Expensive delivery fees

We purchased a TV on Sunday from the capalaba store Donna the salesperson was lovely. On Monday afternoon I called the store to add a sofa to my purchase I queried the sale end date I was told that it finished at close of day Monday I was also quoted an additional $70 to deliver the lounge with my TV unit $198 we also wanted to purchase a coffee table. Because of the ridiculous amount for delivery I didn't go ahead with the extra purchases. I visited your website the next morning and the sale is still going. Very annoyed with salesman on phone not helpful at all.

DELIVERY CHARGE ABSURD

Well, this is my second bad review. Again, we receive emails with the usual 30% off sale. So, we search for an outdoor setting. Yes, we find one that we like at a sale price, great. But wait, again we can't choose to pick it up from a store. No choice but to get it delivered. Delivery charge by partner delivery is $235.95. So again, there goes the sale price out the window. Freedom Furniture this is a joke.

I recent purchase of the Avalon dining…

I recently purchase of the Avalon dining table on 30 January 2025.

The table was advertised in-store and online as 220 x 95 cm. However, when I reviewed my email receipt, it stated 220 x 105 cm. I contacted the customer service team, and the representative informed me that the larger measurement included the packaging.

The table was delivered to my home on Saturday, 6 December. The packaging appeared unusually large, which prompted me to visit the Castle Hill store in person. There, I was advised that the table had been incorrectly marked both in-store and online, and that the actual size is 220 x 105 cm. This discrepancy was acknowledged by staff, who assured me that I would receive a full refund and that the table would be collected from my home.

I was told that I would receive an email and a text message confirming the collection and refund details. However, despite these assurances, I received no communication

I have called customer service and Castle Hill store with no success.

Delivery service is terrible

Delivery service is terrible. Parcels require a signature on delivery so unless you're able to sit at home all day waiting, your parcel will be taken to the depot which really defeats the purpose of delivery doesn't it?

The delivery service Global Express which Freedom Furniture uses gives a delivery frame time of 8am - 5pm. They wont narrow it down.

Failure to deliver on order & pathetic customer service

Placed an order for a side table on 20 Sept. No further communication received from Freedom in any form. On 2 Dec I finally found a wonderful lady called Ruwa at South Wharf who actually returned my call when others didn't. She managed to find out that the product has been discontinued. Pathetic customer service Freedom. I will never shop with you again.

Extremely Poor Quality & Appalling Warranty Support

I purchased the Kew Side Table from Freedom Furniture for $300, and within a year the top shelf sagged and the screw anchors completely failed — despite the table only ever holding a glass and a small snack bowl. The material quality is clearly very poor.

What made the experience far worse was Freedom’s response. Even with clear photos showing the defect, they repeatedly refused my warranty claim, blaming “excessive weight” and “external or environmental factors,” which simply isn’t true. They offered no remedy, no replacement, no solution — nothing.

I attempted to resolve the issue multiple times, even submitting a formal complaint, but was met with generic replies, delays, and no meaningful action. For a company of this size, rejecting a simple warranty claim on a $300 item is unacceptable and shows a complete disregard for customers and basic consumer rights.

This experience has completely damaged my trust. If this is how Freedom handles a small, obvious manufacturing fault, I can’t imagine what would happen with a larger purchase. I strongly recommend avoiding Freedom Furniture if you expect quality products or reliable warranty support.

Awful product and customer service

After months of back-and-forth with them since July (they even sold me the wrong colour — see my previous review), the replacement black bed frame finally arrived covered in mould.

The seller made me wait three months, claiming it had to be manufactured, only to send me this mould-infested bed frame.
Another complete lack of respect.

Please see the attached photos showing how disgusting this product is. They had the nerve to charge $2,000 for something that isn’t even worth $100.

Now my rhinitis is flaring up, and I need someone to pick this up URGENTLY — TODAY.

