They charge me extra €250 for insurance they told me my is not valid
Charge me €100 to drive to Dubrovnik because got through Bosnia and pop in to Mostar
Car I hired was damaged by mouse they found so they give me smaller car.
On end they just charge me £28 on my card don’t know what for I didn’t get email or invoice
Never ever will use them again

Avoid this company at all costs.They will try to charge you extra whenever they get the chance. This was by far the worst car rental experience we've ever had. It felt like a scam from start to finish. Do yourself a favor and rent from another company—you'll regret it if you choose this one.

Carwiz is a scam! With the intention of doing them a favor and not booking through Booking.com or Check24, I booked directly through CarWiz, only to be greeted by a pleasant surprise at the airport: I had to pay €310 for insurance for 10 days, while the car rental itself cost around €120!!!

There are only two options: either no insurance at all, or an overpriced one that covers all damages.
Reading other people’s comments, choosing no insurance at all leads to even worse consequences!

Never again Carwiz!!!

would like to share my exprience with your company from my rental 2 days ago.
Have tried to pick up the car at Zagreb airport.
First surprize, have booked in Germany with full insurance, but my incurance was not accepted from Carwiz - have to book additional insurance- to make owner of Carwiz rich. Second surprize, have booked a nice modern KIA but at airport I got an „Upgrade“ to a trash DACIA Jogger - absolut insane! Third surprize, have to pay extra der if car cleaning would be nessesary, car was already not clean when recived- have to pay that extra - just to make owner rich.
This Action from Carwiz was really so bad and without any Respect to the customer.
Smells like profit-making with Typical Balkan corruction methods.

Prix de base très attractif au moment de la réservation en ligne jusqu’au fameux tour de passe-passe (sur le lieu de vacances évidemment) de la traditionnelle carte bleue qui ne «fonctionnerait» pas pour l’empreinte (refus total du responsable au bureau de Pula en Croatie avec 2 cartes différentes) mais qui finalement se montre extrêmement redoutable et efficace lorsqu’il s’agit de régler un surcoût de 300€ pour récupérer la voiture !!!
Une arnaque très répandue dans ce milieu et qui continue de l’être en toute impunité dans certains pays.

This company is extremely shady through how they operate. The second we came through the airport after we landed and were supposed to pick up, they immediately demanded to put in "deposits" and to also pay an insurance fee, even though we booked this through a third party, booking.com, which had insurance included.

The car that we got was apparently brand new and had a few plastic bits on, which they explained were "from manufacturing" and had just been peeled off.

The car was solid overall, but then when we came back to the car rental company to check out our car they immediately went to the side of the car and saw an immediate scratch. Then they found more and more and added it to the fee.

Then after all of that they said through their eyes that they have found that we have driven off-road, which was apparently another 200 euros. After these confrontation they decided to get a police man to calm down the situation. The funny thing is that the police guy also has had these experiences and told us that you cannot with a clear eye tell if a car has been offroad without having a mechanic looking through it. The police man also said that 50% of croatian roads are considered offroad, which would make this highly illegal.

So do not go with this company, avoid it at all costs!

DO NOT USE CARWIZ RENT-A-CAR IN CROATIA.
First they sold us a second insurance claiming that the first insurance we bought online through a 3rd party didn’t work in Croatia. When we called the 3rd party company they told us this was a common tactic to upsell the insurance. It was too late to cancel either insurance.
We rented a car for the day to drive from one town to another. When we returned the car we received an email claiming “damage” that never happened. How convenient that both insurances only cover exterior damage but not interior damage. There was never any damage- we returned the car as we received it. Since we didn’t take video of the entire vehicle inside and out we couldn’t “prove”it. This was a con.
We paid an additional €50 for additional insurance, €140 for interior damage that never happened, €10 cleaning fee, and €80 for a drop off fee at another location that we were only notified of upon drop off (we had already paid the different drop off location fee to the 3rd party).
The company holds very low ratings across major consumer platforms, including an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau and an aggregate "Bad" to "Poor" rating on Trustpilot. 
They are deceptive and unethical. Clients often report substantial warnings regarding hidden local fees, aggressive upselling, and strict and deceptive damage inspection tactic. This company is predatory and should be ashamed of its tactics.

The staff really made everything easy. They explained everything well and there were no unexpected charges. The car was brand new and in good condition. Overall very solid experience.

