can subsidize the acquisition of new accounts.

Rewarding brand-new accounts while eroding returns for the people who actually helped build your deposit base shows exactly where Chip’s priorities lie. Your money will only work hard here until the honeymoon period is over. If you don't want to constantly monitor rate cuts and transfer your cash elsewhere every few months, look at providers that offer the same rate to everyone.