Just stay away from Freedom

Oh boy, where do I start- even if it is the most beautiful piece of furniture you’ve ever seen, if Freedom are selling it, do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.
1. I ordered a sofa bed a few months ago. Got new information just after placing the order and cancelled it within hours (permitted as per the cancellation policy). Discovered a month later when the funds still hadn’t returned to my account that it had never been cancelled, despite the assurances of the person I spoke to. It took a lot of work to get the refund.
2. Ordered a table off the website for a particular space. When it arrived the measurements were wrong. After multiple contacts, Freedom also established that their website measurements were indeed wrong.
3. I ordered a bookcase that I know would fit up my staircase because the removalists got much bigger things up. Waited weeks then the first attempted delivery was with 2 guys who said they couldn’t get it up the stairs (one was tiny so it was understandable). I rang Freedom and they said they’d reclassify it as a heavy object for a 3-man delivery. Today the same 2 guys arrived as last week. Still clearly unable to attempt to get it up the stairs. I rang Freedom and they put me onto my local store. The local store wanted to charge me $700 to cancel it, even though it was their incompetence that caused it not to be deliverable. They then said they’d turn it into store credit (as if I ever want to set foot in a Freedom store again)- but I could only order in store, not online, I could only use it for similarly large purchases, not for multiple small ones, and they wouldn’t confirm that the money was definitely now in store credit except verbally- no follow up email. Bye bye $2000.
Seriously, save yourself the trouble and stay as far away from this company as possible. Their customer service is shockingly awful.

Ordered outdoor furniture 4 weeks ago…

Ordered outdoor furniture 4 weeks ago with a $550 delivery fee. No one can tell me where the item is, no one knows when it might arrive, have been told once that it was delivered which they then got back to me and said it hadn't even been picked up from courier, another member of customer service said it had been picked up by the wrong courier. It seems to just be a guessing game. Asked for a refund and no one can help with that either. Everyone needs to escalate it to someone else because no one can do their job. This company should be done for fraud

Delivery disappointment.

We had a great experience in store and were advised that we could arrange delivery, assembly and the drivers would also take away package for a low price given the amount we had spent. This locked our decision in to go with Freedom rather than other furniture stores and we were very excited. On the day of delivery the drivers dropped the packages off and took a photo, we then asked if they were assembling it to which they responded saying "oh i guess we could help?" as they started walking out the door. They were very rude about this. We then had to assemble this ourselves, which caused a slight dent in our flooring as we were unaware of the lock that would fall out, something we are sure they would've been aware of and been able to prevent the damage. Whilst it only took us an hour to assemble, we then had to deal with the packaging taking an additional 2 hours out of our day to remove this and a further fee for disposing of this. We contacted Freedom who appeared to side with their drivers saying that we had apparently advised them we didn't need help assembling it and would be doing it later that day... despite the room being completely cleared for them. They offered a refund of just the delivery fee and nothing else to reimburse for our damages, time or the fees paid to dispose of the packaging. We are very disappointed in the service offered by the delivery drivers and that of Freedom to not do anything further. We are now more out of pocket then just the delivery fee and it seems Freedom do not care at all. Be wary - if it sounds too good to be true it definitely is with Freedom. We will never use them again.

DO NOT PURCHASE BARI SOFA

Purchased the Bari Sofa in morning pearl. Within 6 months the lounge is covered in pilling/fabric balls. Made a warranty claim and was advised by technician to buy a pilling machine to remove any pilling. He did say on the care advice label it did say pilling is expected. I think Freedom should warn you when you purchase this lounge that this will happen. The lounge looks like its about 5 years old. The seat cushions have also sagged quite a bit. Do NOT buy the Bari Sofa if you actually want to use it as a lounge and not have it look like crap after a few months!

They have gone so far downhill I doubt…

They have gone so far downhill I doubt I'll ever go there again - and they used to be one of my faves. Terrible quality now - don't even bother. They also are award of systemic design flaws with some items yet keep them in production. Which I'm pretty sure crosses some legal and ethical boundaries. I have no idea what even happened to this place - it's on par with bigw now they have a marketplace online. So tacky.

