Just sold my VW Golf R (Black Edition) to David James, which is my 5th time of using them. Liaised with Kylan throughout the process, who makes everything quick, easy, straightforward and completely hassle free. Obtained a great price for my car, with great service to match. I can't recommend these guys enough, that's why I always come back to them. If you need to sell your car, try these guys before anyone else, you won't be disappointed !

Avoid at all costs
Last Friday I went to collect a vw Tiguan r line 21 plate after viewing it at an earlier date & agree a deal to purchase it
I did ask for a couple of trims to be put right as they were coming away from the body work probably due to the fitting of side steps
I was told everything was good for collect Friday
I went to collect the vehicle & was horrified to see they had tried to attached the bits of trim with silicone or glue & made a horrendous job
Told the salesman I wasn’t happy & his reply was we’ve tried our best & it’s a second hand car
Yes it is a second hand car I agree but it was £25.491 so not cheap
One very disappointed customer who traveled over 250 miles for a car that was held together with silicone / Glue
Thankfully they gave me my £500 deposit back & safe to say I won’t be returning to this Garage anytime soon

I sold my car through David James and it was a smooth and fast process.

I enquired online on Saturday evening on a Bank Holiday weekend and CJ got in touch on Sunday. After a few messages we agreed a price and the following working day CJ organised the paperwork and a collection date was agreed.

The car was collected on the agreed day and time and the payment was made in a fairly short time.

The price was much better than a main dealer part exchange.

I would not hesitate to recommend David James and would be more than happy to do business with them in the future.

I decided to contact David James to see if they were interested in buying my Lotus, from the first phone call to the completion of the purchase CJ kept me informed and made all the payments on time, their collection driver was very helpful and very knowledgeable and kept me informed on the process while the car was being inspected.
When I decide to sell my car again I won’t hesitate to contact CJ again.

AVOID. I reserved a vehicle through their website, paid a £250 deposit immediately and received a receipt. The car then showed as reserved, yet nobody contacted me. After waiting until midday I had to chase them myself, only to be told they thought the car had already been sold and they needed to investigate. I was then left waiting for a callback. For a £35,000 purchase, the communication and organisation have been extremely disappointing. If you’re taking customers’ money to reserve vehicles, you should have a clear process and keep them informed. This has been a very poor first impression.

I was involved throughout the purchase of this vehicle and the issues that followed. We believed we were buying a safe family car, but an independent inspection later identified a number of serious defects, including an oil leak, leaking suspension and other issues that required repair.
After these concerns were raised with the dealership, along with the independent inspection report and photographs, we were disappointed with how our complaint was handled. We were left to cover the repair costs ourselves despite providing the evidence requested.
This review reflects our personal experience. I would encourage anyone buying a used vehicle to have it independently inspected as soon as possible and not rely solely on a vehicle history check.

⚠️ WARNING TO ANYONE THINKING OF BUYING A CAR FROM HERE DAVID JAMES⚠️

I never wanted to have to write a post like this, but I genuinely feel people deserve to know about my experience.

I bought what I believed was a safe family car from this company. Like most parents, I trusted that a car being sold by a dealer would be roadworthy and safe to carry my children.

I later had the vehicle independently inspected, and the findings left me absolutely horrified.

The inspection found:
🚨 An oil leak from the turbo.
🚨 A leaking front suspension strut.
🚨 Damage underneath the vehicle consistent with a previous heavy impact.
🚨 Bent fixings and evidence that second-hand parts had been fitted.
🚨 I was advised by the inspecting garage that the vehicle should not be driven until the faults were repaired because of the safety concerns.

The thought that my young children had been travelling in this car every day without me knowing any of this honestly makes me feel sick.

I spent £21,000 on what I believed was a safe family vehicle, only to later discover faults that, in my opinion, should never have been present on a car sold in that condition.

Instead of enjoying my car, I was left with stress, financial loss, repair costs, an insurance claim, and the terrifying realisation that my family had been put at risk.

I’m sharing this because if it makes just one person think to get an independent inspection before the warranty expires, then it’s worth it.

Please don’t just take a dealer’s word for it. Get the car checked independently. I wish I had.

Everything I’ve written is based on my own experience and the findings of an independent inspection report.
Since this experience, I have also come across information and allegations suggesting the individual behind the business has operated under multiple business names over time\. I cannot personally verify the full history, but it has raised further concerns for me and is something I believe others may wish to be aware of and look into independently before doing business