Surtout ne louez pas avec Carwiz, ils proposent des prix bas mais derrière se rattrapent sur les frais de restitution. Heureusement que j'ai pris des photos, sinon ils me prenaient des frais pour rayures et niveau d'essence. Dernière surprise ils m'ont pris 25 euros de frais de nettoyage. LOUEUR A EVITER

In more than 30 years of renting cars around the world, I have never experienced such an extraordinary level of unprofessionalism and poor customer treatment. What I encountered here went far beyond simple incompetence — it reflected a disturbing combination of arrogance, deceptive practices, and what can only be described as outright fraud. This was, without question, the worst rental experience I have ever had.

The staff will aggressively try to sell you additional insurance that is often unnecessary. If you refuse, be prepared for potential problems later. In my case, after returning the vehicle, they claimed damage that did not exist and charged an excessive amount for it.

This is the first rental company I have ever encountered that expects customers to wash and clean the car before returning it. If you do not, they will simply add additional charges.

The entire process gives the impression that the company’s main objective is to cheat and extract as much money as possible from each customer rather than provide a fair and professional service. Customer satisfaction and reputation appear to be of little concern.

In Western Europe, a company operating in this manner would have long ago been prohibited from doing business. Unfortunately, in parts of the Balkans such practices are still tolerated, where too often business is conducted with a “live from today to tomorrow” mentality rather than with professionalism, accountability, and respect for customers.

After decades of renting cars globally, I can confidently say this is a company best AVOIDED. I strongly recommend choosing another rental provider.

Non-transparent damage charges Carwiz Rijeka, Croatia

I was charged €460 for alleged tyre damage plus an €80 admin fee at vehicle return, without clear explanation or repair documentation.

Later, a different amount was stated and a partial refund issued.
Carwiz refused to provide any workshop invoice and relied solely on internal assessments.

The entire insurance process was left to me, causing unnecessary delays and wasted time.

Not professional. Not transparent. Not recommended.

Es wurden Schäden in Rechnung gestellt die schon bei der Autoübergabe vorhanden waren. Das Geld haben wir nie erstattet bekommen, obwohl wir ein Video und Bilder von dem Auto haben. Nie wieder bei denen buchen!!!!

Happy with the service. Had to wait a bit when picking and droping but kind stuff. Great price. Not happy as I was charged at the end because the car was dirty from outside. I never heard anything more silly then that. I understand if I make the car messy inside but from outside you cannot avoid it as its winter, road wet, snowing...So I dont remember anyone even mentioning that to me and personally didn't had time to read the contract. So when I drop the car back the young lad said all is good and then in a short time I saw on my online bank I was charged 10£ for bringing a dirty car (from outside). What a nonsence. Overal good experience and price. Please you cannot charge people for bringing a dirty car on outside common. Please, change that. Thank you. Best wishes.

Sehr lange wartezeit, sowie dreckiges Auto, man zahlt 10 Euro für die Reinigung des Autos, aber bekommt ein verdrecktes Auto, die Bodenmatten sind dreckig, sowie irgendwelche Quittungen sind im Auto des vorgängers aufzufinden, die Scheibe ist verdreckt und das Scheibenwischwasser ist nur mit Wasser aufgefüllt. Zu hohe Kosten bei der Versicherung, obschon man eine Versicherung vorab abgeschlossen hat. Und auch ich als Schweizerin, bin aber Kroatin, muss man sich einfach durchsetzten und auch, so wie das Personal, sollte man mit ihnen so reden, wie sie es tun, da nehme ich kein Blatt vor dem Mund.
Schade, arbeitet an euch.

Such a shame that an otherwise perfect hire was spoilt by Carwiz running a cleaning fee scam! At time of booking with Expedia there was no mention anywhere in the Terms and Conditions of a mandatory 10 euro cleaning fee. We returned the car perfectly clean and yet several days after our return this scam charge was made. Carwiz simply ignored my plea to refund the charge. However, Expedia takes scamming more seriously and admitted that the charge wasn't explained in the terms and conditions and had no choice but to refund me the charge. As I said, such a shame that Carwiz tried to pull such a pathetic scam!

The rental price was reasonable but additional charge for islands of 100 eur? When I returned the car there was noone to check the condition. At the counter they claimed that it is only one person working and that I should not worry. The car had more scratches than documented so I took bunch of pictures and uploaded those. I would not recommend.

Beware of scams! At the counter, they suddenly demanded the credit card, hidden in the fine print. Without it, we wouldn’t have gotten the car or our already paid money back. We were forced to pay overpriced insurance and cleaning fees, and the staff was rude, unhelpful, and completely unreasonable. In the end, we paid almost three times the original price. Absolutely untrustworthy – never again CarWiz!