I purchased a premium leather lounge…

I purchased a premium leather lounge from Freedom expecting quality and longevity. Within 4 years, the leather began cracking and flaking, despite me cleaning and conditioning it every 12 months with the recommended products.

When I raised a warranty claim, Freedom sent a so-called “leather expert” who scrubbed the lounge, making the damage significantly worse. Now, large chunks of leather are peeling and flaking off — it looks far worse than before they touched it.

Freedom has since refused to honour the warranty, claiming I failed to maintain it properly (which is simply untrue). When I offered to purchase replacement covers, they refused, saying they only provide spares for warranty cases. I then asked for the exact leather details so an upholsterer could repair it, and they refused that too.

After spending thousands on what was meant to be a high-quality product, I’ve been left with a ruined lounge, no accountability, and appalling customer service.

I will never shop at Freedom again and strongly urge others to avoid them if they value quality, integrity, or after-sales support.

⚠️ Seats lost firmness and shape within 3 weeks
⚠️ Caused back pain for my wife and me

Inspection Findings (3 Oct 2025):
🔹 Showroom model used firmer blue Dunlop foam
🔹 Delivered lounge used softer yellow foam
🔹 Lounge does not match demonstration model

Freedom Response:
✉️ Emails (14 & 15 Oct 2025) claim “no manufacturing defect” → no refund or remedy
⚖️ Misrepresents consumer rights under Australian Consumer Law (ACL)

ACL Breaches:
✅ s.54 – Goods not of acceptable quality
✅ s.56 – Goods do not match demo model
✅ s.18 & s.29 – Misleading conduct / misrepresentation

Action Taken:

📌 Reported to ACCC

💬 Advice to Buyers:

Sorento Leather Lounge NOT suitable for everyday

Do not buy the Sorento Leather Lounge or Chair for everyday use! The leather is soft and comfortable however after just over 2 years started cracking. A leather expert came out to fix. He said that the super soft leather isn't really designed for everyday use as it's more reactive to body oils and wears more easily. Also, the controllers for the recliner are down the side of the chair so the leather where your had slides down also gets ruined (no one wears jewellery, this is just daily use). Over $3k for one chair and 3k for a lounge and really, it's just for aesthetics. Leather expert suggests a harder, tougher leather for families or daily use as its been coated and offers more protection. We had a cheap leather lounge before this, and it stood up much better than this expensive one. Really disappointing as you expect to have a quality lounge for 10plus years when you spend $$$.

The Most Frustrating Furniture Purchase Ever!

Worst shopping experience ever!

I ordered two coffee tables four months ago, and the delivery has been constantly delayed. The customer service team told me they have no control over the shipment, which is unbelievable! Even now, I still have no idea when my order will arrive.

This is not how a reputable company should operate! Don’t buy furniture from this company again!

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever. Customer support are hard to contact and when you do get through they don’t understand what you are telling them!
I placed an order last week and used two gift cards and the remaining paid from my bank card. The order was cancelled. Due to not having any stock I received an email 1/10 stating I would receive $125 back in gift cards within 24 hours. By Friday I had not received these gift cards so I called and they put them through to their department that handles gift cards. I then received two gift cards which were invalid and have no balance. These were the same gift cards that I had used to put make my purchase.
They are telling me that they issued the gift cards on the 28th and 29th of September. They were the gift cards that I had previously used.
I have called your customer service twice about this and the two operators answer. The phone have no idea on what they actually doing or understand what you’re actually explaining to them they have no answer and I doubt that they don’t know procedures. To put it Bluntly it’s poor customer service.. and please explain to me how I got a refund on the 28th and 29th when I only made an order on the Monday 29th.
So when will I expect my refund of $125 in gift card that’s going to be valid

i wanted two marble side table. i have one on back order which still has not come after Seval months of waiting. the other one i picked up from the store got it home and it was broken even after i asked them to check the stock. When i returned it no one in stock would help with the item even though it is full marble and is super heavy even though there was several staff member free. i still have not received my order
