Very friendly and kind service up until the point I was informed of their 'mandatory' lifetime fee of £599. During a presentation I received I was informed this was optional. Further personal research shows that this is in fact mandatory, but feel very frustrated having been told otherwise by a member of staff, only to then be told of the true reality. Deceptive tactics and rude staff when things de-rail, would avoid and recommend finding an independent broker.

Rahul Jerome at Countrywide Mortgage Services was extremely knowledgeable, professional and responsive from the very beginning. He took the time to understand our circumstances, explained the options clearly and guided us through the mortgage application process from the initial agreement in principle through to receiving the formal mortgage offer.

What really stood out was how proactive Rahul was throughout the process. Whenever there was something that needed to be dealt with, he was on top of it, kept us updated and made what could have been a complicated process feel very straightforward.

He was also particularly helpful in coordinating everything with the lender and our solicitors, which was important given the tight timeframe we were working to for completion. The mortgage funds were ultimately released exactly when required, allowing us to complete on schedule.

Rahul was a pleasure to deal with throughout, and we always felt that he had our best interests in mind. His knowledge, communication and attention to detail made a real difference.

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rahul to anyone looking for a mortgage broker. Five stars and thoroughly deserved!

Maciek Starczewski- provided an absolute terrible customer service once he realized he couldn't help me with my mortgage. We went through an application and I didn't hear back from him, presumably because he was unable to help. He didn't have the courtesy to even let me know, with an obvious glorified sales mentality.

Previously used CountryWide to obtain a mortgage, paid the initial fee of £500 on the provision that the next time I need a mortgage I could go through them and there would be no fee to pay.
I am now looking for a mortgage again, Iv requested call backs twice and they havnt bothered to call me back so clearly aren’t Interested now there’s no fee to charge.

We would like to call-out the excellent service we received from Gemma F at countrywide. Strong experience and knowledge, cares about her clients, we look forward to working with her again when it comes time to remortgage

Regret even going with them. Firstly our advisor vanished without saying anything all we got was a email saying we got assigned someone else.

Constantly pressured into picking everything they suggested because of course they all get commission, same for their partner lawyer fern they use only time they contact us is for money.

Messaged my advisor 3 weeks ago not heard anything. Solicitors sending us forms that dont even print properly its just a mess. Quite concerned why our advisor vanished and email worded it like she did something wrong which you think we deserve to know if she was fired for something considering she handled our case and money.

My advice don't even bother with an advisor, get cheapest solicitor you can find and search for insurance etc all yourself will save thousands. We got charged £100 for them to send a letter off we could have done ourselves for free. Nothing is explained its just pay this and pay that.

Update - haven't had a response from the solicitor or advisor for almost a month.

It was all good at first until they realised I didn't quite have the affordability. They never let me know and the property was sold. They could have at least contacted me back to say they couldn't help. Up until that point, they were blowing up my phone. I'd have expected the courtesy of a call to say they couldn't help.

Rebecca Knight (Gloucester branch) is a hero! From the moment I met her I knew I was in safe hands. Throughout the process of buying my property she was there on hand at ANY time to steer me in the right direction. I could not have asked for a kinder, more positive, enthusiastic and supportive advisor. She really went above and beyond for me, but I suspect she does that for every client. It's just who she is!

My experience buying my first home was great. I would recommend Lee Flaherty from Bristol to anyone. He goes over and above for anyone, very fast replies when you need help in a stressful situation and just in general and nice bloke. My brother was the one who told me about him and he wouldn't of wanted anyone else either.

I was referred to Countrywide Mortgages by Bairstow Eves and spoke with David Bostock. We had already received a very competitive mortgage through another broker and let David know we just wanted to know if the offer could be beaten. Although David could not ultimately secure anything materially beating our previous offer, he was extremely professional throughout. He walked us through all our options, and assured us of our situation. I'd recommend using David to anyone looking for a mortgage. Had it not been for our existing relationship with another broker we would have definitely gone forward with him.

It was a bit of a disaster really.
My previous mortgage broker had joined the organisation and as he did a great job previously I went with him to here.
Now for me, all my details should be on file already, renewal date, etc. Thats why I have stayed with the same Mortgage broker still.
Was asked countless times for wage slips of ones I have given already.
I can't say for certain what went wrong but I can say that the renewal date was missed regardless of getting all my information verified very quickly using the portals.
So I had to pay 2 months on the variable rate. With the run up to Christmas and being in my situation with two kids. It was a Sad Christmas.
It was only until I called the branch, unable to reach my broker and spoke with a lady there regarding the situation. I had a phone call back from her saying everything would be sorted and I would receive a call the next day. Instead I had a few emails and no call to confirm all went through, I had an sms message from the bank.
No official apology or anything rom the organisation what so ever. Im sure there will be something signed off in the terms and conditions no-one reads that will be quoted back to me after I submit this. Just be careful who you trust you money with.

Trying to deal with Gemma Ferguson at Doncaster is very very difficult.
Have left numerous calls and email and have received no updates at all.
Spoke to someone in the office and they said they would get her to call, still nothing.

We worked with Liam Trussler on our mortgage application and purchase, and he has been absolutely outstanding from day one.

He was always responsive, patient, and clear in every explanation — even when things became complicated. Liam kept us updated at every stage, chased the lender when needed, and made us feel genuinely supported throughout the process.

His professionalism and attention to detail gave us real peace of mind, and we honestly could not have completed this purchase without him.

This organisations policies, pricing and approach needs a serious review. We paid for a lifetime service during our previous mortgage deal thinking it meant they'd help us with advice and remortgages for life. It's a total con and a waste of money. They still expect you to pay £99 each time they sign you onto a deal at the same time as being paid hundreds by the lenders. To make matters worse I advised my broker on the deal being offered by my lender for him to then attempt to charge me for signing that same deal. Joke.

There are other companies who have the exact same resources who do this for free and operate via making the money from the lenders alone. This outdated organisation are a joke and prey on people not paying full attention who don't realise they're being charged for nothing.

Oh and when I queried the £99 with my broker he claimed that he'd done 8 hours of work that "can't be done for free". Well now you don't have the £500+ from the lender either.

We thought a recommended integrated service with Beresford Adams would mean a smoother process. We are VERY glad we didn't commit to anything too soon, as Arwel at the Caernarfon office, did a initial consultation with us, requested all our documents and evidence and then never got back to us. I emailed and phoned countless times and left message and got no response. He has ghosted us for the last 9 months now and we haven't heard a peep from him. After 6 weeks of trying to get in touch we found a different mortgage advisor that actually did the job. Shocking service and very poor show.
