Contradictory information.After a whole speech on how high homocysteine levels damage your blood vessels my results are lower than average and then give me a planto increase it. The first advice is to quit smoking. I dont smoke.
This is not only a waste of money but dangerous to health. Do not follow the advice given unless you have cheques that it has a scientific backing.

Really impressed with the report

There is a lot to read but it’s easy to break down by nutrition, exercise and lifestyle. It would be good to have a summary report though

There is simply no back up to this, you get a detailed report that is great but then nothing else apart from trying to sell you more.
I have emailed a couple of times re taking on an extra plan but wanted a little more help on specifically what would work for me, surely that is the whole idea of it, to be tailored.
I bought a 12 week plan for weight loss but it really isn't helpful just a diary of standard exercises, no explanation, at no point did it say you had to have a gym membership to complete this, I do have one but the exercises make no sense.

Initially, the results did not meet my expectations. I found it hard to draw useful conclusions from the sheer volume of information. The company offered me a one to one with Alex. It was terrific and better than I had expected. He spent about an hour discusssing my needs and helping me to prioritise and understand the results. I am a happy customer . Thank you Alex

I find all the science stuff hard to understand.

As with anything you get what you pay for, at a £100 a test you get a whole lot of data for your money from Fitness Genes. The clever bit is how that then can be used to help ‘me’, the insight which is occasionally contradictory (humans tend to be) is absolutely fascinating and if you have an interest in exercise and nutrition you will not be left short on information to make better choices. There are new regular updates on new traits which you can then use to enhance whatever regime you are following. I am yet to adopt one of the training plans they build as I am still absorbing data and understanding what changes I can make to my current exercise regime to achieve my goals. I think you need to get your head around the point that it will not all be good news, our DNA does contain some markers that may bring bad news, the point is though if you know now you can do something to help prevent it, all the information is given to you. Be pragmatic, it does not say definitively this will happen, that won’t, it is a guidance about what may happen. The long and short of it is, regardless of your DNA if you overeat rubbish food and do no exercise you are storing up a whole heap of trouble for your future. Fitnessgenes helps you understand what good things you can eat and do to live your best life based on your genetic make up.

I signed up for the FitnessGenes site after reading a good review in The Sunday Times and have been impressed with the service. Signing up was simple, as was the process of giving a saliva sample. The results came back pretty swiftly too - about two weeks, which was well ahead of the estimate.

The site itself is easy and intuitive to navigate and you get an impressive number of traits, each of which comes with a detailed (yet easy to follow) description and personalised recommendations based on your results. The fact that you keep getting extra traits added every two weeks for no extra cost is a nice touch.

I'd say if you're interested in health & nutrition, or are just fascinated by the science, it's worth signing up just for the sheer wealth of results. The only slight caveat that I'd add is that if you've already spent time optimising your diet and exercise plans and / or you regularly read articles on nutrition and fitness in the press then you'll definitely find a lot of the recommendations and suggestions to be very familiar and you might not get as many practical tips as you might expect. That said, I don't regret signing up, as even if it didn't lead to much in the way of behavioural change, it has been fun and interesting finding out what's going on 'under the hood', and it will definitely influence some of my health decisions going forward as I get older.

So much information in the DNA section so trying to digest and implement.

The information was interesting, but I unfortunately received lots of depressing findings - especially about weight/metabolism, ability to burn fat, lost weight, etc. - with no immediate action steps on how to address them. I just found the whole experience depressing and unmotivating!

I got a lot more than I expected, the results closely mirrored my own experience and gave me some useful tips and insights. They are also following up with more insights as they refine and develop, well worth the money

Received my results a little ahead of the estimated date. There is quite a bit of information to digest, spending some time in the Traits section to process this was the most useful way for me.
